someone on Pinterest said that it's confirmed that that jaeho and hyeonsu have feelings for e/o i dont think it's…
It's sort of true, but it's definitely meant to be subtle and it seems to be one-sided love. The director said he wanted to create a film noir with the emotional line of a "melodrama" and he said personally he sees Jaeho's feelings for Hyunsoo as some form of love. The director either told Kyunggu to play Jaeho as if he's in love with Hyunsoo, or to act as if he (the actor) is in love with Siwan, it's not totally clear to me which he told him based on the original sources I can find online. However the director didn't tell Siwan any of this at all. I think he did this in order to get a certain performance out of each of them, but that is my own assumption. When Kyunggu revealed after the movie was released that during filming he was thinking about being in love with Siwan (he specifically contrasts this against "bromance" making it clear that is not what he had in mind), Siwan was surprised and said (my approx. translation): "I didn't know I was loved. Rather than love, I just remember us having good chemistry."
My personal conclusion is that the director was very intentional in the creation of the film and he definitely intended for there to be undertones, however how he intended for those undertones to be interpreted (as romantic love, as a type of mentor/protégée relationship, as obsession and distrust, as some combination of all of these, etc.) is left more open. Anyway, I just finished this movie and I loved it and was wondering the same as you about how much of it was confirmed or intentional, so I hope this was helpful, it also gave me a chance to answer my own questions!
The Only Fans thing is so gross...BL already has a poor reputation (often unfairly) and they are making it worse. They're going to damage the reputation of the actors as well. Most BL fans are looking for quality writing, plot, acting, filmography, etc. and associating BL with a website centered around porn just makes those in the BL industry and viewers look highly questionable for being fans of the content, when really it's not like that at all. I feel sure that there are other solutions to their issues, this is seriously not a good one.
i trust queen hwang da seul with my life so i have high expectations for this one!! hopefully it will be on par with her other masterpieces (wyel and to my star)
Now that i’ve seen the trailer i believe season 1 will finish around the time of their first abduction. Maybe…
i don't think they would end it that early in the plot though. i think they are just not including scenes from later on in the show, which is pretty common for trailers
I'm not a big fan of dub con, etc. but if you're going into a mafia based drama you'd think folks would expect…
It is waaaaay passed dubious/gray morality. It's just about the most fucked up a plot could possibly be. Of course people are going to be put off by that. When people think of the mafia they think of money, crime, murder, etc., not the level of disturbing that the story of Vegas and Pete was. Vegas's actions aren't really mafia-related so I don't think people would really expect it at all if they heard it was a mafia themed series.
reminder!! on viki you can use the code "vikifree" to get one free month. please do this rather than watching through illegal sources. if we want more bls on viki we have to show that viewers are watching these shows!
be careful on social media rn!! a scene from episode 6 got leaked (idk how) and is being posted. avoid at all costs if you don't want spoilers (which you probably don't because it's an important scene). better to wait a few hours and see it in context

How is that transphobic? This has nothing to do with transgender people. Transgender people aren't body swapping. That's a supernatural concept. Transgender people are still themselves (personality and body) after transitioning, just with different features (changed through medicine). It's not like they literally have an entirely different body (or someone else's body) after transitioning. Transgender people don't have the personality/body dichotomy that exists in the body swap trope. In real life you can't have a personality or body without having the other, with the body swap trope those things are separated so it's possible to have one without the other.
I don't think it's the same as bisexuality. Body swaps don't exist IRL so there's nothing to compare it to but it's not like in real life you can be attracted to the "soul" of a guy and the body of a girl and that makes you bisexual. Like bisexuality is being attracted to both men and women (personality and body), not men in women's bodies or women in men's bodies. Because it's a fantasy concept I don't think actual sexual orientations apply very well.
Prime example of "gay romance" made by someone who isn't gay, for people who aren't gay.Dude is in a girl's body,…
I agree. The "soul" (personality) and the body are not separate, they are both part of what makes someone who they are, and trying to base attraction on just one of them for the plot is really questionable. The only thing I disagree with is I don't know that it would be a bisexual love story otherwise. Obviously body swaps don't exist IRL so there's nothing to compare it to but it's not like in real life you can be attracted to the "soul" of a guy and the body of a girl and that makes you bisexual.
I completely understand where you are coming from. But I don't really have that much of an issue with the story…
bodies are part of attraction tho. people aren't just attracted to personalities, the sex of the person their attracted to matters. that's why sexual orientation exists, otherwise everyone would be bisexual
it's really weird to me that everyone is talking about disliking "noona romances" as if they're their own genre. just because the woman is older doesn't mean the plot is always going to be the same lol
this is kind of rude tbh. i know you're exaggerating but have a little perspective. she's in her 30s, that's still very young. hwang in yeop is playing a younger character but he's in his 30s too
My personal conclusion is that the director was very intentional in the creation of the film and he definitely intended for there to be undertones, however how he intended for those undertones to be interpreted (as romantic love, as a type of mentor/protégée relationship, as obsession and distrust, as some combination of all of these, etc.) is left more open.
