Good melodrama about family and the support of siblings when they deal with life's curve balls.
Our Days is a melodrama about three sisters who experience difficulty in their careers and marriages and how they come together to support each other through difficult times. The drama starts with Bai Bai He (as an older sister), Li Chun (as a middle sister), and Wang Yu Wen (as the baby sister.) It was refreshing to see Wang Yu Wen plays a domestically abused wife, which is different from her other rom-com characters.I enjoyed the drama very much, especially the acting of the three female leads. Overall, I give it a 7.5 rating.
Synopsis: Xiang Zhi Jun has three daughters living in cities: Shanghai, Kunshan, and Suzhou. His eldest daughter, Xiang Qian, is 35 years old and has made significant progress in her career. The middle daughter, Xiang Zhong, is 31 and is actively striving to build her future. The youngest daughter, Xiang Nan, is 26, with a pure and romantic personality. The marriages of all three daughters face setbacks, leading the sisters to support and encourage each other. With their parents' guidance and advice, Xiang Zhong breaks free from her unreasonable in-laws and regains her confidence in managing her marriage. Xiang Qian sees through the hypocrisy of her husband, Gao Ping, and rediscovers her direction in both her career and life. Xiang Nan also overcomes her confusion and gains a more mature and clear understanding of marriage and herself.
My Reviews:
1. Good acting and script.
2. It is refreshing to see Wang Yu Wen in a mature and weak role.
3. The male characters in this drama are useless men. This is a good 4. lesson for women to choose the right mates; otherwise, their lives will be miserable.
5. I give it a 7.5 rating.
It is nothing special about this drama. It is predictable and watchable if you want to kill time.
Princess Royal is a historical costume drama about a second chance at one's life destiny through time travel. Li Rong and Pei Wen Xuan misunderstood each other, and through the misunderstandings, with the help of others, they plotted to kill each other; after they were dead, they both awake back when Li Rong was 18. During that period, they discovered and communicated with each other to change the course of their lives.Synopsis: Li Rong and Pei Wen Xuan married at 18. Li Rong used Pei Wen Xuan's family background to avoid disaster, and Pei Wen Xuan used Li Rong's identity as Princess to establish himself. They married for political reasons without the slightest bit of affection. Later on, she lost herself amid wine, song, and dance. As for him, he had a home yet did not bother coming home because he already had someone in his heart… Husband and wife for 20 years, yet nothing between them but power. In the end, it was hardly surprising that someone turned them against each other, leading them to die under each other's schemes. However, when they woke up, they had returned to the year when they were 18, returning to the most difficult time in their lives. So Pei Wen Xuan went to look for Li Rong. To be married again but with divorce in mind.
My Reviews:
1. The drama is okay to watch. There were some elements of comedic scenes between Li Rong and Pei Wen Xuan.
2. Zhao Jin Mai and Zhang Lin He did a decent job in this drama, and their onscreen chemistry is better than her onscreen chemistry with Wu Lei in Amidst a Snowstorm of Love.
3. The drama is slow and draggy, and the last five episodes were stupid and long. It would be much better if 10 episodes were cut.
4. The plot is predictable and nothing new; hence, it did need to be 40 episodes long. It shows the emperor and his successor (her brother) are useless. It takes until the end for them to realize that she is more than capable of running and leading the country.
I give it a 7.0 rating because the acting and plot are mediocre. Overall, it is not a bad drama since nothing else special or great has aired in Cdrama this year.
Good twists and suspense crime drama and good acting, especially from Jing Boran.
Regeneration is a good suspense drama, starting with Jing Boran, who plays a manipulative bad guy involved in embezzlement and murder. My Reviews:
- A sweet and short drama with good suspense and twists.
- Good acting from everyone in the cast
- Good script and engaging drama.
- Good twists and the right number of episodes
I give it an 8.5 rating for exceptional acting from the cast.
If you are looking for romance, then don't watch this drama because there was none.
Dream (aka Imagination Season on YouTube via Fresh Drama Chanel)is a melodrama dealing with business and entrepreneurs among 4 college friends with very little romance between the main CP. There was no kissing or hugging at all. The 2nd CP has more romantic scenes than the main CP.Synopsis: The story is about four friends in university who meet after graduation and decide to start a business together. They are prepared to use the mindset of the Internet generation coupled with a whole new business model to serve Beijing drifters who are facing problems with renting a room. Through mutual understanding and cooperation, they finally achieve their dreams after undergoing a series of challenges.
My Reviews:
- It started slowly by introducing the characters and their struggles in building their IT company.
- Yu Pen Yue (played by Jia Nai Liang) is a genius among his four college mates. His arrogantness rubs feathers with his friends, clients, and competitors.
