Hmmm... The SLS is strong in this one. I like Young Master Ning, he's stylish, elegant, eloquent and a gentleman. The way he handles the rejection is very cool.
The first husband is truly creepy, definitely needs professional help. Perhaps a diagnosis at Jiu Ling Tang is in order...
Very nicely written, dear friend ❤️ I've watched the first few episodes and I do agree, it's a very unique production indeed. Hopefully we get more fusion sageuk with fantasy elements in the near future.
The second to last para is an interesting point + helpful to know if one hasn't seen any of this series yet. 👍…
Totally agree, the synergy is such a pleasure to see. It's also less confusing for the viewers too ☺️ Since you like dark content, you might like this web series 😉
Another one? And this sounds so fun as well and two more to come. Well, seems like I've to go on a tomb raiding…
Yes, this one is a little darker and complicated compared to the previous seasons. Hopefully it gets even better in the following sequels. Thanks for your ever supportive feedback, dear 🤗❤️
Excellent write-up. Love the thought process going deep into the various facets of the "antihero" concept, and the generalised categories you have provided pretty much covers the broad spectrum of what we have seen in most productions thus far.
Aside from the evolution of how protagonists are conceived, I'm also intrigued by the flip side - the new age or contemporary villains. I'd like to see them being explored as the "antivillain" too, if that makes sense. Perhaps both concepts not so dissimilar after all...
In any case, how the roles are perceived and interpreted by viewers are quite interesting indeed. From the examples you provided, I've watched Ning Que, Ning Yi and Ashin. Just to add on some others that I've seen recently who fit into somewhere within the gamut - Kang Yo Han (Devil Judge), Yoo dong Man (Police University), Lee Dong Shik & Han Joo Won (Beyond Evil), Wei Jiang (Hunter), Fushimi Kyosuke (Red Eyes: Kashi Sousa-han) and of course the entire team from Taxi Driver, just to name a few.
Thanks for your efforts and hope to see more of your articles!
Major credit to Tan Xuan, who composed the original score. I'm only up to ep 4 but that car scene with the orchestral bgm and the two leads quietly stealing glances at each other... That is pure class.
The atmospherics in this drama, as it was in O&O, are brilliantly brought to life. There's no rush, choppy editing or forced portrayals. We're looking at two individuals utterly immersed in their characters. This drama is such a privilege to watch ❤️
I like this kind of FL calm and collect. When i watch till 10 episode, I really feel this drama similiar to" love…
I think a lot of C-historicals should've cast Peng Xiao Ran as the FL. No doubt her character is quite well-written here but her acting range is top class. I hope we'll see her in more projects in the future, what an exceptional talent she is!
He is not happy clearly she forced herself or threatened him with her life. There was this flashback of someone…
Ok, I saw that scene (in episode 2). Tbh, it's too brief to make anything out of what actually transpired. I guess we shall have to see how the events are connected as the story unfolds.
Interesting lighthearted watch so far. I'm enjoying the interactions between the four leads (the 2 couples).
I don't really like scenes involving the third couple though (ML's sister and FL's ex-fiancé). I find that their characters are too immature, although not exactly unrealistic since I've encountered such people in real life before. Anyway, I hope those two don't get in the way of wherever the plot is heading.
2 episodes so far, Peng Xiao Ran is amazing. She knows her character and knows her lines. I'm tired of that same…
I do agree regarding historical FLs, as far as the non-warriors are concerned. Bai Lu and Peng Xiao Ran, even Xuan Lu, are my pick for best "subtle and nuanced" FLs of the year (so far).
I prefer NYZ too but are we really signing up for heart break
Lol! His character here is almost exactly the same as his role there. I know what you mean, he was paired with Su Xiao Tong instead, which was kind of adorable I guess lol

I need more RAM too, come to think of it lol ❤️

Looking forward to the two gents leading this drama 😊
Now that just made my day!

I had some fun with it, though I did pull my hair out in some parts lol
