anyone else rewatching the series by watching youtubers reacting to the series. I have multiple timelines going on because each youtuber is on different episodes.
The scriptwriter has mentioned that she does not like to add any unnecessary love interests if they are not in…
again, faithful doesnt mean good tv. and no one is arguing the original novel should not be appreciated, or the original characters were created from hard working writers. percentage of faithfulness, again, doesn't mean it's good tv. It's always an adaptation, meaning it's not directy transcribed into a TV script. Again, no need to bring any other dramas/donghuas into this conversation, because each work stands on it's own in it's right: that being things were done well in adaptation and things were done poorly as well. There's no need to compare, just talk about the drama on this drama's PAGE, because we all know there are crazy fandoms out there looking for fights to be had. just sayin'

I would argue that being authentic doesnt necessarily mean transcribing the novel into a TV script, because dramas are visual art form. To me adapting literary works, it more about getting the core of the story right. I would say WOH is a much better script than the Untamed, because it's a simpler story and a simpler timeline. Untamed suffers a lot from pacing issues, that was solved by releasing the second cut, because it let go some elements not essential to the story. Also, you have to take into account of the size of the fandom built into these two stories. WOH is an early Priest novel written when she was still in college; no one cites this story as her opus, and there's not a lot built in fans, so the script writter had more freedom adapting the script into good television. MDZS fandom is so large, they had no choice but to be as faithful to the original text as possible, being afraid of backlash ( im sure you know about the internet backlash due to certain female characters adding to the plot and later deleted due to the backlash). That's why I don't think these two stories should be even compared. Two different stories, two different circumstances when it was being produced.
after rewatching for the umpteenth time, I noticed something: everytime WKX flirts withe ZZS, it moves on to PLOT immediately afterwards. Like the writer is like: censorship, ignore the flirting? what flirting? here is PLOT, move on from the flirting, focus on the PLOT.
One of the roof scenes where they were fighting or sitting, I don't remember which. And one of the lines about…
that's every wuxia drama, there's a roof top scene, and TU isn't the first one to do that, so... and lines about helping the weak and having a clear conscious it's a chinese idiom that's spoken a lot everywhere.
