About that ketchup scene,i thought at first maybe he was also sexually abused by someone thats why he doesn't…
Yeah, that's why I always get surprised when we get something opposite of an open ending in J-dramas/movies. But I guess open endings still got its charm, like it helps us discuss things with each other and look into everyone's perspective. Almost like reading a short story.

I agree too. It was pure. Physical intimacy doesn't always have to be sexual. For example, a hug can have different meaning in many different relationships, right?

I'm glad he broke though. I was even waiting for Sarasa to break and push Ryo off (which she somewhat did but it didn't end well on her side). I mean what can I say, nothing really good happened to any of them regardless of their individual actions.

I'm glad too! I had a wonderful time talking to you. Really helped putting my thought out there.

I am just about to watch this and the runtime is 3 hours and 38 mins. I almost didn't watch because I thought…
Shebbie ,I promise you'll be hoping for the movie to be much longer. After watching it, I wish the movie was really 3 hours and 38 mins long rather than only 2 hours and 27 mins.

But I'll be looking forward to your thoughts. This kind of movie is always great for conversations!

You can fine more about Fumi's condition here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klinefelter_syndrome

Yeah...I don't know. If he had touched Sarasa's lips like that when she became an adult....we could still somewhat brush it off. But it was just when she was only 9. So that's a bit sketchy. I believe we can get more gist of it if we read the novel.

As for the Rika scene, I believe it was frustration. As soon as the police entered the cafe, Fumi said, "I know why you are here." It's the same cycle of events. I don't think he felt anything for Rika in that sort. He saw her just as a child (just an assumption though because it seemed he was more connected to Sarasa than anyone). We all try to mend and do our best to keep a thing or a second relationship living when we know how the first one ended. We can never know how things will play out. We can meet someone from the past by chance or we may never ever get the chance too.

The sexual tension I would say didn't make me comfortable at the end. The platonic part was far better to me so I'll keep the image of their relationship as to that. Plus in my opinion, the ending kinda sucked. I was hoping for more clearance. It seemed very vague and we know, they are never getting that 'happy' ending because wherever they go, if they get found out, the society will keep on ostracizing them.

Good observation.I really wanted it to be a drama or long movie bcz there's so much going on , although transitions…
Yes, there were many things that had to be shown but it wasn't possible because of the limited runtime (I think I read somewhere that the director himself didn't want to cut so much but he had to due to circumstances which I'm not aware of) and I think like I said that adds up to the factor that we could've gotten a lot of depth in the characters than it was shown.

We are not yet even fully aware of the extent of each of the their trauma's root point. Especially Ryo? How can his family know of how violent he is during relationships and more and feel like...to normalize it? Perhaps it was the norm of his household, who knows? What about Fumi seeing people with a shadow of abandonment looming over them and offering them to come home with him? We don't usually take strangers, regardless of age, gender or their identity so....where did this stem from? What more things did Sarasa go through that compelled her to take up an offer to stay at a stranger's place with such an innocent smile on her face? (Except for the fact that we know that thing with her cousin brother.)

As for Fumi's character, yes, I agree with you. This has always been the trend to show introverts or fairly traumatized people. But the movie also shows the disregard of the society and just eating up crude facts overly exaggerated at face value. I'm glad the director didn't sugarcoat things and showed what really is the...true form of reality.

It seems very palpable that the runtime was originally much longer than it has been finally cut. The editing seemed quite abrupt during some parts. I was frustrated at certain times during such cuts because due to the wonderful cinematography and obviously, the acting (oof, goodness), I would get myself to be emotionally immersed as a certain scene plays out and then ZIP, it would cut in the blink of an eye.

I feel like that would be my only technical complaint with this film but other than that I would say the other thing that compelled me to think that way about the runtime is that we didn't really get much into Fumi's mindset. But then, my head is trying to wrap it up like perhaps, it shows how closed off he is (?). If not everything, most of him, is just a mystery of its own.

