I was just thinking about what will pull Kim back to Porschay at this stage of the story.
As we’ve seen, Kim is a logical manipulator who acts out of self-interest, and prioritises time and efficiency above all else. The time he spends with others is utterly dependent on how useful they are to him and his goals, and he won’t sacrifice anything that will not serve his motives (or at least, that will not spark his interest). With Porschay, he approached him to gather intel on Porsche, but he is now aware that Porschay won’t be able to provide any additional information on Porsche that he doesn’t already know of, or can’t gather elsewhere more easily (like through Big). And we also saw that he’ actually not even really interested in the type of person Porsche is (I initially thought that’s what he was aiming for from Porschay). He is much more factual that I had granted him.
In this way, he is quite a cynical guy. He probably views any intimate bonds with someone else as a weakness (and him being brought up in the mafia world must have played a big part in that). Because of that, he is not easily swayed either, unlike Kinn. Kim is controlled, calm and collected. Quite cold-blooded in a way, and a bit cut-throat (though we know that he is also capable of some level of kindness, though it seems only toward those whom he deems to deserve it). A very rational character, which is why I’d also love to see him in battle. He probably has quite a quirky, and strategic fighting style that would showcase his uniqueness.
So now that Porschay has no « use » for him there are only a few things that could make Kim stay. 1. Firstly, that he still wants to keep an eye on him to see if there’s anything else that he can get from him (it kills two birds with one stone, Porschay becomes almost a sort of hostage), a bit of a « keep your friends close and your enemies closer » sort of thing. For this to be the case though, they would have to still give us a reason as to what makes Kim think that it’s worth it, yes he is cautious but he is still an opportunist. This leads me to my second point. 2. Maybe the fact that Kinn got shot because of Porsche alerts Kim. Porsche is THAT special that someone like Kinn would take a bullet for him (literally). That says a lot. Even more reason to keep Porsche’s « weakness » near him. It’ll also allow Kim to get closer to Porchay, and find out more about why Porsche became a bodyguard in the first place. The issue is that he does get his intel from Big it seems, and knowing that Big is in love with Kinn, he might not be willing to acknowledge that Kinn would actually risk his life for Porsche. Then again, Kim is very clever so he might find out anyway, but maybe it still wouldn’t interest him. Afterall, his scheme seems to revolve around a family mystery, rather than planning out of concern for the family.
Finally, one could argue that Kim is starting to feel drawn to Porschay. While that is true, the issue is that Kim is way too calculating and on guard to actually make a decision to stay by Porschay’s side (especially at this point in the story) solely based on ‘fleating’ emotions. He’s not like Kinn. He seems to have a great degree of self-control and the self-assurance that he will not let himself be affected easily by others. He might be even proud of the fact. And he won’t let anyone get so easily close to him. Then again, because he is not like Kinn (swayed by emotion), he might not feel the need to push him away, because he probably believes that he can control himself.
Still, we know that KimPorschay will be a couple, so the obvious answer is that he will most likely continue to tutor Porschay and one of the excuses above will be used as a motive. In any case, I am curious to see how Kim will react once he senses that he is developping feelings for Porschay and that it’ll be affecting his ability to rationalise. I’m thinking he’ll want to counter those feelings and put a distance, then he‘ll ultimately accept them and try to protect Porschay. Tell me if I missed any other possibilities, and thanks to all who read this far, lovelies <3
First KP thought of the day. What if Kinn got them lost in the forest on purpose knowing from the get go he was…
I was thinking of that, otherwise I’m not sure why they even went into the forest given that the other bodyguards were literally right behind the truck
Excatly!! And now Porche can choose to be with Kinn and stay by his side 😌 not because he has been forced to…
That’s a good point, it’ll shift the whole essence of the relationship itself, from one that is questionable and coerced to one that is based on mutual feelings and enthusiastic consent
The way the handcuffs symbolise their relationship (or rather what, for now, ties them to each other: the mafia world) and how Kinn uncuffed Porsche first. We then see a shot of Kinn’s hand still locked into the handcuffs. No matter what, he can at least free Porsche, but he can’t free himself
