The opening song is really boring compared to the anime
The opening song is boring compared to anything, really :) But for me the OP song is probably the least important part of the drama, so I don't care much.
I kind of don't understand why people are surprised that the plot is different from the anime. Dramas are more expensive to make and have a lot less episodes, more strict censoring and some things just don't translate well from animation to real life (even fantasy cinematographic one). Animation has more than 100 episodes and it's still ongoing, the drama even with the second season won't have as much. It's called an adaptation for a reason and sometimes religiously following the source material instead of actually adapting it makes for a very boring watch (*cough*LOF*cogh*). And also, won't you get bored watching the same thing only with actors instead of animated characters? Isn't it more interesting to see something new, where you can be surprised by the plot and actually interested in what's going to happen next? That being said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just wanted to share mine.
Wow, how is it so good? I really wasn't expecting much. I hoped it would not be as bad as LOF, but this is beyond any expectations. So engaging, funny and all characters are interesting. I'm up to episode 5 and can't wait for the next one. Even young master Xiao (I don't think we ever actually got a name, but maybe I just missed it) is not a typical dumb bully. And even though I typically don't like childish FL, I loved Xiao Wu. So far the only thing I didn't like is the opening song - so boring and forgettable. The rest though... love it, really. I know 5 episodes are not enough to judge, but those 5 episodes really impressed me.
I honestly think the story telling of this show is absolutely amazing. Episode 2 had me laughing so much with…
Agree with every word. I also really like that all the explanation and world building is very organic, introduced bit by bit, instead of a long lecture-like explanation that some marital art/fantasy dramas sometimes go for.
Hello my dear! From what I remember from the manga and anime, he always knew his past and knew that he died early…
Joy of life also presents it like a story within a story and Chinese censorship is kind of vague and inconsistent. But like I said, I don't know. For me personally the whole "infant remembering past adult life" plot device is kind of creepy, so I'm glad we didn't get it here. I feel like having an innocent character in the beginning allows for more interesting character development. Immediately confident characters with no flaws seem boring. But to each their own. I haven't seen the source material and probably not going to.

I've read somewhere that rebirth is one of the things Chinese drama censoring doesn't allow. I don't really know if that's true and it's really early to judge, because they might have just changed it to him remembering gradually.
You need to understand that Xiao Zhan still needed protection against bullies and haters, they tried very hard…
You really need to see the difference between a joke and a serous comment. And I'm also kind of tired of every discussion turning into Xiao Zhan pity party. I like him as an actor and I am glad that his career got back on track after everything that had happened last year, he seems like an amazing person that works really hard for what he has. But he's also a grown up man and a very successful one at that, he doesn't need people on the internet, who have no inside knowledge of what's actually going on, fighting on his behalf. How about, maybe, moving on and learning to take a joke.
CCTV posted that it's one ep per day, every day at noon (China time). I think online episodes will go a little later, to allow CCTV to get their ratings.
Sorry, but I just want to rant a little. They prepared this In Absolute Secrecy. There's a press conference (not in full, just some snippets from it, but it happened), CCTV is airing this, there are promo videos with all main actors. But just how exactly did they manage a Secret Press conference???!!
OMG, the first episode is really good. It's early to judge of course, but if they keep up the way they started... fingers crossed. The pace so far is just right, not to fast, not too slow, but still packed with information. I haven't seen the anime or read the novel so for me there's also a mystery element.
Just yesterday I was like: ok, I should stop waiting for this and just relax and watch something else. Maybe I should always do that when I'm waiting for something...
It was a date that douban put as a release date couple of days ago, it got viral and soon after douban deleted the date. There are a lot of bts pictures and videos coming out lately, though the majority are not from official sources (there were like couple posted by the director). I don't really know why everyone suddenly got so impatient about this drama, but there is a possibility that this is Tencent's way of hyping up before the release (not sure why they would need to though). I don't think it will air on the 4th, but I do think it will be in the 1Q of 21.
Everyone is like: "it's airing next week!" Tencent: no news, no promotion. "Are we going to be ready next week? No. Ok, let them wait. Free hype, why not?" Sorry, it's just my imagination :))
Rumours says that douluo dali will air earliest 2 Feb, latest 4 Feb!!! Excited after waiting for soooo long. Really…
Yes, inexplicably, without any official announcement everyone is convinced that it's airing as soon as LOF ends. Hope Tencent doesn't disappoint. DC is trending on weibo, btw.
This is a really weird discussion, because neither of us actually know anything :))) but at the end of the trailer it says "Tencent exclusive broadcast", so I think CCTV is a rumor unless Tencent sold it to them after they released the trailer (which is possible), but there was no official announcement about it. As for Oath of love, I've seen a lot of stuff being said about Hunan being reluctant to air it, but those are also rumors aimed to stir stuff up. XZ's situation just got back on track and TV schedules are probably made in advance, especially if you want the prime time spot. I mean, this is business and OOL is sure to bring audience (which is money). Unless there's someone really childish at the head of the channel, they have to understand what they will loose by not broadcasting it.
