That's a great theory. He is suspicious, but at the same time he does not strike me as a bad person. It seems like he knows more than he lets on. Maybe he indeed is a time traveler.

I also suspect Khan. He is annoyed with Ayan because he suspects him of influencing Thua. He is obsessed with the curse. In the scene from episode two, in which Akk notices Ayan's writing in a notebook, Khan is there too. He must have also noticed that mysterious notebook. He is nosy.

I think that many of us have admired someone for who they are and for their accomplishments. It is especially common in high school – juniors look up to seniors. I actually had a similar experience to Akk’s. Before I became the leader of the Red Cross club in my high school, I met the previous leader. He was my senior by three years, and he was impressively smart, hard-working, and well-behaved. I was astonished by his work ethic and calmness. I admired him so much and aspired to be like him. I always listened to the advice he gave me. He was like some kind of an ideal. However, I did not have a romantic crush on him. :)
I would love it if this series portrays Akk's relationship with Mes as that of a young student looking up to an accomplished older one – something akin to Ayan's looking up to Dika. Not everything has to be about romantic attraction.

Now I remembered the scene in which a student whose face was not shown was burning the protesters' posters. I do not remember which episode this scene was from, but I caught a glimpse of that student's hand. He had a watch on that looked like Akk's watch.

We have not seen Mes before. This episode introduced him.
