I always wonder if the viewers that seem offended by the "adult stuff" believe that they themselves arrived into the world fully clothed through immaculate conception.
This was an exceptional historical drama, portraying the exhausting, tragic strife between the personal and the public aspects in the lives of the characters and the relentless struggle for political power that corrupts even those that are well intentioned.
What is it with the violence of the FL's mother? She keeps hitting everyone violently and does not stop! Even for a romcom her character is ludicrous. The acting of the FL is as bad as her mother's violence. The series is rated 8.8? Wow!
I usually don't like this type of drama but ep. 1 of this was hilarious, cute and funny with a little bit of danger thrown in. The ML is out of this world and the FL ditzy enough to tempt him. Hope it continues like this!
Open lips, perfectly made up, teary eyes blinking and no facial expressions are the sum of acting for Shin Sae Kyeong which is not surprising because she has no acting talent. Her bland performance spoiled the ML 's great performance and made the show luck lustre.
Expected something more and different. The music was superb but the badly written FL character not so much. The long suffering expressions, the nobody-understands-me attitude, the pursed lips, the helmet hair, the wallowing- in-self-pity martyred look without even knowing if she has the disease (until ep 10) were too much for 12 episodes, even if it is a makjang. I only managed to finish it because of the music.
The historical part was really well done and very enjoyable, the FL impressive as the Joseon shaman. The modern FL was frustrating with her cutetsie ways, orange hair and changing voice whenever she wanted to endear herself to other characters. Rowoon was OK. The side characters seemed to have come from a farce and were disconnected to the main plot....
The drama was simple, kind of boring but enjoyable. Lee Jun Ho did a good job (he has done better elsewhere) as did the rest of the cast with the exception of the FL. Im Yoon Ah's acting and expressions have not developed since 2012 when I watched her in Love Rain. In her case being an idol does not mean you can act.
Even for drama parents, they are god-awful! Ruining their children to live vicariously through them for what? Good grades, successful uni entrance exams, one-upping the other lunatic parents, doing to their children the same and even worse things their own parents did to them, for society's fake acceptance? The drama was well done and acted, even though I had expected it to be darker at the end. Any society, even one in a drama, that displays such behaviors needs serious overhauling.
I really like this drama but why do the makeup artists of this series make the face of the FL so shiny in every episode? It is like she is constantly sweating buckets - it is unbecoming.