- His kindness, caring, self-reliance, and optimism helped him overcome adversities and win the trust of his friends and his lover, Wan RouYu (played by Bridgette Qiao)
- I didn't like Bridgette Qiao's character in this drama; it was so annoying and frustrating when she allowed fear because her parents' failed marriage prevented her from following her heart.
- Eventually, they get together, but there is no romance between them; the 2nd CP has better romantic scenes than the main CP. Yu PenYue and Wan RouYu did not kiss, which was a disappointment.
- The annoying part was that the audio went silent on YouTube's Fresh Drama channel, making it unpleasant to watch.
I am giving it a 6.5 because the script has nothing special, and the acting is mediocre.
Excellent drama and acting from the entire cast. A good tear-jerker drama, highly recommended.
Angels Fall Sometimes is a melodrama dealing with an incurable disease, ALS, and how family and loved ones handle and deal with the ordeal.Synopsis: In the prime of his youth, Lin Tuo crosses paths with An Zhi Que during a summer internship recruiting event in their junior year. Love blossoms at first sight. With graduation approaching, the two embark on their journey from the ivory tower into the real world, taking on part-time jobs, job hunting, and planning their future together. While life doesn't unfold as smoothly as envisioned, they hold each other up. However, just when everything seems to be going well, Lin Tuo receives a diagnosis that changes their lives forever.
Lin Tuo is diagnosed with ALS, bringing an end to his seemingly ordinary but promising life. Future shortened, Lin Tuo is left in disbelief and unable to face his loved ones, so he hides from them one by one, and as time passes and the disease becomes worse, he is forced to tell them the truth. Faced with this new truth, his loved ones rally around him, not letting him give up as life deals him blow after blow. Finally, understanding this, Lin Tuo finds the strength in that love to move bravely forward.
My Reviews:
- It started slowly as it built up the characters and the progression of the disease that Lin Tuo is initially facing.
- It was a tear-jerker drama if you are in for a good cry, especially from episode 11 onward.
- Landi Li and Lin Yi did a great job in this drama. This is their best acting performance compared to other dramas that I have watched them in. Their on-screen chemistry is also great.
- Sun Tian Yu did an awesome job playing Lin Tuo's buddy.
- The entire ensemble acted great, and I enjoyed it. I highly recommend everyone to watch it.
I am giving it a 9.0 for good originality script and excellent acting from the team.
The plot started out good but went downhill from episodes 11 to 19. It is also predictable.
The Lonely Warrior is a crime drama where a detective is sent to prison for a crime he did not commit when a criminal dies during his investigation. The Synopsis tells the story of an interrogation accident that sent Detective Cheng Bing of the Third Brigade to prison to serve his sentence. His teammates were implicated, dismissed from the police, and demoted. The former elite Third Brigade of the police fell apart. After ten years in prison, Cheng Bing regained his freedom. He lost everything, but Wang Da Yong, the suspect in the case, is still at large...
Wearing a police uniform for a day brings justice for a lifetime. The Third Brigade needed to explain, but unwillingness turned into persistence. The sharp blade was unsheathed again. Cheng Bing and the brothers from the Third Brigade regrouped and embarked on the road to pursue the murderer. During the lonely and long journey, they cooperated with the police to chase the murderer for thousands of miles. In the process, we rediscover the meaning of life.
I am giving it a 7.0 rating for the following reasons:
1. The acting from the entire cast is good.
2. The story was engaging in the first 10 episodes, then went downhill. It is getting draggy and no longer believable when he goes rogue to investigate and go after the real killer himself without his buddies’ help.
3. He developed some new relationships along the way that were not related to the real killer.
4. Added unnecessary fillers.
5. It was frustrating to watch from episode 11-19. I skipped and FF a lot between these episodes with 1.5 and 2.0 speeds.
6. He has a bad relationship with his daughter instead of focusing on mending that relationship. He has another father/daughter relationship with some other girl.
7. It is predictable, and I think it would have been much better if it was part of light-on-series from iQiYi with only 12 episodes.
Awesome Wuxia drama with a disappointed ending. I would rate higher if it has a better ending.
"A Journey to Love" is a Wuxia drama starting Liu Shi Shi (Cecilia Liu), Liu Yu Ning, Alen Fang, Chen You Wei, He Lan Dou, and Wang Yi Zhe.The Synopsis: Female assassin Ren Ru Yi, the former left envoy of the Scarlet Guards, becomes a member of the Wu State's escort delegation to save the King of Wu, who has been taken hostage by the State of An. Together with Ning Yuan Zhou, the leader of the Wu State's Six Realms Hall, the free-spirited Yu Shi San, Princess Yang Ying, clever teen Yuan Lu, and the imperial guard Qian Zhao, they experience love, life, death, and grow together.
I enjoyed the drama, and all cast members' acting is undeniably good, especially Cecilia Liu, the FL. Liu Yu Ning did a decent job as ML as well.
