yall will find any reason to hate on simple dramas lol relax yo it aint that deep
I just don't understand this neither.
Even if it is a simple drama so far, it's done very well. The lighting, directing and acting is all done well. The writing/adapation of the manga to drama is the only thing that's wonky right now.
I think it's not to their same standards compared to the other similar (not really) drama airing right now. I personally don't like that drama (for personal reasons).
To non manga viewers thinking the 1st two episodes of this drama may seem simple/clichèed but as a manga reader believe me the story gets more complex with the CG work enviroment and the development of Yanase and Kaneda.
The drama writers are going with the "slow burn" route but hopefully they will include elements of the manga story that hopefully win the non manga viewers over.
Yeah I hate to admit it but this drama introduced me to Naito and he's put a spell on me with his handsomeness/smile.
Yes I have a crush on this guy.
So much that I went and watched Kamen Rider Saber for him, like LOTS of KR fans say Saber is bad and I am like "It's got Naito in it and he's a good dancer. I don't care" lol.
Never know a series can be so hated for being simple. If we want to talk about cliche, it’s literally every…
I mean the drama in the 1st 2 episodes seem simple so far. But as a fan of the manga it's going to be more complex later on (god I hope so drama writers go through with it).
The manga goes way more into the work culture and the character's development then the OTHER drama airing right now. But the drama has'nt shown it yet because there's like 6 more episodes left.
I am defending this drama because I love the manga and the characters of this story. I hope the drama writers don't mess this up
I don't understand what the users are watching the drama thinking Yanase has feelings for Kaneda. Because when…
Like I said I don't understand how watching these 2 episodes how can you conclude Yanase is in love in Kaneda so quickly. Are we watching the same show?
No being drunk does'nt give you feelings, but being drunk impairs normal rashional thinking. These two were not thinking normaly when they were both drunk. Maybe their ture intentions came out when they were both drunk.
What internal monologue does yanase mentioned that he liked Kaneda in anyway? He's scared that Kaneda's hates him because of the kiss (work related) and avoids the topic to maintain a normal working relationship. That's what I got from Yanase monologue.
Again Yanase kissed Kaneda because he misunderstood him, plus yanase personaility is that he likes to get close to people he's literally slept with multiple people/have one night stands with them (explained better in the manga). So he's not shy to kissing random people.
Like I even remembering translating the interview with Naito and he thinks Yanase is unsure of his feelings in the 1st half of the series.
Yes Yanase said in episode 1 this whole series is a "flashback" but episode 1 Yanase is in a different mindset from that monologue. Ugh it's frustrating because manga Yanase is more straightforward.
Like I think the way the manga was written was fine if not really fast paced. The drama scriptwriter are trying to go to a realistic appoach and thus it's much more slow paced and really frustrating. Yes I am slightly annoyed at the writer for this.
So when did Yanase start liking Kaneda? Him being sorta nervous etc. came out of nowhere… I mean, as a viewer…
I don't understand what the users are watching the drama thinking Yanase has feelings for Kaneda. Because when I watched it, I got the sense Yanase is in denial, Yanase is'nt in love with Kaneda yet.
Like Yanase is nice to Kaneda because it's a part of his personality plus he's his mentor so it's natural that he is being kind to him.
The kiss, like in the manga is a massive misunderstanding. Because Yanase reacted to Kaneda form of worship as "love" and well Kaneda did'nt deny it so it made it worse. After the kiss you could see Yanase knew he "misunderstood" Kaneda's form of "like" towards him. Plus both were drunk.
Yanase was in the bathroom trying to go through excuses for the kiss (so baiscally denial). But in the end he never mentions it to Kaneda and thinks "it's fine as a senior and junior relationship only". He's just right now trying to be a good mentor/role model to Kaneda.
Kaneda is different tho, it's clear he has feelings for Yanase
I watched the Raw and I don't know about the drama, I can not connect to a character that worship other person…
So Kaneda admires Yanase because of the profession that he is in. It's ture he does'nt know Yanase personally and only knows him through his profession. It's like having a crush on someone baised on their looks.
But this episode does show that Kaneda is starting to know Yanase a little bit more as an acutal person and not just a "god" but it's still work related. Maybe episode 3 will go into that futher.
I expected that the romance in this drama is going to be a "slow burn" both are unsure of their feelings right now. That's how I saw it when I watched the episode. Althought myabe Kaneda is close to realise his feelings sooner then Yanase (which is how it was in the manga as well)
