I haven't read the novel. My mom has. She said it's really close to the novel. From comments on youtube, it seems that this is pretty close to the novel.

Summary of the eight cases in Mandarin . Besides some minor plot holes mentioned, the video said the whole show is well written and well made.

Unfortunately, I'm not that well versed to be able to translate and I understand only 90% of what being said.

I don't watch Korean dramas. I think the only one I watched was Giant as the story was pretty gripping.

I have watched both Ancient Detective (2020) and Under The Skin (2022). Both are great series. I was actually surprised about Under the Skin, didn't know paint artist could contribute so much to solve crime, LOL.

Ancient Detective gave me Agatha Christie's vibe with one by one getting murdered. Also looking forward to Season 2.

Have you watched "The Imperial Coroner". it's quite interesting how they used animation to show the autopsy process and result.

Other good detective series that come into mind is "Medical Examiner Dr Qin" and "My Roommate is a Detective". "Tiensin Mystic" is interesting as well.

I just realized that most of my favorite C-dramas are detective shows. LOL. There are of course other non detective shows I like such as "Joy of Life" but I really don't watch that many C-dramas. Have watched more that I used to since a couple of years ago due to pandemic.

Yes, it's very binge worthy. I think I finished the whole 36 episodes in one week or less. It's been a while to see bingeworthy C-dramas. Usually I watch a bit then just wonder off to watch something else.
