Also, he forbade anyone to bring up Tan and his past. Yeah, that’s not going to work for long. She is coming for her man and she is coming for you! I just don’t know how she will do it with all her friends there. The three musketeers , the Empress, the siblings, her robotic man who you KNOW will try and stop her because he was reprogrammed…. This next battle will be a tough one.
Ceng shao nian (once a teen) is the novel name and is an amusing style high school school drama starring a young actress (acting is pretty good for a young actress). chinese title seems to mean once a teen, the youth years (sequel drama is sort of once a teen, the working years). alternate title is once and forever, the sun rises. There is a sequel drama of the working years and the older actress is a guest star and does some narration in ep 1 about her remembering 1997 when hong kong was about to go back to china and she was a student and had to do dance rehearsals in tian an men square for the event (near the jinshui bridge, beijing). Novel seems to be a historical romance novel that covers both the student years and the working years. This drama covers the student years and the sequel drama will cover the working years. Drama starts in 1997 and maybe will end around 2008 remembered for the great wenchuan, sichuan earthquake that killed about 90,000 people. Set in denghua hutong and gule hutong, beijing and the drama mentions beijing foods like zhajiang noodles.
Englighten Your Life is historical drama about china's first nuclear power plant. chinese title seems to mean I wish the city to be ablaze with lights. The characters work in the nuclear power plant but it is not comedy like Homer Simpson.
Taste Of Love is the usual rom com with male ceo (adapted from manhua blackmailed by bossy ceo). chinese title seems to mean my love Tang is a perfectly flaky pastry. Main female is obese takeout delivery worker who used to be in a 3 person girl band. Main actor is from Blood Of Youth. Has the usual trope about the main male having some type of psychological problem which in this rom com is face blindness.
Warm On A Cold Night seems to be a crime mystery drama set in ancient times with yokai cases. chinese title seems to mean Nine heavens cold night but keeping warm (the main female has a strange disease that makes her feel cold). Has some comedy and acting is acceptable for a comedy. Main female is a cop and played by actress from Knockout. Main male is a werewolf leader who helps in investigations and is from the drama silence of the monster. The werewolves can do martial arts so there is some martial arts in this drama. Ep 1 has case of werewolf killing some officials.
I dislike the FL. She looks like the annoying 2FL that pursues the ML and makes a mess out of anything and everything. I am on episode 5 and don't think can go on anymore.
Never Give Up is a office comedy with lots of characters set in an electronics company selling products like electronic health chair. Both the 2022 korean Gaus Electronics and Never Give Up are based on a korean webtoon 가우스전자 (gaus electronics). Chinese title seems to mean today we should work harder. It is entertaining enough.
So far, this is my favorite chinese modern day drama of all time. It's an epic love story about a man who loses everything just to turn the tables around and a woman who has to break free from her parents claws to truly find herself and save the person she loves the most. He gives her the courage to follow her dreams and she gives him the safe haven and support he's missing since childhood.
I enjoyed the plot as it was tight and never dragged. There were no unneccessary side stories to distract the viewer. We got to see a realistic story with hearbreaking lows and amazing highs. The ending satisfied me and made up for the heartwrenching moments in between. Who else had to laugh when he saw a handful men in black instead of bride's maids? ^^ Also, I loved their conversation about having a baby. Zhu Yun's intention for him to never feel alone again and Li Xun's whish to finally give Zhu Yun everything she needs to be happy shows how deeply they understand each other's wishes and needs.
I loved the characters. They were not just black and white or overly perfect. Instead they were grey and (almost all of them) relatable. The female lead was just as strong as the male lead, which is rare in chinese dramas. Above this, especially the main leads character development and growth was so well done. They never acted out of character to fill plot holes. They just made sense until the end, never giving up on each other. I LOVED their chemistry. Be it their bickering, the intense gazes, light skinship, kisses or else, they were perfect together. The actors did an outstanding job here!! If there would be another season about their married/family life, I'd definitely watch it. This couple is addictive and, to be honest, I'm going to have a hard time forgetting their chemistry once I see them with a different counterpart in another drama.
This is a 8.5/10 for me. So go and watch if you're unsure. You won't regret it!
Starry love seems like a comedy xianxia. Chinese title seems to mean star falls and becomes sugar. Male god who has been in isolation for thousands of years ends up with a jinx princess in an arranged marriage and bride swap plot, and probably learns to love the jinx princess. Mythology has 4 types: 1> good gods, 2> evil gods, 3> animal yokai, 4> people. Acting is acceptable and the comedy is entertaining.
I watched the ending again. There are his and hers toothbrushes in his house. He is wearing his wedding ring when he leaves the house even though his clothes look like from the past. He promised her to get two fish. Apparently she went away for treatment to America for a year and returned after she got better. So she came back. Mom promised her she would move on too and be with someone. Great ending. Easily they could have made her pass away, which would be reality, but we need some happy endings too. So glad they are made to be together. ❤️
