if this had come out a year ago i would have been so impressed but honestly after where your eyes linger was released i think the bar for korean bls has been raised too much in my eyes. it's weird because it was so short it should have felt rushed but although things happened...it felt like nothing happened?? idk if that makes sense but somehow every episode i was left wondering what actually happened in the episode like how did the story progress. idk i was really disappointed. i think by far the biggest issue is that they didn't even properly get introduced until like episode 4 which in a show this short is just way way way too late in the storyline. like at the beginning of episode 5 they were deciding which honorifics to use and then at the end of episode 6 they kissed. and although we saw sang yi had a crush, i don't think we really saw in soo like him back and even sang yi's feelings were kinda new because they didn't know each other well. to compare is to the most similar korean bls, where your eyes linger and mr heart, i think where your eyes linger worked the best because they already knew each other, so they didn't have to convince the viewers that they had love at first sight or anything, and the overall plot and the development of their feelings were tied together so both were able to develop together. mr heart was a little more rushed but they got acquainted in the first episode so it was still believable that they could develop feelings in the time frame. but in wish you i felt like they barely got to know each other, and there was barely a plot overall so it just felt very empty.

i didn't even consider that but damn i hope not

this is like borderline horror given the context and it's played out like it's a fluffy rom-com. weirdest show ever

i think it's just rated 18+ because it's rated r on viki, but all korean bl's on viki are rated r regardless of the fact none of them are anywhere close to explicit. idk why it might be a default or something. i wouldn't read too much into it

does anyone know why the characters use the names of the actors?? i've never seen that before and it seems really weird to me

idk how to make edits but shi-on is not a belly dancer, the description on instagram says 현대무용 which is modern dance. really not sure where whoever wrote this got belly dancer lol

same. i don't think he needs to be a totally different character or anything, just that the character feels a bit limited. hopefully that will expand over time as the fl gets to know him and he can show more of himself.

like if they gave him an opportunity to really geek out over comic books or something like that i think it would be a chance to show some more variety in his character

i feel like it's possible cha eunwoo is actually a good actor (or at least not a bad one) but the directions he was given/the way his character was written for the drama was just kind of lacking. also i think it's worse because seojun is very emotive - goofy, intimidating, flirty, etc. as opposed to the one-noteness of suho (pretty much just sad or bothered all the time). so by comparison suho just seems kind of boring. idk i don't think eunwoo could have really done much differently because his character is so stoic, he doesn't get a chance to really be funny or flirtatious or anything. it's kinda just a bad role

anyone really confused about how jongho is going to play hyuk?? i mean for one hyuk has long hair so are they just getting rid of that or is he wearing a wig lol. but second of all hyuk's character is so small and weak and jongho is literally known for being the strongest member of ateez. he's literally known for breaking apples in half. idk i just can't imagine how it'll work

for those wondering the difference between the series and the movie, basically they're the same, but the movie removes the voiceover from the characters thoughts and replaces it with music. this sounds weird but it makes a huge difference. i watched it as a series and a few months later i got a viki subscription and watched it as a movie and i was surprised by how much more i enjoyed it. i also think the subtitles of the movie version are better, but the overall tone is really changed by having it as one continuous story (i never realized how much the cuts between episodes takes you out of the story), and you're left to infer characters emotions rather than just be told them through the voiceover. the movie version is surprisingly more emotional, the angst of it all really got to me more. i think it's easier to recognize how they both feel and how difficult/painful the situation is for them. i would definitely recommend that if you have a viki subscription you watch the movie version, and hopefully the movie version will be available elsewhere soon.
