Have you watched "The Ancient Detective"? It has around 5 cases to solve which the ML actually solved and 1 big overall arch. I'll add "The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty" to my to watch list.

Whether it's worth watching depends on what you like. In my opinion, at the beginning, it was very exciting. But it fell flat in the middle. It picked up the pace near the end although the ending was quite anticlimactic.

I agree that the ending fell flat. Somehow ML and FL don't involve in the final action. At least Jun Jie gave some suggestion for Yin Hao but he spent the final few episodes chilling in the hospital. The title of the show should be The Captive or the Patient as he spent his time either got captured or in hospitals.

It indeed feels weird that Jun Jie didn't get to talk to his dad. From a comment above here, it's possible the actors don't get the chance to actually interact.

Also what's with the missing supporting actors? What happened to Amanda? It's also a cop-out to get a new character as Alpha (although they actually gave Alpha away in the opening credit, I actually thought that guy must be Alpha but why he only appeared in the last episode).

Yup, why did they include Yun Hao in that scene? I also wonder why SFL objected to the wedding. She was OK and friends with both FL and ML. I guess Datura escaped?! FL seem aware that she escaped as she looked up.

The series did end up positive and unique I guess with Yun Hao grumbling through the end credit scene. Actually did ML and FL hear what he grumbled about as they kept laughing? Either they heard but ignored him or they were completely oblivious.

PS: I know it's not relevant anymore in the grand scheme of things but who started to shoot during the exchange between VX3 and comatose Yun Hao? Was it Jun Jue or Calais? I couldn't figure out by the eyes. LOL.

I do like the series or the concept of the show but the execution could be much better. It could end up more excitingly. Also need to reduce the airtime for the villains. Jun Jie barely appeared in those middle episodes except for getting tortured. I guess it's the problem with the script and also the director. Although the director did really well with "Age of Legends" so perhaps there was some intervention from above.

I'm not sure when Novoland Pearl Eclipse will air. Perhaps see you there unless we meet elsewhere before that. I don't usually comment much because of being a newbie and also don't watch that much Asian dramas.

No worries. From what I understand, China doesn't allow to show supernatural scenes from Republican era onward, hence they cut them down. I could be wrong about the reason.

There are actually plenty of action/thriller scenes. But it seems the director also wanted to please fans who like romance so he inserted some romance in some flashbacks in the middle of scenes that are supposed to be tense. I also watch it for William. LOL. He has a lot of scenes at the beginning (up to 12) and at the end (30 onward) but in the middle, we barely see him.

Forgot to add. Yes, I hope the last 3 episodes will be released together as well. It's a torture to have one episode left for the next day :)

That's true. The first season of the show was so promising. I read that the first season was written by the person who also wrote Lost but later seasons were not. That's why there is a big discrepancy.

Yes, there are many series that are much worse than this. I think some including me at the beginning had too high expectation because it's the same director with "Age of Legends". It's better be happy ending. That's right.

I've just watched 39 and 40 before reading your message in case you want to ask something. Amazingly, Dramacool has subbed until 40 so I actually watched them subbed now. The subs are good for 39 and 40 . I agree it's a bit over the top but it's on par with the show. I wonder who actually started to shoot first when they wanted to exchange VX3 with YunHao. It should be Calais but it could be JunJie as they also showed the eye and the gun and I couldn't recognize. LOL. Ma Qiming loved VX3 more than his own son.

Haha. It was "Once Upon a Time", except for season 1 and 2, the rest of the writing got more awful each season and that show were full of shippers who attacked anyone not agreeing with their ship. I'm glad the show is over.

Oh yes, knowing it's going to be happy ending is a plus. I still got trauma from Princess Agent (which was the reason I checked Mystic Nine because of Zhao Liying, I didn't know the rest of the cast except jer that time) and I didn't even watch all episodes, just watched some when my mom was watching :)
I also have no regret watching this. It seems we're the only 2 people watching it here. I think in youtube most complaints are about X can't act or too much romance or the story was dragging/impossible or too dark, but I think there are some like us who want the next episode now. We know the show has its shortcomings but it's not that bad.

That's true. If he were the leader, he would have asked his son to be released. That's good point as well that she doesn't listen to anyone.

Junjie actually asked that question you asked when Ma Qiming visited Mois. He refused to answer. But later on, he mentioned I forget to MuChuan or to his assistant that he put YunHao into the orphanage and changed his family name to protect his son from Scorpio after his wife died. That's the part that made me question if he was the leader.

Neither can I. Yup, the rating is 7.8 now. I don't usually give rating to any show (with exception for one American show at IMDB as I hate the show so much due to very poor writing and some rude fans to people who don't agree with them. LOL) but I think it's fairer to rate a show after it finishes airing. I should have waited until it finishes airing to watch as well but it's too late now :)
Oh yes, I'm glad that dark period is over. I saw a lot of complaint about those episodes in Youtube.

I didn't see JunJie's dad properly and MDL didn't list his name so I couldn't check. You're possibly right. Did RuanTaiYuan said something about couldn't hurt JunJuie because of his father? But isn't it a bit too late as they have hurt him so much in those 12 episodes onward. They were even about to kill him. Did the writer forget about that or did she just discover about JunJie's father?

I thought Amanda might be involved because she was too good to be true but I didn't think of her as the head. I also hope it's not JunJie's father but the chance is slim now because why would he fake his own death. But he could do it to protect his son.

I also read similar thing. This show was shot in 2018 but the company nearly went bankrupt. However, a few platforms bought the right to the show because of the cast so the company is OK now. So they should have hyped this show more. The news I read might be wrong though.

True about what happened to Mu Chuan. It's really surprising Jun Jie was willing to protect him and they sort of friendlier to each other after that.
I also hope the ML and FL have happy endings. They have suffered since they were kids. So does SML actually.
I'm not sure whether Ma Qiming is the leader of Scorpio or not at this stage. It was never confirmed. If he was, did he kill his own wife? True that he's still YunHao's dad and he really loved his son.
Yup about the Ruan woman, Calais n Gu with the blue hair. I'm surprised that Calais still survived until this long. He could be considered as the main antagonist at this stage.

I think it's a region problem. I read somewhere that it's only available in Taiwan, China, and some other regions. On the first and second day of airing (25 and 26 April), I saw the show was on iQiyi but it's no longer there. They restricted the region afterward. I'm not VIP in iQiyi yet but usually I can still watch older shows.
The youtube site I think is also official but they're far behind. I think they're 6 episodes behind VIP.

I agree. I actually enjoyed the part between ML and Mu Chuan. Also because I want to see William acted against Simon Yam because they barely had time together up to episode 30 :) I also find episode 31 onward is more enjoyable.

I watched 36 from dramacool but the voice and scene didn't sync so it was much harder to watch. It seemed to be the same with 37 when I skimmed through last night. Plan to watch 37 and 38 today.

Which show is Miss S? Miss Sherlock? I might check it out as I love Australian's Miss Fischer, her chemistry with the detective inspector was sizzling and I love the dress and costume in that time period in any country.

OK, thanks for the info. Even Ancient Detective also has a cliffhanger ending but at least I heard there will be season 2.
