I can never like male leads for the simple fact that they are the male leads and it's the same thing with female leads, the writer has to be able to make them likeable and interesting but sometimes they seem to decide to pour their writing talent into the second leads instead or make the leads straight up unlikeable, I don't like having SLS srsly who does lol but if they are just better in every possible way I can't help but root for them even if I try not to.

Also there is such a thing as not always taking what the characters say as truth they made it a point in putting flower smybolism into that scene with the reversed cherry blossoms which mean lie, to me she looked concerned for a moment when he was cutting his hand on the sword and why would she ask him why he married her. Hwal called Sol a monster too but it's pretty clear that he didn't really think of her as one idk why she is the one who is "not nice" he distanced himself from her and their son and she was neglected by her father too, despite them both clearly having loved her (idk why this is still a debate tbh). I think one thing that's sure is that her maternal love towards her children was stronger than anything else.

Yes her whole vibe as Dan Sol was so different from when she plays Siho, it's one of my favorite performances on the show, I'd really like to see her in another historical drama with a similar role to Sol.

She stopped Hwal twice and told him to wait, like girl what about we need to hurry up did you not get? And I'm supposed to believe she cares so much about her sister lol.

The scene that irritated me the most was her lack of urgency to save her sister, she seriously seemed more upset to leave a dead body behind than her sister being in the same danger.

I literally did not say her role isn't important idk maybe the optician you know isn't that good after all.

You hit the nail on the head, it's her presence alone that's integral to the story but as a characters herself what does she really do? It's mostly the secondary characters that move the story forward she herself doesn't really contribute much. Like at least in the early episode she was looking for an active way to kill the bulgasal now she mostly just feels like an accessory to Hwal. I'm not saying she is not important I'm saying she is badly written and a lot of her actions and behaviour make no sense. Though honestly she isn't the only one, it's just more severe in her case.

Episode 14 was pretty good but god why is the female lead the worst character out of everyone, every episode she does or says something stupid that makes my eyes roll so hard. The show is so much better when it focuses more on the relationships between Hwal and the secondary characters.

God I hope people won't go around comparing it to Squid Game, this genre of death games/playing for prize money has existed for a long time.

None of the main characters were really likeable except the one guy they decided to kill off in the end, so many characters that were introduced whose story went nowhere, too many unnecessary deaths for no reason, too many infuriating characters that made it hard to enjoy the show, it goes on and on...

They were too busy building a toilet to think about food.

What a huge disappointment and I was looking forward to it so much...

Honestly idk if I would even want a second season, the show in itself was so perfect with how everything was connected and each character being involved and relevant and the ending was great, I have absolute trust in the writer but can't even imagine what a second season would look like and if it would hold the same emotional weight.

Just finished the first two episodes and I'm hooked, that interrogation scene in ep 2 was just magnificent, I'm already in love.

They are as stale as it gets. If they don't even bother to write a proper romance and only are able to create romantic tension on the basis of the female lead being too stupid to do things then I won't bother to give a shit about it.

How is that the main point when that's what they show us the least about????

Both ships are kind of terrible honestly, one had potential but wasn't pursued the other is just not convincing no matter how much they try forcing it down my throat, both could've been good in theory but both lack in execution so really nothing to ship here.
I just want Siho and Doyoon to be happy in this lifetime idc about the rest tbh.

They just should've dropped the romance because the are clearly bad at writing one.

I wouldn't have minded it either if the show wasn't awfully slow paced to begin with but honestly 50 minutes is too much for a fantasy show like this which I thought was supposed to be dark, it barely resembles the first episodes in tone.