Just to add, I absolutely didn't expect anything less from Tori Matsuzaka. He has always been such a phenomenal actor (legit my favourite along with the late Miura Haruma). Such a versatile actor who can play such multi-dimensional roles. Gotta say, I'm genuinely surprised with Ryusei. I knew what I was getting myself into when I got a gist of his character way before I was going to watch the movie so I was nevertheless, nervous. I've always said I would like Ryusei to play more intense antagonistic roles, like villain, for example. But this was different. His acting was so good here that I wanted to punch him (not him but his character LOL) through the screen.

This is the first work I am seeing of Suzu Hirose and wow, I am just blown away by how amazing she is. She legit embodies Sarasa here. Like as if she became one with the character she is only supposed to play.

Now to the film itself, that ketchup scene was a real whiplash. I absolutely didn't expect that to play out like that. That one scene really makes you question your whole perception of the movie till that scene. It further makes me stress on how I wish I could know more about what Fumi was really thinking. Sometimes it felt like I was seeing a walking, living wall. He's the kind of person who feels like thin air in the room. You can never notice him. He blends in so perfectly, it's...intriguing.

Overall, the film is complex. I cannot define in any perfect words how it made me feel. I was left with a confusing feeling. Too many question marks buzzing around inside my mind. I would say I stayed more for the acting, the cinematography and the background score. The story is quite controversial if seen not from a viewer's perspective (who's getting all the sides of the stories and getting insights into the situations).

In the end, it is just a movie with broken people, which most of us are, but to some extent not like the characters of this movie. Some unjustified discussions and choices were made and therefore, the arise of a myriad of complexities.

Plus, I don't believe this is the kind of movie you can just simply recommend to someone. It would need a lot of explanations to even convince them to get interested.

Damn, FINALLY! Finished the last two eps just now and man oh MAN I was dreading a sad ending. I was like "PLEASE…
Just adding it here that I absolutely adore the acting development of Dylan. I've seen him in Miss the Dragon and The Rational Life (one of my most favourite drama, seriously) but LBFD has really pulled all new strings and is now making me look forward to his future works (initially, I solely came here for Zhang Linghe). I hope he gets to work with directors just like the one who did LBFD so that they can bring out the good in him.

Damn, FINALLY! Finished the last two eps just now and man oh MAN I was dreading a sad ending. I was like "PLEASE WRITERS GIVE ME AT LEAST EVEN A 2 SECONDS OF HAPPINESS PLEASE" and yes! They granted that. Of course, I wish they gave us a bit more with all the new info last minute but all's well that ends well, right?

Now, it seems like my weekends will be back to being empty :( LBFD was the only good thing that happened in August for me. This month was filled with all sorts of bad luck for me but this show was the only thing that kept me afloat and looking forward to something. I will really really miss all the characters (except for that flute-playing MF and that snake emperor, FY)!

Perhaps a re-watch will definitely be worthwhile after some weeks ;)

This feels like the longest week of my life. Weekend, please come soon! Seriously, since August started with this banger of a drama, my head has been simply clouded with it. Literally not ready to say goodbye to this gorgeous GORGEOUS show and I might give a full re-watch again from the start after it's done airing this weekend.

On The Sound of Magic Aug 23, 2022
Finally got around to watching this. Initially, I planned to binge-watch it right away when it was released a while ago but things in my file piled up and I had to put on my yet-to-watch list. But the wait has been worth it. I was really pulled into the story and its characters all throughout the 6 episode long musical drama. The songs were nice here and there but I primarily focused on the lyrics rather than the melody.

Choi Sung Eun is a person to watch out for. Her acting was beautiful, I almost couldn't believe that this is her first role as the main lead. She definitely rocked it with her skills. As for Ji Chang Wook, listen, I love that man. Healer was my first K-drama and my one of my favourite ones to ever exist. I've loved him mostly in all of his dramas but after he was back from his service, his script choices have been quite.....not to my taste. But somehow when I watched the trailer of this show, I was like, "Hmmm, you know what? I think he's gonna rock this and I'm gonna fall for him once again." And he did! I feel like JCW rocks roles where there are many layers to them. He's outstandingly good in action/thriller shows and playing dudes who has a secretive identity like Healer, The K2, and here. He's just too good at playing roles where you're going to look at him through the screen and think, "What is this man? Is he nice or is he just a weird person? Why can't I figure him out at all?" You get me?

