I kind of didn't understand the ending can someone please explain it
From what I saw the movie is asking the viewer to decide if the whole events of the movie was real or not.
In my view I think the whole of the events of this movie was "a play acted within a movie" so it was all acted out and the grand guignol club is forever acting out different scenarios similar what happened in this movie.
Can someone spoil it for me ? is there death or cheating? what makes it R Rated and is it a happy ending
If you want spoilers I can do that
Grand Guignol is more of a horror gore genre of movie rather than a BL movie.
Death: There's A LOT OF IT. GORE, GUTS, LOTS OF BLOOD. If you don't like horror movies don't watch this movie. Almost all of the main characters die in horrible ways apart from the main character Itsuki. For example the most guresome death was the club president Shinji, who got stabbed in the guts badly with a knife sticking out of him, he removes the knife out of his belly causing his guts to spill out on the floor and dies. His head is chopped off and Teshio picks up his cut head and drinks the blood from it. So yeah very messed up.
Cheating: Not really, there's like maybe two couples maybe confirmed in this movie. But as I said this movie is more on the horror/gore side than romance. Everyone is trying to survive rather than worrying about cheating or romance. The BL in this movie is more like a "fanservice" I feel like it does'nt really mean anything in this movie.
R-rating: The gore and horror happening in this movie pretty much. There is one BL sex scene that pretty hot but it's brief. There's some kisses as well, but pretty much the gore and blood is most of the R-rating.
Happy Ending: HELL NO LOL. It's more of a open ended/metaphor ending. As most of the main cast dies apart from Itsuki. Even so the movie is playing an illusion/trick on you, making you question if the whole events that happen in the movie is "a play happening" or if it is real life. So it's up to the viewer to decide if the ending/whole movie was real or not.
Hope that makes sense. I could spoil the whole movie but I thought that would take too long. In summary this movie is a horror/gore genre rather than a BL romance movie.
Lol if you wanted to see the love scenes, just don't skip and watch the 1st 7 minutes of the episode. The begining…
………….
please watch the rest of the episode. They are there you can’t miss them. Sure they are brief and don’t show anything but you can clearly tell what is going on.
Holy Molly!.... speechless..So I was so eager to see the promised "explicit love scenes" in the second episode,…
Lol if you wanted to see the love scenes, just don't skip and watch the 1st 7 minutes of the episode. The begining of episode 2 is a sex scene you did'nt even need to skip.
But yes Ritsu is a super jerk in this episode, can't blame anyone who hates him.
I just wanted to say, this is by far the most faithful closest page by page of a manga adaptation.
I am in awe of the cast and director Miki in bringing this simple story into life. They went above and beyond the manga version even adding additional scenes and sticking to the source material.
2023 has barely started and already I have a early favourite BL drama. I would write a review for this series but I barely have any time for anything these days.
can someone explain to me what a FOD version is? is the version on viki uncencored? or the version on gagaoola?…
I wonder how many times I am going to explain this.
So FOD (Fuji TV on Demand) is Fuji TV online premium streaming service, users have to pay to see content like Gaga like Netflix but only in Japan. Fun fact it's where pornographer originally debuted on.
Fuji TV got rights from ABC TV and thus they have posted all of the episodes on their platform. Someone has ripped all of the episodes from FOD to post on a site. So anyone watching beyond episode 1 is watching the "FOD version" of the drama.
We don't know if there's a difference between boardcast version (ABC and Gaga version) and the FOD version as well.
This will be answered when the boardcast version of episode 2 is released because there's a a lot of explict scenes in the 1st 6 minutes of that episode alone lol.
Answer to subs: Have to wait weekly or wait for a kind subber to sub all of the episodes.
Yeah I beleive it was Mamiya. Acutally I think Mamiya co-worker raped and killed Bunta. But I am pretty sure Mamiya…
Yeah that makes sense.
So Mamiya may of ordered those teenagers to target Bunta. Honestly I don't know. Or it could be fate, but then again a lot of people knew about Bunta's murders (apart from Jin and Shota?)
Ugh need to watch this movie with subs again to make sense of the plot.
LIKE I HAVE SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS.1.) Who raped Kiritani extacty?2.) Who raped and killed the children…
Hey thanks for also being interested in the story. I don't think not many watched the movie.
I have different views to yours.
It's ture that Kai is NOT Kiritani rapist. Kai's friend Shota confirms this to him. I don't think Kai was Kiritani rapist anyway. I think that child Kai was hurt by what Kiritani said before which was "he was'nt interested in men". In a way maybe Kai wanted revenge agaist Kiritani. But also Kiritani mentioned that Kai lied about being the rapist so that Kiritani can take his anger out on him instead of the real rapist who Kai knows.
The reason why the "rapist/murder" says to Kai that "he won't kill him" is because they know each other. I think 100% the real rapist of the story is Mamiya who was the "master" of the gay bar where Kai is working at. The police mentioned this to Kiritani as well, Kiritani tried to kill Mamiya when trying to burn the room at the gay brothel but failed. So Mamiya killed Kiritani when Kai was asleep in the forest.
I think the relationship between Mamiya and Kai is that, Mamiya's thinks highly of Kai. He pays him lots of money for his work done at the gay brothel. Kai says that Mamiya protects him and pays him a lot. Of course we all know they are abusing Kai, but we don't see Miyata and Kai interact much with each other. Something the movie does'nt explore.
Mamiya would also be the one behind Bunta's death as well but I don't know the reason behind that murder. So I don't think Kai was involved in the rape and death of Kiritani. I think Kai HAD to run away from dead Kiritani because he would get caught.
So regarding the theory of the rap music stage area, I think they are all poor/social outcasts. I don't think they were all victims of rape. I think Kai dragged Kiritani down was him, I explained before. Kai wanted Kiritani attention maybe miyata knew about this and decided to rape Kiritani for this reason alone. I mean who knows.
But still you can watch this movie and make many different conclusions compared to others. Which is pretty amazing.
That was something. It was something I did'nt expect AT ALL.I feel like I need to buy the manga to make sense…
LIKE I HAVE SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS.
1.) Who raped Kiritani extacty? 2.) Who raped and killed the children around the neighbourhood
I might have an answer for both of these questions but it might be the owner of the gay brothel in the movie but that's my guess. Still movie does'nt tell you.
Apart from these questions this movie was a traumatic mess (in the best way to summarize it). IT'S got heavy themes of trauma, rape, sex and death in it (how is this NOT a R18 I am shocked lol). So if you hate rape you might want to avoid this movie.
Poor Kiritani, a main character going through rape and then having your life ruined by some random guy claiming to be his raper. He changes his personaility and tries to save the person he likes but having to die in the end because of it. That is the worst fate a main character can go through. What a downer.
I can't really say this movie is a BL because there's so many heavy themes this movie focuses on. I can see this movie being on the same genre as dangerous drugs of sex (without the happy ending).
This movie kept me on edge though I really could'nt see the ending from a mile away. I don't know what I just watched and I don't really know what to rate this movie. I need more time to think about it.
Yeah I am a bit embrassed getting the uke and seme roles the wrong way around when I watched the PV. Goes to show how not fluent in Japanese I am in. But still accurate to the novel (minus the snow).
But regardless from the PV it looks good, I am looking forward to watching a really emotional angst Bl plot.
The novel ends with Koichi "dying", although I don't think the novel really says how Koichi "dies" so maybe the drama will show that.
Mitsuru relfects on his time with Koichi (in sakura blossoms season the reason why I say that is because weather is important in this story) and is thankful for his short time with Koichi. So it's a very bittersweet sad type of ending.
In my view I think the whole of the events of this movie was "a play acted within a movie" so it was all acted out and the grand guignol club is forever acting out different scenarios similar what happened in this movie.

