It's not that somber, there's some comedic or light tone scenes too. I actually like all the talking and the dialogue.…
Seems like we're opposites. Haha. Yeah, I like dramas of this ilk sometimes too, which is why I'm a little surprised I couldn't get into it. But, I'll inevitably end up trying it again... ^_^
Here's my thoughts... I don't know if it's the mood I was in when I tried to watch it or what but I couldn't make it through the first episode. I dropped it about 75% in, but maybe one day I'll pick it back up because I had high hopes for this one.
Things I liked: - The production quality - The cast of characters/actors
Things that didn't vibe with me: - The somber tone. Too serious? - All the talking (lots of it)
Like I said, maybe it was the mood I was in when I tried to watch it. Or perhaps I anticipated it too much? I don't know...
Hmmm... here's my thoughts thus far. I just finished episode 5 (watching via Viki and have to wait for subs). I have mixed feelings. Pros: - This story has potential. *fingers crossed* It could be great. We'll see. - It's got that Xianxia feel but a little differently portrayed than any of the dramas I've seen, so that's kept me going. - Several of the cast have been good in other things I've watched and I want to see them here. - I like the world building thus far. - Aesthetics are nice. Cons & Mixed Vibes: - The start is kind of...slow? I feel like it took too long to get to where the 100 years passed. Maybe because their past life was a bit boring and felt dragged out. The first five episodes could've been condensed into 2 and my feelings wouldn't be the slightest hurt. - Their initial love story and resulting betrayal felt rushed. I didn't get the love connection between them. Very stilted. More like friendly acquaintances, honestly. - I felt like the prologue part focused on the wrong things and that's what hindered my enjoyment a bit. Will I keep watching? For sure. Like I said, it has potential and it wouldn't be the first show that I got absorbed into that started off slow. So my fingers are crossed. ^_^