I also like He Lan Dou; she did a better job in this drama than in "Tiger and Crane." The kung fu fighting scenes were good, except for the last 5 episodes, where some of the fighting scenes were unrealistic, like in the WRTW drama.
I was going to give it an 8.5 rating, but I am downgrading it to 8.0 because I didn't like the ending where Ning Yuan Zhou and his comrades were all killed, which was a big disappointment.
The best medical drama that I have seen in 2023. Excellent acting from the entire cast.
The Heart is a melodrama about the lives of doctors at a hospital that specializes in cardiology.I would say that this is the best medical drama I have seen in 2023; actually, the best of all time since I started watching Cdrama 3 years ago.
The plot was excellent, and it focused on the professional and personal lives of doctors at Dongli Hospital, especially the cardiology department. I love Mark Chao; his acting is superb. Mao Xiao Tong played a bubbly sister who adored her brother, but they are half-brothers and sisters. It also showed the complex relationships that Zhou Xiao Feng (played by Mark Chao) has with his superiors, co-workers, girlfriend, sister, and mother who abandoned him when he was young.
The acting of the entire cast, particularly some supporting roles, was excellent. Like Yang Gui Lan, played by Fang Qing Zhuo; Jiang Yi Ning, played by Zhou Yu Tong; Fang Zhu Qing, played by Joan Chen; and Qiang Wei, played by Ma Yin Yin. They were fantastic.
I really enjoyed and loved this drama. I give it an 8.5 and highly recommend everyone to watch it.
Interesting drama with suspenseful aspect. I wish it could be shorter to 30 episodes instead of 38.
The production quality of Unexpected Falling is not bad; at least it doesn't feel like everyone is so white like Tencent dramas always do. It is unnatural. The storyline is not bad as it unfolds, and I am curious about who the real Gao Jun is and his real motive with Ruan Zhen Zhen.
It is also good to see that Ruan Zhen Zhen is getting smarter and trying to figure out things as she goes along and keeps the information to herself. However, sometimes, I find her demeanor and the character that she plays annoying. I hoped she would speak up and be more forceful when fishing for information.
I have watched 29 episodes already, and I wonder what will happen to her bestie, Su Wen. I don't like her in-laws, who are mean and only care about money, and the cousin, You Gang, is a useless man and not a value added to the story.
The drama would have a much better flow if it were shortened to 30 episodes instead of 38. It is getting draggy with many uninterested filler scenes. I wanted to wrap it up soon, but I have to wait for 9 more episodes to see the ending.
There is no romance at all in this drama. I am giving it a 6.5 rating out of 10.
Nothing special about the plot, and Zhai Zi Lu did an exceptional job with his character.
"We Go Fast on Trust" is another Rom-Com about a smart female engineer and a professional grand pix driver.I am watching this drama because it is short, and I like the ML, Zhai Zi Lu. He is a good actor who can act well. I like him a lot, especially in My Calorie Boy. He has acting talents and has great potential. I know little about the FL, Ke Jia Yang, except in Copycat Killer and this drama.
I have mixed feelings about her character, Shen Xi. I like that she is smart and an engineer with no emotion regarding her love for Chen Mo Bai. One could argue that she has done a good job portraying the character, but I am unique, and I was hoping that she shows some emotion when he expresses his love for her.
There is definitely not much romance between them compared to other RomCom dramas. Kudos to Zhai Zi Lu for acting so great during emotional scenes, especially when he found out that he was the cause of his mother's dad. It was a tear-jerker scene.
Some of the supporting cast do not act well, like James Lee, who played Lin Shao Qian, Ma Yin Yin, who played Chen Mo Fei, and Jojo Chen, who played Zhao Ying Ning.
I enjoyed the drama, and Zhai Zi Lu did well leading the ensemble, and kudos for his acting ability. I gave it a 7.5 rating because I didn't like the ending.
Decent drama, the elder and seasoned actors were better than Z. Tao and Sun Yi
New Vanity Fair has good acting from Wu Gang and Liu Bei, but at the same time, the characters that they play are very annoying.Ding Ke Mang is annoying and a weak man who does not speak up, defend himself, and put his wife in her place when needed, especially when he is an excellent stage actor and teacher. It was frustrating to watch him.
Jiang Ye, his wife, is annoying because she is a stubborn, headstrong, and self-fish person who only thinks of herself. She makes trouble for everyone and worries about her face and aging in the entertainment industry. She has no respect for her husband, and especially she is the breadwinner of the family.
Z. Tao is a one-dimension actor, and I have watched many dramas where he showed the same emotion of anger and frustration without shedding tears.
Sun Yi played a supporting role in this drama. Ding Ke Mang got recognition as the story progressed, and his wife still wanted to divorce him in episode 32.
