I also a fan of the LOTR Trilogy. Yes, I heard that the Rings of Power is not good so I didn't even bother to start. Same with "House of the Dragon" although some people who are fans of "Game of Thrones" like them.
Not a lot of good new shows nowadays.

For the Western shows, I only have heard of House of the Dragon and Andor. Haven't heard of all the other shows. That's the thing with too many streaming services. Can't keep up.

I haven't read the novel. My mom has. She said it's really close to the novel. From comments on youtube, it seems that this is pretty close to the novel.

Summary of the eight cases in Mandarin . Besides some minor plot holes mentioned, the video said the whole show is well written and well made.
