I watched till E5 and so far, this drama hasnt impressed me at all. The cinematography and background score are the only highlights for me but i just cant digest the plot. Even though i know from spoilers that the leads arent actually brother and sister, it still gives off strong incest vibes. What bothered me more was the fact that the female lead started developing feelings and even kissed the male lead while she was still unsure if he was her brother or not.
One thing that really irked me was the stepmother’s abuse of the FL. The way she treats her absolutely boiled my blood. And the way the FL allows herself to be treated like that without standing up for herself made me dislike her too. It annoyed me to the point where I started imagining an alternative plot, one where the FL is actually an anti heroine, and the entire drama centers around her dark character.

Here is the alternative plot I came up with:
This drama is set in a royal palace. The ML and FL are step siblings, with the ML being the crown prince and the FL the princess. The FL's real mother was the queen, while the ML’s mother was the king’s favored concubine. Since the queen couldnt bear a male heir, the ML, son of the concubine was named crown prince. The other concubines also failed to produce a male heir. Despite this, the concubine remained jealous of the queen and eventually plotted to kill her and succeeded. After the queen’s death, the concubine became the new queen and began abusing the FL, keeping her away from palace.

As children, the ML and FL were very close. Despite the abuse, they secretly met because they loved each other as siblings. One day, the ML was kidnapped. While everyone searched for him, the FL found and rescued him. They fled together but when they reached a cliff, the ML nearly fell. The FL held his hand at first but then smiled cruelly and let go, intentionally causing his fall.
Years later, with no male heir, the FL is declared crown princess. She gains significant power in the palace. A political struggle begins between her and the former concubine (now queen), who suspects the FL of causing her son’s death. The FL keeps up her innocent image in front of everyone, including her father, the king, while showing her true colors only to the queen dowager. Since she cannot officially rule as queen, she uses the SML as her puppet. She marries him because of his strong family background and everyone expects him to become king, allowing her to rule through him.

When the old king starts suspecting the truth, the FL plots and kills him as well. She feels no guilt as the king had ignored her suffering and always sided with the new queen.
During the SML’s coronation, her plans fall apart when the ML, whom she thought was dead, returns. Court ministers support shifts towards him as the rightful heir. A fierce power struggle ensues. The FL attempts to expose him as an imposter but fails. Its revealed that he truly is her stepbrother. Though the ML becomes king, the FL continues to wield influence in the palace through her political ties.

Eventually the ML exposes the FL’s dark secrets, how she tried to kill him and murdered their father. Unable to accept defeat, the FL takes her own life.

After her death, the SML exposes the ML’s mother. It turns out that ML was never the real son of the king as king was unable to produce male heir, ML's mother had conceived him with her first love, a powerful court minister. He also reveals that the ML’s mother killed the previous queen, explaining the trauma that turned the FL into what she became. The court exiles the queen dowager and her ex lover, and she loses her sanity in exile. Unable to accept the truth, the ML disappears and is never seen again. Since the SML was complicit in the FL’s crimes, he and his family are exiled too.

Eventually, another princess from another concubine becomes queen and her husband becomes king. The story ends.

We really need more anti heroine sageuks like this.

I found E1 really average. The drunkard FL and her drunkard family annoyed me so much. If the FL werent a drunkard, i might have liked it a bit more but here, i just hated her character. They even tried to gain sympathy for her by showing that her ex cheated on her, as a way to justify her drinking habits but i felt zero sympathy.

Even Brewing Love had an alcohol theme but at least the leads werent drunkards. I didnt even feel any annoyance while watching Work Later, Drink Now but this one was purely annoying.

Sieun-Suho shippers are so annoying on social media, especially on X. Liking them and shipping them on the show is one thing but shipping them in real life based on baseless assumptions and making false claims about their sexualities is another, its honestly one of the most annoying things im witnessing these days.

Shippers from QOT used to do the same thing back then and now im seeing it happen all over again.

There was one post where someone faked an Instagram story of Choi Hyunwook, making it look like someone asked about his sexuality and he gave a vague reply implying he is bisexual. When i read the replies, i realized it wasnt real, it was actually made up by the original poster.

I dont know if they understand the gravity of making such false claims. Talking about someone’s sexuality or relationships based on their delusions, these people seriously need to stop.

