I'm curious about your theory so i went to check, it's 7 to 11. Now, I'm all ears π
Ah then my theory is disproven.
I thought because DFYC housed DFL's soul, maybe DFL knows of DFYC's memories (with THH), and is recreating them. This could be to replace DFYC (if DFL is bad) or to help DFYC (if DFL is good).
In her mind, she must owe him a lot. Even if she's "unkilled him", he didn't have a childhood or a life because of her. While she and TRR both were able to have their childhoods (and come to adulthood) because of him.
She's been shown to be very smart so far. She was able to guess everything Shi Ji and Renfeng were up to. She just has a blind spot when it comes to DFL due to her previous guilt
We're both guilty of watching previews before the actual episode π
It can't have been water because their clothes aren't wet. She's sort of suspended mid-air, which looked strange enough, but then he's swimming through air??
Or maybe it's magic water that doesn't get clothes wet. Or their clothes are made of Gore-Tex :D
I'm sure someone has already asked this before, but how is DFL "Dongfang" at all? He's a disciple of Divine Flame Villa, but not all disciples are going to be of the Dongfang family. Unless he's DFYC's ancestor? (And then he should try to help his descendant!)
Since the very first appearance he ever made after waking up.. Kudos to us all!!!
Is this based on previews or today's eps (I haven't been able to start watching yet)?
If it's just previews, I still feel like there is a tiny chance that he might be good (or, at least, not bad). As in, he might compete with DFYC for THH's affections (as a normal man would), but without nefarious plotting.
If it's based on today's episodes, then I stand corrected :D
Sorry, yes, I meant to include that part as well in my previous comment.
It isn't even the memory loss part that I have an issue with, because I'm actually quite curious about it. But I think a lot of the background should have been introduced early on (FL's backstory in particular), and some of the sillier scenes could have been cut out.
It seems unfair to the cast and crew that they should work so hard and be let down by bad editing.
I can't help feeling like maybe the network rushed them into releasing earlier than planned (I have *no* evidence for this; it's just an assumption based on the poor editing and scene choices).
As another person here pointed out, there's a scene in one of the trailers which should be coming up, where THH is resting her head against DFYC's shoulder. This reminds me of the time she fell asleep against his shoulder in the desert.
When you think about the market scene in yesterday's ep and some other scenes in trailers, I wonder whether there's something (either internal or external to her) that's making her relive her memories.

But alas, the whole theory is wrong π

If we're lucky, this'll be her testing DFL
And the "swimming" thing looked a bit weird π
Or he thought he was protecting her from being affected (later)? (This seems unlikely even to me)
I've got a weird theory, but it requires that the period should encompass ep14

Let's be honest, she'd probably look great in yellow and pink polka-dot. Some people just look really good :D
Actually, red and gold would be stunning... Make it happen, drama!