And, Hwang In Yeop, MY BOY. Sorry, love, I have not watched True Beauty but lo and behold, I knew him since Tale of Nokdu days when he played that cold-blooded personal guard of the prince (played by none other than Our Nations's Disappointed Man, from EAW, Kang Tae-oh). Oh man, HE WAS SO GOOD. He reminds me a lot of Lee Joon-gi somehow, must be his eyes and he was so so good in here. I loved him. I kind of liked his character development here but I wish we could see in which path did he go? Did he finally find his very own bumpy road where flowers grow? Who knows.

The last episodes really gripped me to my seat as I watched things start unfolding and no, I was not disappointed at all. That is the whole point of the show. "Do you believe in magic?" What is even magic? What kind of mystery lies to it? Are they all just tricks or there's something more to it? In the end, it's for us to figure out what happened to characters for whom we want our answers. I think I'm gonna try to figure out my own answers just like others. Or maybe, just leave it as a certain old mystery.

Oh god, my heart swells up from all the love I have for this drama. It's definitely going to end up being one of those shows which I'll forever cherish and always recommend to others. I know 2024 is a bit far away but it doesn't matter. Time will fly away fast so I'll hold tight & look forward to S2.

I'll definitely miss seeing the characters though from next week onwards on every Wednesday-Thursday :( They were my mid-week happy pills.

Yes, yes, I facepalmed a lot during ep. 11-12. Yes, I almost died of second-hand embarrassment and turned away…
Also, at first I was kinda annoyed at the brother of the Moon Supreme at being bitter about his older brother killing their father but later I realized, or I hope I think the younger brother doesn't know what the father did to the older one. I think he missed out on some happenings because he was young.

I hope they show it in the future episodes BTW I'm curious about this fact.

P.S LOVE the fact that both the female lead and Fairy Dan Yin, is having the time of their lives being inside the two male leads body LOL.

Yes, yes, I facepalmed a lot during ep. 11-12. Yes, I almost died of second-hand embarrassment and turned away from my laptop screen during certain scenes while wheezing hard BUT I think I'm gonna convince myself by thinking that Lan Hua has still not yet grasped the position of Moon Supreme in the Mood Tribe and his origin and what his father did to him that prompted him to kill him. So I guess I'll have to wait for THE character development of hers so that she gets the useful information that's needed for lessening the silly mistakes that she's committing right now. Plus she has always lived in a secluded place far away from people most often as shown in the previous eps which sort of gives us the idea that she doesn't understand or have the knowledge to handle such immense power dynamics at this moment.

So yes, patience, myself. Patience.

10. Fascination with one particular subject. In the show, it's whales. This is true. If someone you know is autistic…
Thank you so much for your insights! I think you made me more aware of what was truly happening in the 1st episode. The little details and all of what Young Woo does not just physically but from a psychological pov, you summed them all up for my knowledge! Thank you!

Just finished the finale episode and now I`m feeling all empty. This series has been so close to my heart since…
Adding this here but it`s safe to assume now I`m a fan of Mamiya Shotaro....his acting here was SO GOOD! Even though I`ve watched him in the movie, He Won`t Kill, She Won`t Die, Tokyo Revengers (he had a pretty minor role here though, kind of foreshadowing sort). This drama & Teiichi no Kuni (the fact that he was blond in both LOL) are the ones that has made me love him more. I`m off to watch him in other stuff too!

Just finished the finale episode and now I`m feeling all empty. This series has been so close to my heart since the day I started watching it because like, it literally has everything you can ask for from a feel-good drama. I would definitely say the friendship here is off the charts. Tsuyoshi, Godai & my beloved himbo, Daimaru - THIS TRIO, gaahhhhhh I`ll miss them so damn much!

Also even though I was irked by what Miyuki did in ep2, after continuing to watch the series, I`ve loved her too! Plus ep10 pretty much makes me love her more! She was such a powerhouse in there!
