Firstly I'd like to point out that regardless of the slower paced story reveal of season 2; the acting is explosive…
The more I think about it and after reading your comprehensive post, the more it feels like we're trying to solve the puzzle but we don't have all the pieces YET...

All I know is i want more Zhe Yu and Bing Wei moments. They are as of currently the least problematic.
SAME!!! Dear procucers, Can we have them please?

Yeah... you tell me! Sorry for dampening the mood so bad. We were just 'appreciating' Shu Yi's father for all his stupidity and now this? LOL

Title HIStory4: Close to You Spoiler
I'm glad many people have enjoyed the show so far. If you can, watch it on Viki whenever possible to support it…
Although the main characters are mostly adult men and the story takes place in an office, I guess that Close to You is a bit of a throwback when compared to Trapped , for example, in that it feels a little immature and childish. Not to mention that the character Li Cheng rubbed me the wrong way because he is a little too extra and kind of annoying. Given the older protagonists, my expectations were somewhat more in line with Trapped than with the other high school dramas in the franchise. All in all, I can only blame my own expectations for this sense of disappointment LOL
I'll give it try, though, as I hope Close to You will prove me ~wrong~!

GSD understood that Shu Yi would never be happy without his father's approval, so he made a misguided sacrifice.…
Thanks! You also made a good point there. As Shu Yi hasn't confronted Shi De about the young woman he saw yet, it may as well play a bigger role in this whole "mystery". Also, wasn't there some kind of medical record in GSD's room in the US during that special episode? It really feels like we're trying to get the picture but we still don't have all the pieces of the puzzle.

Thank you so much for sharing your take on it. You made a strong point there in regards to drama. I guess I was too excited to have the show back that this implausibility in the plot didn't bother much (or at all LOL)

My mom used to tell me the story of how her aunt had her daughter's (mom's cousin) left arm tied to her back so she could learn how to write with the right hand because she was left-handed.

If your lover's parent comes to you and ask you to leave their child, and you do for whatever reason, you weren't…
I watched Kevin Hao's video on YT about his coming out a few days ago and he said something at the beginning that caught my attention. It was something like "what I found in my own experience, Asian culture is quite different from Western culture in that we are not as individualistic [...] you know, your life does not belong to only you, it also belong to your family and to the society you belong to and something that I grew up hearing is don't burden other people [...]."
So, such insight may give us a little perspective as to why Shi De did the things he did the way he did. And also a it may shine some light on Shu Yi's father's actions as well. Not to mention that Shu Yi's father is Japanese, which may be worth taking into account.

This is the link to Kevin's video if you wanna take a look at it

They are still throwing us off left and right and I hate/love them for that LOL

Gosh the MV and season 2 trailer gave me a whiplash. From what I gather from ShiDe and ShuYi's dad conversation,…
It's nice to come to this thread now we've had two episodes. The show did an excellent job at getting us all engaged and hooked.
And we the viewers responded in kind by theorizing at lot and discussing ideas, plots, etc.
It made the wait for the second part a bit more bearable for me. Such a good community.

Rumour has it that There will be a Season 3...Is that right?
I heard there was some kind of "announcement" on an Instagram live but since I didn't heard it firsthand I can only hope.

I found myself screaming “what was the reason!!” the whole beginning of the episode. ZSY was right to be pissed…
Eventually, Shu Yi's father's actions looked more like extremely misguided parenting choices than anything else. He may not be a bad guy after all but the man sure is doofy or even dumb.
When Shu Yi listed the things papa put him through as a kid I kinda lost it.

All the heartbreaking moments for what ? A comedic revival of past memories. And why does everyone keep assuming…
That made me laugh too. But, for the record, in the first case Pei Shou Yi mislead Shu Yi to assume he had romantic feelings for Shi De.
Now Zhen Xuan thinks the same because he interpreted what Dr said literally — which might be the case for some people with Asperger's. And it's time for Dr get a little taste of his own medicine, I think.

I'm about to watch episode 3 and I'm not sure I can handle it.
So Shu Yi's father played a pivotal role in all the drama after all?
And Shi De was naïve enough to think the game would be fair.

Title HIStory4: Close to You Spoiler
I think Li Chen is the character with the most potential for a good character arc (and personal growth).
On the other hand, I find his personality and his antics so annoying.

Hello is there somebody here who could explain what's the problem with the scriptwriter who wrote this story ?…
As @Rehab75 explained to me when I asked: "Several aspects of MODC, especially in the last episode, were virtually scene-for-scene copied from a 1989 Japanese BL manga Lucky Kun."
