I'm not the best to recommend C-dramas to watch because I don't watch that many C-dramas.
From the recommendation below, it seems "Please Feel At Ease Mr.Ling " is light enough. How about "You're my Glory". I haven't watched either of them.

In the top 100 of C-dramas I think "Get Ahead" is pretty light and it's more family oriented. My mom watched this one so I sort of got the gist of the show.

I think not outright BL but sort of so they removed it in the drama. Yes, FJM already has a lot of haters so it's good that they didn't write him darker. I agree that he really shouldn't decide things for her. Loving someone means also need to listen to his/her opinion.
In an interview, William said that FJM couldn't express emotion and his character often got misunderstood so he was pretty depressed and needed to exercise daily after filming.

Yes, they changed a lot from the novel. I think they blurred the line with BL in the novel because Jianming came between the Emperor and Haishi. I think the Emperor forced himself on Haishi in the novel, instead of Tilan in the drama but I might be wrong about this part. Tilan existed and she worked with the brother and General Tang. When the Emperor died, the moved back to their own country. Although the emperor had become dark and cruel and Jianming enabled him. It's much darker in the novel. Jianming also poisoned Zheliu for real in the novel. They're all much nicer in the drama.

I also don't really like unhappy endings. Yes, let's hope so :)

Yes, it's open ended so can be anything. I guess she visits him but whether they still continue with their marriage it's up to us to guess.

I haven't read it. But from what I read from the thread here. Jianming and Haishi had more of a student and teacher relationship, so not romantic. She was pregnant with the Emperor's child. Both Jianming and the Emperor died so she became the Empress Dowager like in the drama and took care of the child. It seemed she only loved Jianming and whether Jianming loved her romantically, it was up to the reader's interpretation.

Yes, it's pretty sad. At least ZY and ZL got their happy ending although their scenes were cut short.

Ah yes, reading too much spoiler will do that :) Even this show doesn't focus much on romance but it's more than Sword Snow Stride :)

I've watched up to episode 6 of Sword Snow Stride, so far no romance :) From the comments, even in the 18 there is still no romance so it doesn't focus heavily on that.

I like the drama not a very big fan :) I didn't even rate the drama or write a review. I just asked at which episode that you stopped. It's OK to stop or drop the drama. If you already watch up to certain part, you sort of get the whole story.

At which episode did you drop? I think you get the gist the story anyway if you have watched up to 40 something.

I have never seem the actress in anything because I don't watch that many c-dramas. I did find her character annoying and I'm only up to 3 yet. But I like ZRY so I'll continue when I have the time and see if I can stand her. Usually I'll just go away and do some other stuffs when someone annoying or boring appear.

It's an open ending for the main couple. Initially I think it was sad but neither of them was dead so some said it could be happy ending. For the second couple sad, for the third couple happy ending. If you want me to be specify clearer, I will. I make it vague here

Yes. I think his acting has improved from earlier shows. There's still room for improvement but he's much better than before. I think for each newer show, his acting improves.

Yes, I actually know William from Mystic Nine and has been following his dramas after that.
