I don't know how to say everything I have in my mind, heart, and soul but I will try my best.
So, first of all, I was STRUGGLING with starting this (I blame Your Name Engraved Herein trauma and my own personal... stuff with religion) BUT I have been f blessed. I binged this faster than anything ever and I haven't been this invested in something in _years_. I was literally walking to work while watching this.
The first thought that took shape in my head was that HOW F WELL Fourth and Gemini were doing with the micro-expressions and emotions and just literally everything. They f nailed this. (also, the tension deserves its separate honorable mention because WTF was that?!!?)
Then, the cinematography. So good. My eyes. Blessed. The story. Yes. The side characters. So interesting, I loved all their stories, none of them were flat or lacking. Extra mention for the long, slow, and "boring" conversations between Barth and Tanrak (and just generally between anyone). They brought so much depth and emotions to the story and characters, I could literally feel how they were falling in love.
I was a little skeptical of the hype this was getting but oh my God, I so agree. This is literally a masterpiece and, oh so, perfect. 10/10, I haven't ever watched anything like this and probably never will.
Lastly, I want to praise everyone involved with the making of this and thank them for bringing this to life. Especially Fourth and Gemini because they did so very well with this, my mind is completely blown.
I hope they'll get something better to work with next time. Maybe action?? I'd really want to see Noeul as a very cool and kind of laid-back(?) and cold character. Boss did very good job here but the atmosphere in the whole drama was just all wrong. It was a little painful really but I didn't struggle that much with this (surprisingly). I'd still give it 7/10.
I don't know how good this was objectively but I personally enjoyed it a lot. I haven't watched the first season (tried but I had zero interest in Hill and Easter's story and even though I really wanted to see JohanNorth's story after they appeared in the 2nd season but the stories were more blended in the 1st season so I just gave up :')). Also, talking about JohanNorth, I think they actually ended up as one of my fav couples even though I've only seen glimpses of them. Something in their relationship just hit home (and hard).
ANYWAYS, the second season was good, I found myself waiting for the new episodes every week and all the couples were quite evenly balanced in my interests. Absolutely one of my fav Wabi Sabi dramas
I'm on the 3rd episode and the hand-holding is KILLING ME I don't know what I'm feeling but it's kinda like the emotion that only the best hurt/comfort AO3 ffs have made me feel
As a danmei-reader I can say the direction is absolutely correct It was a nice watch and I don't have a lot to complain about. It was too short, in my opinion, (yes, I know China is being difficult so I can't really complain about this) and I also would've liked some more depth (which length would've brought, but again - China) We got some of the danmei-typical yearning and I was really living for that I also liked the fact this wasn't overly toxic and their relationship felt more of a genuine fondness and love than the unhealthy kind of obsession Chinese BLs usually have, so (a lot of) points for that from me 8,5/10 Absolutely need more historical Chinese BLs 🙏
I have a lot in my mind about this but let's see how I can put it all into words. I don't really want to compare this and the first season since they're very different, so I won't. I don't even know which one I liked better. In the beginning I was really liking this and I liked Dean the best. I was very excited for the new episodes each week and I liked every couple pretty evenly (but still JackDean the most). But around the 8th episode I really got stuck and dropped it for a long time before picking it back up only today. Which I only did because of all the RomeRaffy videos I kept seeing on Instagram. I skipped a lot of scenes in ep 8 and 9 before I kinda got the flow back. I ended up loving every scene after the time jump and really wouldn't had minded one more episode of that. Every character was at least somehow problematic at some point but in the end I was maybe the most bothered with Jack and I really think he needed a good amount of therapy or at least some self-learning and self-solving. I was the most impressed by Mix's performance, he did such a good job here. I have to also add that Mix is so f pretty I could stare at his face for hours and when he smiles it is like my whole world is being lighted. All the pairings here were in my top favs but the concept of the drama was not really for me.
I don't even know what to say This whole drama was such a rollercoaster, I'm not okay omllll It was not perfect but I ended up loving it more than I expected (especially since basically suffering through the first two episodes) But it kept getting better and better, and at the end, I didn't want it to end and now my cheeks are hurting from smiling so much omg Good work everyone, thank you for bringing us this

Yearning for the days we get a full-length action/mystery KBL. (and I mean like 16 hours)