The onscreen chemistry between Z. Tao and Sun Yi was not good. Ding Momo's character is better off with An Lun than Song Yang.
I am giving this drama a 7.0 rating.
Don't waste your time and energy for this drama. Action pack but very repetitive script.
In the Name of the Brother is a Republican Drama set in the 1940s about espionage, where an undercover communist person infiltrated and worked under the Secret Service to deliver Japanese plans to the communist party. My Reviews:
1. The acting could be better, and the story could be more varied and engaging. Instead, it is repetitive.
2. Yang Mi's character is the head of the secret service who works for the Japanese regime, but her team is incompetent yet brutal.
3. It is an action pack. It is an upgrade from the Chinese standard for espionage and the republican-era genre.
4. Qin Hao played the twin brother characters, spies for the communist party. The older brother, Song Zhuo Wu, is more brutal and daring, whereas Song Zhuo Wen is calm and calculated.
5. The story is so repetitive, dragging, and boring that it could be better if it were cut short by 10 episodes.
6. I like the hairstyles and the costumes that Yang Mi's character got to wear in this drama. They are exquisite and nice to look at.
7. Yang Mi did her best acting job in this role for a couple of episodes where she showed some emotion, but she was stern, cold, and tough for the rest.
8. I watched up to 30 episodes, and I wanted to give up. I did not continue with it for 3 weeks. I wanted to see the ending, so I watched the last 10 episodes at 2x speed just to see the ending.
I could skip 31 through 39 and only watch episode 40.
What a disappointing drama. Don't waste your time and energy with it if the Republican era is not your genre. I give it a 5.5 rating.
The plot is decent, but too draggy and repetitive stories to fill and drag out the drama.
Unshakable Faith is a crime drama from the republican period. My Reviews:
The plot is good, but it tends to drag on too much. It would have been better if it had ended in 24-30 episodes instead of 38. The main focus is on the female characters, particularly the policeman and the nurse, rather than the male lead. There is no romance between the female and male leaders in the first 21 episodes. The male lead character seems more interested in the second female lead. There is little progress regarding the water project after 21 episodes. The female information is a smart and intelligent policewoman, while the second female lead is an interesting character. The second female lead was a spy in the end. However, from episode 22 onwards, the drama becomes ridiculous due to too many unnecessary fillers added to drag out the plot, resulting in an unsatisfactory outcome.
I give it a 6.0 rating; the acting is decent but not great.
This crime drama is bad on so many levels, don't waste your time and energy with it.
"Chase the Truth" is a crime drama starting Wang Zi Qi and Su Xiao Tong. The Synopsis: Police detective Chu Yi Han goes undercover to infiltrate a criminal organization, hoping to find his mother. By chance, he encounters Gu Lin Na.
This drama is bad on so many levels I wasted time watching it.
1. Bad production quality. The resolution is so bad with fuzzy blue for desert scenes.
2. How can the main characters, ML/FL, survive a big explosion without major injuries or death? Unreal. The hospital stays for both characters were short, and they were back in action. Stupid and unreal.
3. I like the ML, but he acted better in the Romcom Genre, but not in the action-adventure type.
4. The FL can't act; the same goes for the supporting cast.
5. Sha Xiao Fei (played by Zhao Xun) is really annoying. All he did was yell to make himself appear as a tough guy. He played the same role in "Chasing the Undercurrent."
6. Everyone in the ensemble, including the ML, yells to appear tough. I don't think you need to do that to show the character is tough. It can be done through facial expressions and body language.
7. No romance between the main CP.
I gave it a 3.5 rating; don't waste your time.
A mediocre drama about life struggle with career, love, and family as they try to make it in Beijing
Incomparable Beauty follows 3 couples in their 20s, 30s, and 40s as they struggle with love, family, and career choices.- Xu Yao and Yu Jia En (played by Chen Xiao and Gulnezer Bextiyar) broke up after a business failure and rekindled their love in their 30s as they reunited and worked to make it in the business world.
- Li Nian Huan and Zhao Ang (played by Chen Xiao Yun and Chen Xi Jun) are in their 20s, and their parents spoil both and try to figure out how to get their careers going doing what they love instead of the mundane jobs to meet end needs.
- Zhang Qing and Hao Chen Shi (played by Ada Liu and Zhao Da) are in their 40s and still single. Zhang Qing is a strong and successful single career woman who does not want to settle down to marry and have kids. She came to the realization that her loyalty to work backfired after she was mistreated by her boss whom she had worked for over 10 years after he found out that she was pregnant. It makes her realize that there is more to life than work.
The story is mediocre, as is the acting of these 6 main lead characters. They are good to look at, but their acting ability is nothing to rave about, especially Gulnezer. She can't act, even in the dramatic scene; she has no sorrowful expression. The ending is also stupid.
