I guess I watch enough C-dramas that I'm used to dubbing. And it's possible that he might not speak his lines in Thai but in Chinese, so there's a greater chance of the mouth movements being in synch. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

From what I can tell it will have one Chinese language version and one Thai language version (mostly for the Thai audience, I guess). In C-dramas it's standard practice to dub all the voices anyway for a number of reasons, so Shogun's role will have a Chinese dub in that version (just like what happened with Achi's character in Meet You at the Blossom). He won't be speaking Thai when everyone else speaks Chinese. Or at least that's how I understand it from watching the trailer. For the Thai version I assume everyone with be dubbed in Thai.

Oh yeah, those Korean-Thai BLs. It doesn't work for me either, when they speak their own languages but everyone somehow magically understands each other it feels so unrealistic and I just can't immerse myself at all. I thought you were talking about coproductions in general.

To be honest the Korean-Thai series we've seen where they both speak their own language but "magically" understand each other seem super contrived to me. It just breaks my immersion completely

AFAIK "I Promise I Will Come Back" was a Thai charity production but with both Thai and Taiwanese actors

The actors are from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong. Only Shogun is Thai. Actors from Taiwan and Hong Kong more often adopt English first names. C-dramas are usually dubbed even when the actors speak Chinese, it's just standard practice for C-dramas for a number of reasons. Some actors do their own dubbing, others are done by professional voice actors. This drama will also have a Thai dub for the Thai audience.

Yeah, I agree. I don't see much point in this version at all. The original series works so much better.And "Taiwanese adaptation", lol. Someone must have had a brain fart 🤣

It's a "movie adaptation" of the series, but done by using the material from the series and just cutting out a lot of scenes and editing the remains together. It's not a true movie adaptation where the story is rewritten and filmed to fit into the movie format as a cohesive whole. And I don't think it qualifies as a compilation either since more than half of the series didn't make it into this cut. I don't know what this is. An abridged screen version, maybe.

It's not even a compilation. A compilation is just all episodes edited together in one long sequence. This is a movie cut where they've discarded a lot of the material from the series and only kept the major story beats, at the cost of a lot of the background and important context that the series provided.

Not as good as the series. A lot of context is missing in this movie cut, and transitions feel very abrupt. If you didn't watch the series, a lot of things that happen here seem kind of disjointed. The chemistry is still there, but the storytelling suffers. I loved the series and watched this with anticipation, but was disappointed. Watch the series instead of this.
