Are you sure about your first statement? Because Move to Heaven, Navillera, Lost and countless other melodramas…
Lastly, it’s perfectly fine that you like this show personally. You can state the 100 things that worked for you but the general consensus by means of the score is as valid as your opinion and people don’t need to be judged for that.
Are you sure about your first statement? Because Move to Heaven, Navillera, Lost and countless other melodramas…
You’re here though and if it’s not yet obvious the negative comments are flooding this page and the score dived (and will probably dive further) then I don’t think I missed the point of that statement. Even if you count MDL out, majority of English sites have similar positive feedback of the shows I mentioned. And to be honest, being boring and unrealistic are the least of the problems of this drama.
Do not be misled by the low ratings it received in English websites because it is a common trend for shows which…
Are you sure about your first statement? Because Move to Heaven, Navillera, Lost and countless other melodramas with more compelling stories about life and loss are highly rated here and received positive feedback if at least for the acting. What do you think is the difference of this drama that those dramas that are way bleaker than this are better rated?
Right. Plus the last time I checked, actors and everyone involved are responsible for conveying the story effectively. As a viewer, do we have to bend over backwards to find the deepest motivations of the character? I have watched way more complex stories than this and I did not have to check the chars age, sex, and educational background to understand them.
Dropped Vincenzo forgot after how many episodes. It’s too patronizing of the lead actor while the rest of the cast including the FL were treated like clowns.
The last thing I need is someone telling me how to watch a drama like oh she looks wooden maybe that’s what the character and her background requires i didn’t know LOL, to look like an antique furniture at my grandma’s house lmao. The actors here suck at their job…period. We can list countless similar roles done by better actors and they weren’t wooden girl.
I was hopeful that Jang Kiyong is now playing a multi-dimensional character for once but from what I’ve seen, YJG is just another perfect ML paper cutout. They even failed at their goal of ‘perfection’ because they made him act like a creep. They never even showed how he got to be a successful photographer (but let’s see if in they will in the next episodes). He is rich, successful, handsome and all that. I thought it would at least be a balanced love story if nothing else. Don’t get me started on the destiny thing, which made the whole mature and modern vibe ridiculous. So far, among other things, writing has been such a wreck.
Well said. They say good fiction creates empathy. A good drama such as this one takes you somewhere and asks you…
Also it’s the kind of drama that I wouldn’t recommend easily nor try to push to those who don’t like it. It’s not saying that it’s for a particular taste but more of frame of mind.
When viewers say they cannot relate to the characters I think that’s exactly how normal people fail to understand those who are struggling to fit in or keep up. Most people are like Bu-jeong’s husband. It’s not a sin that they could not relate to them, but that’s the reason that people like the MC feel invisible. It’s easier to relate to the characters if their struggles are material, like need for money or freedom from abusive spouses, but how do you live with someone who genuinely cannot find meaning in life? It’s like describing sunset to a blind person as they say.
I don’t know how to describe it, maybe I am in a certain mood or stage in life but this drama delivers. I was not wrong expecting that it will be my palate cleanser. However, I don’t recommend watching it for more than 2 episodes at a time.
A genre where you can see elements of a modern drama (the fantasy and the romance in this case are the typical flair), in a period setting for not much reason except for aesthetics probably.
I was really looking forward to this, but after watching all 6 episodes, I realized I’m pretty done with romance fusion sageuk, or maybe it’s the writing. I will continue to watch though for the love of Kim Yoo- jung.
I asked earlier, I want to ask again, is it really based or inspired from Japanese book 人間失格 by Osamu…
I've read the book too but apart from the original title, the recent articles and interviews never referred to it being an adaptation of the book. Probably inspired by it but they seem to have purposely avoided referring to Dazai's work.
I’ve been waiting for this, Yumi’s Cells, and Jirisan. I love the book and I heard it was inspired by that, but I’m not setting any expectations based on it. I’ve been so bored with all the repetitive dramas this year. Except for my roommate is a gumiho, I’ve finished nothing. A huge contrast to this but Hyeri.
Yep. It's ok to show that we all make bad decisions, but it wasn't showed clearly how toxic their relationship…
They can’t tell me that there was some intelligent idea behind the glossing of PJE’s character. Nabi’s deliberate dive to self-destruction is one thing but making PJE look like a love-struck man is not incidental. What’s with the butterfly-freeing drama?
Some people in here have me really confused not gonna lie."this was like some of my previous relationships, i…
But I can’t ignore the way they made some questionable directions on PJE’s character like him seeing her during the exhibit but then later at the bar, pretending as if he had never seen her before…what was all that attempt at glossing over his image for?
