Hitorigurashi - Living Single Okay, this like aspires for The Drama That Bored The Most Out Of Me award... Yes, she lives alone, she looks for a place, she buys a mattress... It's like the most tedious thing ever, I watched 4 episodes for months, LOL. Now I'm at episode 5, she meets up with a guy in a bar, and I'm like okay if there's not an "almost r-rated" scene or smth, then I'm falling asleep, lol. There is one guy I guess he's the main, she is sort of dating him, do I care whatever happens? Can't say that I do. Dropped.
Modifications of OMG What am I watching?/ WTF What am I watching? / WHAT am I watching? seems to prevail in comments of people watching this. I still hop now and then on the streaming sites, to catch the new ones... No change. LOL
Hilarious! I love it! If you are looking for a school drama of a different kind, then you are right with this…
Yeah, so much weirdness spurs merely from converting such material into live action. Otherwise yes, where else would a viewer find a girl dressed like that, demanding extra grasshoppers in her grasshopper rice in all seriousness xD
Loved the 1st episode, and I guess that if you will too, then you can safely watch the remaining 10;-) EDiT: Just watched the final episode... FL of this drama is quite some FL:-) And I can very well imagine how would american version of this be, what kind of happy ending they would make:-) Even without it, I know how much weeping would koreans or chinese add. No one beats Japan. (Well, perhaps only in skinship... The airport kiss was awful:)
"With such an oblivious character who can't read her own heart nor her surroundings, there is bound to be plenty of drama to ensue and that's exactly what this drama is."
Then there's BOUND to be a plenty of drama? If we have characters who don't even know what they feel and what they want, then what kind of drama CAN there be? Just a string of charades & shenanigans, the writer is excused from writing a proper drama, just collects paycheck but I also might be excused from watching. Thanks for the heads up, I'll skip this one.
"The ML is a yandere, but on the soft side, as in he'd never harm the FL. He does let her live her life and doesn't force her into anything, but just wouldn't stop following her around!"
Also, he needs to keep following FL, because the writer is out of "fateful coincidences" which keep the two people meeting again and again.
Being considerably set against c-dramas, still I tried to give this one a chance, due to its promising, unique setting. Although it has good looking poster and good looking leads and I was enjoying the 4K 2160p picture and the exteriors which looked quite pirotesque, unfortunatelly the show started to annoy me quite early. And that was when they first arrived on the island and everyone started speaking english (or what they consider it). Yeah, no surprise, NOT a fan of asians doing that. I don't care whatever reason they have for it. Please, stick with your native tongue. DROPPED.
How come I think I know the lead actress when apparently I haven't watched anything else on her drama list?;-) Aaanyways. Episode 3 caught my attention in more way than one. The lead male character earned some points with me (even when beside-himself-drunk, first thing on his mind was to protect her?) Then there was an actual clothes joke made in a C-DRAMA: not just having everyone wear horrendous clothes and say nothing about it ("Every programmer has a plaid shirt". Hilarious.) They clearly showed that it's the people closest to you that you need to watch out for most (the friendly roommates were the ones to upload most of the online stuff) and they clearly showed that it was uncalled for and the most romantic gesture was to get rid of it (I would kiss him for the deleting program he made;-) Either way I dropped this aftrer episode 8. They already got somehow together and the romantic excitement is completely gone. Also ML is not attractive.
Also, why won't japanese speak japanese, among them japanese? Don't they have their own words for "red carpet"? Why do they insist on saying "retto karpetto" to each other?? NATIVE english speaker would not understand that. WHO they're saying this for?
After full 3 episodes, I'm really looking forward for her to take the wig off. That fringe line is really hurting her look. Just get rid of it, you'll look hundred times better. Pitty we won't be able do the same for the MALE lead so easily;-)
The drama starts really slow. Nothing much happens apart from longing looks of ML and akward falling in love.…
I second that. I lived in Oslo, Norway for several months and while I planned to learn & use at least a few basic phrases in norwegian I literally never got to it, because the entire time I was there I have not met a single 1 person children included who would not talk to me in fluent english the instant they saw that I am a foreigner. They have no dubbing in their TV. Therefore, they learn english well pretty early in their lives, just from tv shows and movies. While that was many years back, I guess now in the age of internet, they still learn english somehow. That being said, even knowing this, I kinda understand lossswierllos' rant: "Why all other people, who are not Chinese, are so ugly? And why everyone in Finland speaks English?" LOL I really had to smile reading this, because watching 3 episodes of this drama, you can't miss how all the chinese are petite & quiet and whenever there is a local he/she is a blonde not-a-looker, speaking english in kind of loud, contrived manner, seemingly also among each other. While I know they do speak english well there like I mentioned, it does kinda stand out for the viewer so I do understand lossswierllos' comment. Practical explanation, they probably spoke like that for the camera. And the producers were not looking for the best acting & best looking people. Why outshine the main romantic couple;-) Other explanation which I read, is that they 99% hire the so-called "white chinese" for these bit parts, hence their generic accent, hinting nothing nordic. Because the country was Finland, they just picked any of them who were blonde.

On one of my usuals (registration needed), site that's been around for 15 years... Sorry I don't post links. Every time I did, I either got banned from MDL, or the links site got into problems and closed. Just know it's there, if you really try you'll eventually find it.
Remake: She 33, He 28.