Where do you watch the raw can you give me a link?
I want to be honest, I don't recomend watching the episode raw if you don't know Japanese because this show heavily relies on monologue. I suggest to wait for the subs to come out.
For future ref I use sites like 9tsu (for raws) and dramacool (for subs)
Episode 2 (I watched it raw with no subtitles) I mean it's diverting from the manga a bit. But I think it was…
Like where do I begin.
I like Kaneda honestly, but from a manga reader this is too much Kaneda monologue already. Like most of the episode was in Kaneda's viewpoint making me think Kaneda is the main character of this drama. The amount of Yanase monologue was so tiny only a small insight into his time in Canada was shown.
But I do like the drama is trying to give equal viewpoints on Yanase and Kaneda so we see their feelings from both sides. So far Yanase is in denial about his feelings and Kaneda's feelings are pretty much confirmed by the end of the episode (the love alarm went off).
Thinking about it from a non manga reader their feelings make sense and feels more realistic then the manga.
Kaneda got kissed and is just confused wanting to know why he got kissed but has feelings Yanase misunderstood and is trying to explain an excuse but brushes it off and ignores the whole thing.
(If I remember in the manga Yanase kissed Kaneda and thought he was cute then every cute expression from Kaneda he caught feelings)
My favourite parts was Yanase in the bathroom going through lines of what to say to Kaneda (only not doing it at all..). Naito's English was acutally passable for that flashback in Canada.
Next episode preview: Pretty much going off the rails from the manga with this "field trip" with both Yanase and Kaneda. I am still looking forward to it!
That was such a good 1st episode! It's very well directed and the OST is on point.God I am looking so much for…
It felt similar yet different to the manga, gald we are going to have Yanase and Kaneda viewpoints. I loved that "what's to come" from Yanase so they might end with the two living together in Canada huh? So looking forward to that!
But my god drama version Kaneda is more extreme then the manga version. That mini shrine he has of Yanase, plus the way he talks about Yanase like he is a godly being and him being a moral talk was something else.
Yanase is pretty much Yanase shown through Naito who is pretty much Yanase lol. He did a good job, I like his deep voice in the monologue (but being young in real life which is suprising)
But Seto acting was fricking amazing, god like for me. He was so cute and soically awkward at the same time. Drunk Kaneda is so moe!
Hibiki extreme fundanshi, kudos to Takuma Wada for the monologue and wild reactions. Really funny to watch.
Not really into cocktails but it's interesting to see the recipes then mix it up with BL fantasies lol.
I like the relationship between Hibiki and Hokuto, because Hibiki hates her a lot. It's refreshing to see lol. They are not going to be a couple at all.
Hmm is this only only a 2 episode special? That's really short lol.
I am counting down the days until 16th of June because I've been re-reading this manga a lot. I've really grown on manga Yanase and Kaneda and I am super hyped to see the drama version.
Oh I was watching Real Folder web documentary on Naito Suichiro (Yanase) and it has behind the scenes footage from Senpai Love, let me tell you there's a lot of scenes in the drama that are not in the manga so get ready for that (eg. there's a ballroom waltz between the two)
The other thing I learned is that this drama is NOT a coincidence that Naito and Seto have been in a drama together. In fact a MBS drama in 2019 called Toritsu Mizusho (water bussiness) episode 3 had Seto Toshiki trying to do a job of a host and guess who was his colleague/senior was no other then Naito (in a cameo before he did Kamen rider saber in 2020).
This drama Senpai Love is the second time Naito and Seto have been in a drama together. There was a reason they got casted. Sneaky MBS.
Good to see Fuji tv back in producing BL dramas (although this might be with a collabration with Rakuten TV not…
Took me a while to realize that Takeda was Grease in Kamen Rider Build lol. I remember one scene where Sento (Inukai) was guilt riden by killing one of Grease's friend and he backhugged Grease's character because he was so guilty and was asking for forgiveness.
That scene I thought was hella gay when I watched it lol.
Now years later Takeda is in his own BL series with his own co-partner. Asako is already in his own BL drama and Inukai kind of was in a BL drama with Zettai BL.
In the end this is just a really funny real life AU to me lol.

It just may take more episodes to do that.

This applies to both viki and GagaOOlala

Apart from this line Yanase says: "That's not ture" but he actually said "Hold on a minute/wait!" like he's interrupting his boss.
I think it's nice to see Fuji-tv produce another BL drama.
