40 episodes felt like too much, but I agree that the fast pacing is making the story lose its warmth. 16 episodes would have been enough if they had focused more on the first part instead of rushing through it. It looks like they're shifting more attention to the second half of the story after the time jump.
I don’t understand where all the hate for the ML is coming from, and by ML, I mean the character, not the actor. If this hate is due to the actor's scandal, then that's a big inconsistency. Why watch a drama he's starring in if you can't separate the actor from the character?
If the hate is directed toward the character, it still doesn’t make sense — we don’t have the whole story yet to judge their relationship. He clearly has his own backstory, and we should judge him once we know it. Yes, he’s being an a**hole to her most of the time, but it’s not like he’s the first ML to act mean toward a FL.
I like the SML too, and his interactions with HR are great. It's heartbreaking to think their relationship is doomed from the start, so I understand why people have SML syndrome

There is noway that "a fan" will drop a drama after one episode. I never judge a drama from first episode even when I'm not a fan. Just be honest with yourself.
