Gil Chae is badly cast as the FL. I see zero visible reason which would make him want to protect her. Feisty is…
I honestly don`t even know where to start if the only trait you spotted of hers throughout this drama is feistiness. The beauty of Jang Hyun and Gil Chae as characters is how developed they are,in turn making their relationship so much more engaging.
And she`s not gone, people are predicting both of the actors might be nominated for an award because of their performance.
Gilchae as a character is strong and comes with some rough edges but still I don't feel the need for them to go…
To be honest,I just love them together. Their banter, how they`re similar yet dissimilar at the same time. It leads me to believe that, had they just learnt to communicate better, they`d be like the old couple at the start. But life, especially when it`s tough, makes you mature. Therefore I`m hoping for a sweet reunion. However,I could understand people not wanting them together, but bashing Gil Chae in the way they`ve been doing is just wrong.
Criticism is okay, but some have definitely misunderstood parts of her character.

I sympathize with both of them, their circumstances and timing are horrible but I like to think they`ll end up together once more. The reason why I personally understand Gil Chae a bit more however(I`m also fine with the ending, they need to grow a bit more, even see other people, but end up together again) is because it`s 1600s Joseon and she has a family to take care of consisting of a mad father, two babies, three women etc. The luxury Jang Hyun has is being able to be a double spy, live like there`s no tomorrow, propose they run away together without looking back. Now,I`m not saying Gil Chae isn`t wrong for realizing her feelings far too late and not being able to read people all that well. There`s also the fact that between him leaving and coming back YEARS have passed(considering the age of the maid`s child). Him expecting Gil Chae to just wait for him in a struggling village, even after he got better,is not viable.
But the reality is,given that the wedding chest is already received, had she ran away, her father would be regarded as having a loose daughter, her sister would never be able to marry admirably, they`d have to live in hiding etc. That is simply not a solution like it is for JH. That`s why they BOTH need to spend some time apart and then meet again. In better circumstances, with less things separating them.
Everyone knows Gil Chae is the female lead. She`s amazingly detailed and imperfect, much like Jang Hyun. Their chemistry is also immaculate. People complaining about Gil Chae being irritating and spoiled have missed the point of her character. That`s it. Can`t wait to see our moonlight couple again💕
Extremely underrated drama. I saw people's comments that unlikable FL is this drama's major turn-off. I can guarantee…
The moment people describe a drama as having an unlikeable FL,I immediately add that drama to my PTW list. Some of my favorite dramas had that description
I revisit this page once in a while, hoping the score will drop because of so many underwhelming reviews. I honestly can`t believe anyone who likes AOS universe liked this season.
Somehow Hong Sisters wrote their best and worst in one drama series. Naksu/Cho Yeong`s arc is basically character assassination and I love GYJ,but they JUST NEUTERED the poor girl and her abilities. Chemistry was so surface level and this season was both nonsensical AND full of filler. For 10 episodes that`s wild.
It`s just one of those `you should have left it with a tragic ending if you were gona butcher it like this` type of situation.
Thank you for saying that about Park Gyu Young. I was one of the first ones to advocate for her getting a lead role, but as more time passed,I realized she really excels as a side character. That`s not a bad thing at all. But,her range is quite limited and I never get the feeling she tries. Her first few drama roles felt much more...well,well acted. Great review!
But S1 mostly revolves on just the romance. How did you finish it? Because I dropped it but picked it back up…
Out of the strength of my will alone. But it`s saying a lot that I completely forgot Ji Ah existed when I started S2. She`s such a bland character,it`s as if even directors are aware how uncompelling they made her,so she`s basically nowhere now(and for the better).
Seo Ye Ji dodged a bullet because Island was so mid. That being said,I need more dramas with Seo Ye Ji,she`s one of the best young actresses working right now
When part 2 was over, it even had a higher score, prompting me to write a comment back then, only to be slapped…
I was just thinking about it because I had a discussion with a fervent fan of this sequel. They loved it more than the first part. When I presented my grievances, their response was:But they ended up together, right?A happy end. What more can you expect and I answered:A decent sequel. I agree with what you wrote. It`s like they decided to cast a WIDE net characters wise, and they ended up with nothing in the end. Don`t worry,I was too,the comments can be somewhat of a cesspool.