If it’s not to your standard then idk.
But yes Ritsu is a super jerk in this episode, can't blame anyone who hates him.
There's 3 sex scenes in the 1st 6 minutes alone in episode 2. Don't know if they will show it in the boardcast version.
I think they added a sex scene not in the manga, which is their 1st time (the manga in this chapter had 2 sex scenes).
I am in awe of the cast and director Miki in bringing this simple story into life. They went above and beyond the manga version even adding additional scenes and sticking to the source material.

It's going to be fun watching this movie and compairing it to the novel. That is whenever we international fans get to watch this movie.
But looking back at this drama I am growing more fondly of it.
So Mamiya may of ordered those teenagers to target Bunta. Honestly I don't know. Or it could be fate, but then again a lot of people knew about Bunta's murders (apart from Jin and Shota?)
Ugh need to watch this movie with subs again to make sense of the plot.
I am thinking if I should wait and pay a sub to futekiya to read this manga or just cave in and buy the manga from Amazon Japan.
I have different views to yours.

But in general it's a SUPER depressing story (plus based on author's real life events) I think it's WAY MORE tragic and sad than Eternal Yesterday
But as time goes on ppl start to forget him. Only Mitsuru remembers him at the end of the story.
But regardless from the PV it looks good, I am looking forward to watching a really emotional angst Bl plot.
