It is certainly not captivating to me. Not that I understood anything when watching raw. :-D But still, it was…
Yup I know what you mean. Too many side plots that take away the focus from the cases. But from the upcoming trailers, seems like more costume period investigation dramas are coming up. I think I've got most of them in my PTW list lol

I'm watching another show that premiered the same day, Maiden Holmes. Also not the best but I find it more bearable and it has an interesting plot. It's probably a lighter version of say Ancient Detective (maybe Golden Hairpin too).
So far after first episode, it's actually not too bad (far better than God of Lost Fantasy that premiered the same time).
This belongs in the mid-range category - not high production values but not low budget either. There's room for improvement in the martial arts choreography, though.
It's nothing like the trailer at all, so far. Maybe it'll get better. But it doesn't really have that big budget production feel... Peter and Tang Jing Mei are alright so far, but some of the others are a bit annoying...
Thank you for the wonderful review. Just joined MDL recently and only chanced upon this article like a year late lol
Started watching Princess Silver recently (I'm on a mission to catch up on dramas that had been on my PTW list for too long now) and reaching the midway point.
To me, this is one of the better period/ wuxia dramas that I have watched in recent memory and I agree with the points you made.
I guess people view things differently but I do believe this show deserves more love than hate.
Just found out about this from the feeds. Synopsis sounds really intriguing, trailer looks refreshingly different - based on a manhwa, right? No wonder there's some anime inserted.
The trailer looks really good (and quite long, at 5 mins lol). The FL is the one in Unicorn Girl currently, no wonder she looks familiar. No indication of number of episodes, and debut seems to be 29/8.
This drama is surprisingly quite good, better than I expected. It's not easy to watch though, and I've reached the midway point.
As mush as I'm pissed at the scriptwriters / novel author, good job to them for delivering much drama to the plot. So much suffering to endure... (both the characters and the viewers)

I like Sebrina here, so will continue to watch.

Looks really good, hope it comes out soon.
