It’s been on my mind for quite some time, but I never gave it serious thought to start… and man, just one episode in and I can already feel I’m stepping into a masterpiece of storytelling. I’m awestruck by everything — from the cinematography, costume design, dialogues, sound, direction, and screenplay, to the performances. My goodness, this ride is going to be epic. I’ve never written so much about a series after just a single episode, but The Prisoner of Beauty made me do it. Okay then, see you after I finish the whole thing.

I mean, what the f was that ending? It completely ruined the series and killed the overall enjoyment of the drama. Total letdown — whoever approved it honestly deserves to be dropped in the middle of the sea for the rest of their life.

What happened to his family? If something happened to them i dont quite relatable on it tehy deserves the brighter side. don’t know waht happene with Yang Jeong Suk — the creators should’ve wrapped things up with a solid, spectacular ending instead of leaving it hanging.

Now, about the series itself — pretty damn good overall. But I really don’t like these kinds of dull, half-baked endings, especially in a feel-good slice-of-life mystery adventure black comedy drama. On the positive side: the cinematography and production are top-notch, the soundtrack is superb, and the performances are nothing short of a masterclass in character portrayal. Direction, screenplay, art, and costumes — all spot on.

Overall: A good watch neither masterpiece nor total dull. Just be prepared for that ending. Let me know if you felt the same or if it worked for you. Rating: 7.5

Yeah, I finally finished it. Before starting, I was damn excited mainly because of the actors—more than the plot. After watching, I’d say it’s good, but that “kick” towards the end didn’t really hit me. It delivered what it wanted to convey, but the last stretch felt a bit dragged out. Honestly, 8 episodes would’ve been perfect. But since it’s a melodrama, you can’t really argue much about the pacing.

Cinematography is fantastic, sound design is top-notch, and production is decent. The screenplay, though, could’ve used a little more nourishment. Direction was solid. As for characterization—Da-eum was brilliantly written and performed by Jeon Yeo-been, and Namkoong Min gave his best too. The starting episodes were absolutely brilliant. I just couldn’t keep the same flow towards the end, maybe that’s why I felt a little restless and just wanted to finish it quickly, especially because of the predictability in the writing.overall it has a heart 7.5

An absurd series at its best. The creators clearly tried to be smart and unique with the concept—like an artsy, thought-provoking series—but it ended up becoming a pathetic joke. While the concept is appreciable, the story is all over the place, lacking any clear vision. Honestly, I’ve never seen such terrible content in my life.

Some of the glimpses I saw actually got me interested too.

Do you think it’s a paid campaign? Or does the novel have some historical or deeper significance that made people this upset just because the movie is different? I know Korean audiences can be sensitive to certain things — is the novel really that important? Also, have you watched it yet?

Saying a movie is bad just because it's different from the novel isn't a valid way to review it.

More than 175 reviews — that’s a lot! Are they all bashing the movie? I can’t really say anything until I watch it myself. But if you forget the novel, is it entertaining or not?
