Newcomers don't need my words for that. Most are complaining about the slow pace and unappealing fighting scenes and lack of that good wuxia punch. So I guess the director who promoted it as something enticing before airing is doing a good job at it. For my concern everyone know what is the wrong thing that is ruinning it.

Yeah I made mistake about the app where it is streamed on (usually I don't care about them). I only watch the drama, the actors, check if the storyline and chemistry between the main pairings are good and then go. Matter of fact I only knew recently "rise of phoenixes" was linked with netflix years after its release and I knew about it. Therefore I admit that fact of not caring about apps. The only one I have on my phone is viki. I had Netflix cause everyone around me were encouraging me to have it. For 2/3 months I had it. Then I got rid of it when I saw how the top drama over there is a shameless glorified plagiat of Japanese works like Kaiji and As Gods Will titled : squid game (and the director is a shameless liar). I don't want to give my hard earned money to that.

Yes I hate Jiang Ni is played by such an unfit female actress acting like a kiddo in a modern idol drama. Pouting all the way through, mannerism and voice =unfit, chemistry with male lead looks like the latter is playing with his niece. In a costume drama with HuJun, Zhang Ruo Yun, that kinda wants to emulate the 2002 movie Hero's vibe, why ? It is as if I am in lavish 5 stars restaurant with great decoration and sophisticated atmosphere and at the end I am served macdonalds. Still I wish for this drama to be as recognised as JOL was for ZRY and Wang Juan sake.

It is not doing as good as JOL which was one of the best dramas of 2019 (not only in China) and was a sensation with the likes of Longest day in Chang'an and The untamed.
