A little late to the party, but I’m making up for it! I’m absolutely loving this drama — does a green flag like Ming Liang really exist in real life? The gorgeous people and scenery of XinJiang, beautiful cinematography, lovely OSTs and mouth-watering food scenes make it even more enjoyable!
My new comfort show - the food scenes are great, and I like Chang Long's ML character. He's still funny but in an intelligent way. Much less sillier compared to his character in Yummy Yummy Yummy. It's great! I am not fond of the FL character yet - she's too prejudiced and naive right now but hopefully we will see her character development soon!
Here for YZX and HXL! As expected their visuals are amazing and the chemistry has been good. Not sizzling yet since I’m only on ep 9. Satisfying watch so far! It’s great to see how the leads triumph over the bag guys who truly are vile! I hope that continues until the end!
What I love most about this drama is that it doesn’t paint female empowerment as something shiny or one-dimensional. It acknowledges the price women have historically paid—the struggles, the indignities, and the quiet sacrifices that often .ot mocked or taken advantage of.
This isn’t a feel-good story where the female lead always succeeds, but that’s what makes it feel real. MuDan's victories are hard-earned, and watching her stay true to herself through it all is what makes her journey so compelling. It’s also about the women around her—the way they support and stand by each other in a world that often works against them.
I’m really glad I read the comments and reviews beforehand because they helped me manage my expectations about the romance. Otherwise, I probably would’ve been frustrated had I not known that I’d have to wait until Season 2 for the progression of the lead couple's love. The relationship between Jiang Chang Yang and MuDan was written beautifully—more about respect and emotional growth than passion for now. The connection they built in Season 1 was steady, sincere and felt so very natural. It made me root for them even more.
Li Xian was outstanding as Jiang Chang Yang. His performance captured the role of a "good man playing a bad man' really well.
As for Yang Zi, I’ll admit I’ve never been her biggest fan, but she completely won me over as MuDan. Her styling was beautiful, and she brought both strength and warmth to the role.
She and Li Xian had such natural chemistry— they were endearing and fun to watch!
I can’t wait to continue with season 2. Let the villains fall, the corrupt schemes unravel, and the tides finally turn in favor of those who’ve fought hardest for justice. Most of all, let Jiang Chang Yang have his moment—to love MuDan openly, fiercely, and without restraint.
I actually enjoyed this drama for the face cards served by Aaron Yan and Puff Kuo. The leads were a pleasure to watch in this show, and Dean Fujioka certainly added to the visual feast. The story was so so, nothing original but it had the usual Taiwanese flair for exaggeration and a bit of silliness when it comes to the rom-coms. Some of the sub-plots were too draggy like the whole ordeal with Jiayu. She was a pain from the moment she appeared to the end. The lead characters certainly had flaws too, like FL could have been less loud and ditsy, and the ML less prideful. He certainly got the easier end of the relationship when he never had to apologized even though he should but the FL always caved in first. Still they were cute together and with them being so endearing when they finally got together, I forgave the show for all its flaws by the time I got to the end. The OST was a plus, romantic and simple but suitable. My favorites were Unstoppable Sun by Aaron and Because of You by Freya Lim and Alex To. The songs were memorable. This is a 2013 show so you have to overlook the lack of finess compared to today’s shows. Overall, it was a pretty decent watch.
This is a rom com that is not blatantly a rom com. The dialogue was refreshing and witty, and I love how the leads got together and their growing awareness of each other. So cute! Both actors are actually very attractive but for this show, they toned down their glamour. Still the ML had a sexy vibe and the FL was just so sweet. Hard to believe that she’s actually 38!
I sat on it and hours later, I agreed. But just feel so sad for Lin Yan’s life.😭😭😭
I am too much of a coward - haven’t seen the ending yet but know it from the spoilers 😭 I’ll get to it. For now rewatching Blossom for a happier LYR character!
OK, entertaining enough with the ML's visuals. The story contains familiar scenes from other dramas. This is a quick watch that's perfect for a filler.
Torture indeed! it’s like watching a slow emotional trauma been done in a relationship, as unbearable as watching…
That’s such a good way to describe it! The emotional trauma seeing them getting more and more hurt. And you’re right they are already changing the future so what does it matter??? Of course because of the censorship, for sure it will end up being a dream or novel. I just want them to have a good proper happy ending because they wake up or the novelist ends the story 😅

Thank goodness for the comic relief!
