The cousin is the one that annoys me the most now...creating unnecessary drama, taking away precious screen time. I understand the latest incident he caused sort of ties back to the scenes in the novel but again, we no longer need the fox clan...just follow the novel and it would be an amazing Part 2!

I think usually the director has final say about how the scenes should unfold. So if he did not agree with the screenwriter, then he has the right to change...unless of course, the screenwriter has some serious backing or heavy pull...

That's so true. In a way, he is the unsung hero of the show. From young LHQ sacrificed by hiding his true self by pretending to be cruel and harsh so that his father won't continue to use and force YH against him. Then he endured being humiliated by Shunde as he continued to search for the frost poison cure, while always thinking about how to save YH. He definitely is strategic and thinking ahead, like how he disguised SiYu's death...

I meant that his dad ended up being singularly focused on Wanhua Valley, and was not with anyone else. Nothing was said about LHQ’s mother at all.
That said, LHQ’s dad was not really evil. Yes he’s caused the death of many spiritual masters but he did it for the greater good, trying to find a cure for the frost poison. He was cruel to LHQ using YH as a tool because he wants LHQ to toughen up and fight against the ultimate enemy, the Grand Tutor or Tianshi
