I agree. I was thinking that as well. Who knows. He might actually end up being R. He has been having a few sus antics before we knew that a hidden 3rd party was screwing with things. If he does end up being R then he isn't truly Kaiyan which would explain why he would kill "his" parents.

Not sure. Going by the original timeline she is supposed to have died, but Im assuming that she switched out before that happened so she prob went into hiding somewhere. Maybe she's the free spirited type who'd rather abandon her royal status and wander the world. Idk. Hopefully they do close off that plot thread eventually down the line.

No she didnt though. In one of the episodes she questioned the maid about it and it was clarified that she was a random person they found that looked somewhat like the princess and so the princess had her take her place for the marriage.

She took on some randos body though no? Didn't she also get swapped w/ the princess so the princess can avoid the marriage and she marries in her place?

How does that make sense? Then who is Crazy Yan's sister? And does that mean Qiushui is adopted?

I'm just not sure why the cast list here says that Crazy Yan is Chen Zhou's father. There have yet to be any indications of such and that would imply a much greater age for Crazy Yan. Afterall when Qiushui and Xueyu were still children, Chen Zhou was clearly already an adult and an accomplished martial artist already. If Crazy Yan is his father than in the current timeline he should be an old man, probably old enough to almost be Xueyu's father if not grandfather rather than her brother. So either MDL is wrong or I'm missing something here.

Xueyu is strongly hinted to by Crazy Yan's sister. I'm even more sure with the latest episode reveals where she was kidnapped. When she first appeared in the Xiao family it showed that she escaped from a cloaked figure which is almost surely one of the Jiang bros that kidnapped her. Also she herself said that Qiushui would always get herbs for her as a child when she was sick implying that she was often sick as a child which is probably why she mastered medicine in adulthood. Crazy Yan's sister is said to have been a sickly child. All these similarities strongly hint that Xueyu is indeed Crazy Yan's sister.

Maybe the imperial court? In a lot of these stories the imperial court ends up being a secret shadow figure and the end villain that has been working to undermine the jianghu in order to centralize power to themselves. After all from the current story we know that the imperial court so far has preserved power mainly because of the help of these martial sects in the past. But at the same time they have also garnered and accumulated too much respect and admiration from the common people that the imperial power seems to have become a backdrop. After all, theres a martial token out there that has so much weight to it that people are fighting for it in order to control the forces of Jianghu. It makes sense for the imperial court to want to wither their influence. The martial token might just be an excuse for them to do so.

So whats the deal between Crazy Yan and Li Cheng Zhao? They are apparently father and son but they were fighting each other over the command token in the past and Crazy Yan still seems like he was hurt from it (though he could be faking) but they also had a scene where they looked each other in the eye as though coming to an understanding and then Crazy Yan left. So what scheme is cooking between the 2?
And why did Crazy Yan give the token to Madam Wu if he is colluding w/ Li Chen Zhao?
If he isn't colluding w/ Li Chen Zhao then why are they fighting against each other? Is it a form of vengeance against Crazy Yan for being a deadbeat dad or something? - I can only assume since no one seems to know the connection between the 2 in the story as of yet, which implies that they probably weren't in each others lives.

Im pretty sure its a qi cultivation technique to refine qi in a kind of way. It just has a fancy name. Whether its called technique, manual, or codex, they are typically used interchangably in wuxia and xianxia novels. Though when one is termed "codex" it typically entails a more advanced and refined technique. From what I've seen in most novels, typically when one is called a "technique", its generally more common and less refined. Then, "manual's" are more refined and more advanced". A "codex" is generally among the apex of techniques. Think of the comparison of them being akin to a page of writing vs a book vs a textbook. The page (technique) doesn't take much to learn but also isn't comprehensive at all. The book (manual) is much more comprehensive but also takes longer and more effort to learn and finish. While a textbook (codex) is complex and detailed but also very difficult to fully comprehend and study and will take much longer to complete.

Looks like the story indeed self corrects itself. The MC's attempts to prevent the deaths of his close ones can only be temporary until he becomes the Wulin Leader I guess. Even though he had prevented the death of Tang Rou from his original death, he inevitably dies and looks like his family will die as well despite his greatest efforts. He is literally a mortal fighting against the heavens and destiny.

Maybe Idk. I assumed that was his wife. Especially when I looked at the casting and saw someone listed as "Chen Zhou's wife" and thought that was his irl name but I just realized that thats the other guy in the story that looks just like him. So maybe youre right.

He has a wife irl. I doubt there will be any romance w/ him and any other character. Ending will most likely end w/ him going back to the real world and officially introducing his wife.

Just finished the last episode.
Heres what I think happened. Since its basically confirmed that Shen Cheng's father is indeed the Shen kid in 1991, its also implied that Shen Cheng is more than likely a step child of Haitang's. From a prior episode we know that the Shen kid had a crush on another girl and wanted to up his study game and get into the same university as her. Most likely he succeeded considering how well off Shen Cheng's family background seems in 2026. Perhaps Shen Cheng's biological mother passed away while giving birth and Haitang ended up filling the role of mother, similar to what Yixun did with Yu Nian and her grandmother. Both decide to adopt a family to not only fill in the gap in a childs heart but also their own. It makes sense since as The Shen kid's father told Haitang that they are a family considering what Haitang's mother did for him and what she did for his son. Considering how close they ended up becoming, its not a stretch to assume that they ended up w/ a platonic marriage to fill in each others void.
The hand taking out that letter in the mailbox in 2026 at the end could just be Shen Cheng.

Probably going to be a bittersweet ending considering how things are looking. FL might survive in 2026 if the timeline changes and perhaps they will get together in their old age.

Thats what I think. But how much will change is unknown and the consequences even more so.

I think the 2026 TYX sent that letter through the mailbox kind of like a confession of sorts because he regretted not revealing himself to YHT all those years. He remembered that the mailbox from the past probably. He didn't have any ideas of changing anything I think but just wanted to confess and let out his emotions without anyone knowing.
If anything the ones who will try to change things later are more likely the children. If the 2026 YHT truly got murdered, then the son will probably want to change something in the past to change that fate of hers. We still don't know who the murderer is either and what happened to 2026 TXY. Maybe he also got killed? If so, YN will also want to do something to change that fate of his through the mailbox as well.
Will have to see how things go in the last few episodes. The name of the drama is "Twelve Letters", implying that there should be 12 letters between past and present at least. Perhaps 6 divided between the 2 timelines. If I remember correctly there have really been 2 exchanges of letters at most so far, meaning that 4 letters have been exchanged in total at most. There should be another 4 exchanges between the 2 timelines within these last 4 episodes. And considering the current situation, the only reason that would make sense to continue exchanging those letters is due to the current situation in 2026 with the death of YHT.

If he doesnt go to jail too many things would change and all their newfound relationships up till the present would be upended. He would no longer have his daughter and Haitang would no longer have a son. Its questionable if Sheng Cheng would exist while Yu Nian would have grown up an orphan.

Yu Nian is adopted. He took over father and son role for a prison friend who passed away in prison. Child Yu Nian mistook him as her father when she saw him and he took over the role seeing how old the grandmother was getting and feeling sorry for them. He was also feeling lonely and was missing a massive gap in his heart. They filled in that familial gap for him.

I don't think Sheng is adopted though. He has a father after all.
