thankfully I’m gonna wait until it’s completed and spend Christmas watching it 👍👍. How is it so far…
I envy you for having the patience 😊

I’m really enjoying this so far. It definitely has a Fast & Furious vibe, right down to the flashy cars and scantily clad girls. Like that franchise, the plot isn’t especially deep or sophisticated—but it doesn’t need to be. This show knows it’s here to entertain, and it does that job well. There’s also some intrigue around the ML’s background.

The leads have great chemistry, and the tension between them isl 😅🔥. The romance is currently on the cute side because the FL is only about 19 and is taking love advice from another teenager—so yes, she can be a bit childish at times. But that tracks, given how sheltered and pampered she seems to have been. I’m really looking forward to her growth, and I’m sure she’ll mature alongside Jin Zhao, the ML.

Sanlai is the kind of sidekick everyone wishes they had. He treats Jiang Mu like a little sister and is unfailingly kind and loyal. He’s basically that beloved SML who feels almost too good to be true. I too hope he gets a love interest—and right now, my money’s on the FL’s friend, the same one handing out all that questionable teenage romance advice.

Just like that, 8 episodes flew by. Now I join everyone else in the torture of waiting for daily episodes.

He Yu is killing it with his character - typically so brooding, just a little smile of his is heart melting.

Esther, what can I say - I just love her…voice and all.

She has great chemistry with all - I love her dynamics with Jin Zhao’s buddies - especially Sanlai.

Jiang Mu has both Jin men wrapped around her finger! Ngl, I like her with Lin Luo too - the visuals 😍

OMG, I felt the exact same way at episode 3! The moment where he softens when she calls him 'ge'? That's what…
You're right! I'm on ep 5 now and getting more and more sucked in...I also like the comic relief moments in between.

What an exhilarating watch! The sizzling chemistry and tension between the leads alone could keep me glued to the screen—but the gritty fight scenes and high-octane races elevate the show.

I like Esther’s character so far: a little naïve, but smart and grounded. And He Yu? That good-boy-gone-bad energy is unapologetically sexy. Add to the mix - Mike Angelo!

I’m only on episode 3, and yet the yearning he’s already showing for her.... The way he can’t stand to see her cry, and how he softens every time she calls him “ge”… yeah. I’m officially in. 😍

On The Girl Who Sees Scents Dec 12, 2025
This show had a lot going for it. The plot was engaging, with the police actually being competent, and a villain who was cautious, cunning, and capable of outmaneuvering them when it counted. That balance made the cat-and-mouse dynamic interesting to watch and kept the tension steady for much of the series.

The performances were another strong point. SSK did a great job here, and having seen her in more recent projects, it’s clear how much she has grown as an actress over time. PYC also held his own, particularly in the more emotional moments, while convincingly portraying a socially awkward, slightly unaware character. His performance added depth without being too quirky. Together, they make a cute couple who support each other so well.

There were some slipups along the way, mainly when the writing wasn’t consistent in terms of quality, pacing or how certain characters behaved. For example, as mentioned, the police were competent, but they also had moments of stupidity. Likewise with the FL who seemed to have her act together most times but fell apart at the most inopportune moments. Still, these moments were minor and never enough to pull me out of the story or diminish my overall enjoyment.

That said, the show really could have ended at episode 15; the story felt complete at that point. The final showdown felt unnecessary—more like an attempt to stretch the narrative than to improve it.

Can u pls tell what is Lv Xian's reveal about?
He told Yan Tuo that he had known for a long time that it was LYR and fiends who killed his parents indirectly. Apparently Lv Xian's father was in need of a transplant, and a donor was found. However on the day of the surgery, the donor never showed up and Lv Xian's father died. The mother after struggling for three year, died too.

Lv Xian found out that the donor was Li Er Gou and he was killed to be LYR's blood bag. All these years, he felt grateful to the Roadshow compay for bringing him up - he cannot hate LYR but he will never support her. That's why he was helping Yan Tuo so much!

Thank you! I always appreciate you taking the time to read and respond to my comments and reviews. Completely…
I know...unless they advertise it first, season 2 never happens. I bet if they wanted to, they could make multiple seasons like they did with "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty". Then again the budget and star power of this show is quite different from STTD :D

Love your review;). The part where the hunters were NPC and have extended coffee breaks were really spot on and…
Thank you! I always appreciate you taking the time to read and respond to my comments and reviews. Completely agree with you about editing and pacing - they sped up during the key moments but then slow down too much in others.
Also, apparently it would have needed a higher budget for all the CGI needed to follow the novel exactly especially the ending.

Yes!! They simplified the novel by a lot towards the end…. Kinda sad because the novel was relatively well researched…
Thank you!!!😊

Ah thank you for clarifying! I thought the cave and underwater scenes were done well and realistic. The show felt high-budget so to spend even more...well, even with stars like Dilraba and CXX, there has to be a limit :D

I was wondering the same thing - was the little sister killed very early on by Lin-yi or was she kept around for awhile?
I am happy that all the original couples survived.

I am starting the novel now to fill in the gaps. I think it would have to be a 2 part series for the show to fully adapt to the novel.

I thought the face off would be more intense too.
Right? After the Mad Blade going on a crazy killing spree, it could have ended better with LYR.

hi ,how is the romance and if you remember the time they get together and if there a break up and love triangle!?…
Romance is good - from being antagonistic towards each other to falling for eaxh other - the pacing was good and the development really draws you in. They properly got together in ep 18 and after that no break up and no love triangle.

This show is not all about the romance though - it's about hunters versus the fiends ultimately but the last two episides are focused on them again.

Episode 29 both thrilling and a bit of a letdown. All that build-up, and the final showdown was a bit meh...Love the whole NJL going Mad Blade style but that phase ended too quickly. I wanted a epic face-off between LXR and NJL but got a "let's get it over with" scene that cannot even be called a fight.

Wow Lv Xian's reveal 😮

That said, I’m glad they didn’t end the show right there. The suspense and emotional rollercoaster keep going, and the r emembrance of the fallen was actually a really moving touch. 😭