Title Heavenly Ever After Spoiler
Heavenly Ever After is such an amazing show, everything feels so unique. The whole mystery surrounding Young Ae and Somi is so fascinating, i wonder who exactly is Somi?? Her habits are so similar to Young Ae’s yet she clearly isnt her so then who is she?? Sometimes i even wonder if she might be the lead couple’s daughter. Imean, what if she died during the Hae Suk's pregnancy?? Or maybe she was stolen by someone or something even stranger happened?? And if she is supposed to be the Hae Suk’s younger self, then why is she in the afterlife and how come neither Nak Joon nor the Hae Suk herself realizes it?? Even the dogs keep saying she has a unique scent but why?? Sonya also seems to know something about her but as usual, she behaves like a cat, sly and silent and refuses to reveal anything. And what about those terrifying, hellish dreams Somi keeps having?? So many questions yet no clear answers. The mystery is quite gripping, it keeps you guessing at every turn.

I completely agree with you and the thing is, i have read the webtoon as well and i find it interesting how the…
Im glad someone finally understands that not every piece of source material can be translated directly to the screen as it is. Most of the time, changes are necessary. You cant just demand a scene by scene adaptation, there are many factors to consider when creating live action versions of webtoons, novels, anime etc. One of the biggest factors is the total airing time and number of episodes, which greatly influence how the storyline is shaped and which parts need to be included or left out.
(Here another factor was when Suho's character became extremely popular. Because of that, they had to bring him out of the coma by the end of S2 so he could return in S3. That also influenced the direction of the story in S2.)

What really matters is the quality. To me, it was just as good as S1. Everything was on the same level and i was thoroughly impressed from start to finish.

I found S1 depressing as well as light hearted, imean the trio had their own happy moments here and there in S1 until last few eps but this season was straight heavy right from the start mostly because of suho being in coma.

I have to disagree on the intensity and greatness, at least for the first 2 episodes. No where near the quality…
By intensity, i meant emotional intensity. I found it deeply overwhelming as Si Eun was deeply depressed because of Suho and the overall atmosphere felt heavy and gloomy.

I dont understand why everyone is hating on it. Since i havent read the webtoon, it didnt feel rushed to me at all, it felt just as good as S1. Personally, i enjoy fast paced dramas with shorter episodes, so this suited my taste perfectly. Thats also why i loved S1, it was concise and got straight to the point.

Depends on ratings. Most business dramas didnt receive good ratings so they werent renewed for a second season.…
I guess i can put my faith in Signal 2 because its Kim Eun Hee who is writing the script. Plus i think they will only have 8 episodes to properly wrap up S1 so the script will likely be really tight with no filler.

As for Misaeng i havent seen any other good work from the writer besides Misaeng itself so im a little skeptical but i still have hope for it.

Personally i dont think Auditors will be renewed for S2. It didnt really hit double digit ratings, its highest was around 9.5%. They hinted at a second season but i honestly dont think it's happening.
Maybe they will renew it for S2 in the future only if they feel like it just like Misaeng.

One thing i have noticed is that cable channels like tvN or JTBC are always hesitant to renew any show for a second season even if it had good ratings. Only SBS is the one who actually keeps renewing almost every other show for a second season. So lets hope JTBC will renew this show for S2.

What's up with kdrama's and average/bad endings. There has to be a second season because how do you explain the…
How come its considered as a bad or average ending? Didnt they resolve the main conflict of Season 1? That was pretty much the central point of the season and it concluded with Juno learning the full truth behind his brother's death and ousting Director Ha from the company. So honestly, this is the best conclusion they could have given to S1.

What came afterward was clearly meant to set up S2. Life doesnt just stop after one event is resolved, things keep moving forward. So even if there is no second season, it doesnt really matter. The primary arc of S1 reached its resolution. Everything shown after that can be seen as a continuation of life, not necessarily needing a neat or happy ending.

have any business drama renewed for another season before? ( I mean one without workplace romance.)
Depends on ratings. Most business dramas didnt receive good ratings so they werent renewed for a second season. But this one has a high chance because its (finale) real time ratings peaked at 26%, which means the finale could achieve double digit ratings around 11-13%, further solidifying its position for a potential S2.

Apart from that, Misaeng, one of tvN’s hit business life dramas from 2015, is making a comeback with a new season nearly 10 years later.

The show is good, the first two episodes were solid but things become quite monotonous at times. The writing is actually quite good but the limitations stem from the specific theme the drama is exploring. Since it focuses solely on the lives of OBGYN residents, it doesnt have the flexibility to showcase the high stakes medical cases or complex surgeries from other departments that usually make medical dramas more gripping. As a result, it cant tap into the elements that typically draw in a broader audience. This is one major difference you can notice between the original show Hospital Playlist and this drama.

That said, the writer is doing a good job within the limited scope. They are effectively portraying the challenges faced by the residents and it seems the story will eventually delve into how they grow and overcome their shortcomings which could make for an exciting watch. So with these limitations in mind, i guess its best to watch it with the right expectations.
