As an avid kdrama watcher this is the cliché drama of all clichés but it deserves 0 hate. it's well executed and simple enough even got my emotionless a$$ excited. I'll keep watching for the laughs and satisfaction

First of all, let me start by prefacing that I am single watching this, seems like that changes the perspective of how you see this work.

I gotta say this drama aged well in my eyes because watching this in 2023 when it came out in 2014 I’m surprised it's not awfully outdated. It maintained its uniqueness and while I’ve seen it described as mellow, it's refreshing and not quite as dull. Yet still, I sure have a couple of bones to pick but I gotta say I am impressed. The production team definitely did their thing.

I’m sharing my opinions on the characters, there are some lil spoilers here and there so be careful ..

Firstly; male lead. I personally do not like this man, from the day he met ll Ri. For a grown man he entertained too much childishness in my opinion. To me it seems like the only reason why he finally gave in to her was because she saved him from the accident. I get it somehow, maybe he felt like he owed it to her, or that it moved him so much or heck it could be that he already liked that little girl(i guess it was implied when he said he was counting days til she graduates) in which case, gross. No teacher spends such amounts of time with their student, unless it's common in Korea which not gonna lie I doubt, and that’s very strange. I'm saying that he could’ve ended it before it started, and that’s really what he should’ve done(he tried I guess but not enough for me) but then again kdramas love fate… Another thing, he’s portrayed as a kind nice dude and I suppose he is, but name one thing this man did for ll Ri. Even when they met for the second time he did not really express his interest or put in effort that he wanted ll Ri too, he just kind of went with everything. It's sad that his luck is so rotten but I honestly do not see what ll Ri saw. I really do not see him as attractive; he’s not charming, he’s not funny, he’s not fulfilled(like that) like ??? And to top it all off he’s very stalkerish. Oh and the anger issues + vengefulness. I’m having a hard time seeing how “perfect” he is. His reasoning mostly did not make sense to me as well. He gave shorty such a hard time until Mr neighbor confessed to meddling and that didn’t sit well with me, he’s more focused on how he’s perceived by others.

I do like the second male lead though. It doesn’t help that he is conventionally attractive. Of course, he’s not perfect, but I feel like he was sincere from the very start and is really an action man. Maybe its a personal preference and I know attraction is subjective but he’s portrayed as everything KT isn’t and not gonna lie his scenes sent shivers down my spine. I do not fully like how passionate he was, to a point it felt pushy and he seemed to have no sense of shame or moral compass. He often misspoke and misacted and I wish he was a bit more reserved in that aspect but it all made for an amazing character. I definitely understand ll Ri and why she fell for him.

Now to ll Ri. Lord. I’ll try to keep it short. She needed to be humbled a bit at the beginning. She has too much confidence and came off as extremely childish for a high school student. The only thing she had going for her was her painting ambition and her undying pursuit for her teacher. In which case, weird. Even the sister warned her, but her disobedient self did not listen of course. As she grew I saw improvement, and she was still quirky which was a plus but omg she needs to listen. She did not need to keep showing up at Kim’s house at all. She is definitely to blame for a lot. She really does not think before doing something and that irks me. She did not have to let her life be controlled by her in-laws like that, which makes her seem like a pushover. She had no right to complain about it at all, she did all to herself.

All other characters had their things going too, but I couldn’t grasp the situation between the two younger in-laws. They were overall so weird and I did not like ML’s bro at all, that guy is annoying. Another thing I did not understand is why the sister collapsed, but I’m on episode 14 so let's see if they reveal it. Oh and all the soju drinking - Lawd I hope their livers and kidneys are okay

Before watching this show i didn't think there was such a thing as emotional cheating. However I believe its up to the individual to voice their concerns they have with their partner to make necessary changes and there's never an excuse to cheat.

The ending was a little devastating, only because it wasn't to the watcher's expectation. In real life its perfectly reasonable choosing the one you have feelings for over something that could be, that's just potential. But then again personally my trust would be close to impossible to ammend so its whatever, but I respect her decision. I still don't understand why Yo just couldn just make love to her, like you already love her ??? and would they stay like that forever

In my opinion as a black individual, people are overreacting about the blackface. The character did it as a disguise blend into a tree background, watch it carefully you'll see. It blew my mind to also see real black people in there, unless their blackface was hella realistic which i highly doubt. Otherwise great movie, its comedy but its not like break your ribs funny. It has its moments; the actions pretty good, the acting is superb and the storyline is very satisfying which deserves a great rating in my book. I'm very new to this "sageuk" genre and see myself getting more into it.

I've heard it's Ko mi sook and Fl's mom's brother. but here what I think:

alright so far the two dead subjects are seoul teacher and Fl's mom's sister. Now they don't particularly have anything in common, however there's something in common between Seoul teacher and Yu sub, which is they have something to do with rebellion/protests.

With this information I am almost sure the killers are the police officers. They somehow found Seoul teacher and killed her(they're pretty brutal from hee seobs beating so I'm not surprised) then dumped her in the river(it's also possible that their task force is huge hence they were able to commit both murders same night) As for fl mom's sister, she was meeting with Yu seob, big no no and was probably not able to escape hence she met the fate she met. This explains his necklace being found near her scene..

I'm guessing Ml also meets the same fate with law since he's discovered the truth and since he's a journalist or wtv he was working to release it or something!!

As for Ko mi Sook, she must've figured out hee seobs story somehow (she's rich so she probably has her own ways) and figured the brother protests as well and stroke a deal with hee seob to frame his brother *if something happens (*not sure if she knew murders were to happen) and most likely for her silence, FL mom must've given her her writing!!

I have been reading your theories, and I love them all. But I think I've cracked it after ep 9

Currently watching ep 12 and it's interestint ngl.

I get that it's possible but just how many times is it realistic for an event to happen identically at 2 different times, two same people present and almost every condition almost mirrored. sure let's call it some kind of mysterious kdrama fate but it's a little too imagined for me, almost like the writer was trying too hard to get a deep storyline. But then again they had to address the powers and their origins somehow.
As for everyone else's relationship, I don't have much comments. I'm happy for seung taek and ban howoo, as for director and Ms actor girl..ehh I'll let them do their thing. I'm glad they didn't turn it into a work place love matching drama too.
I'm satisfied with the ending, I love their bickering and their realistic approach to this new relationship. Wish they didn't break up oh so often but it was good for a laugh so I won't complain about it much. Overall this drama was light, somewhat interesting and kept me watching so it deserves some applause 👏👏👏

I came across it acccidentally and I couldn't be luckier. END OF EP 6 HELLLOOO. WOAH.
It started off light and frankly i was a little confused and annoyed by ol boy's behavior but it adds up. Cant wait for next episode.

Well this felt more like oh you shitted on my fav so I'ma shit on you vibes but been there done that. Its understandable.
Did I enjoy this drama? Yes. Did I love every single aspect of it? No. This was simply a rant but Anyway:
1. I agree with you and the points proven in the previous procession of episodes. Personally I do not fancy crime solving dramas/shows, I was merely concerned with the fact that we did not get to figure how he ended up "taking care of it."
2. I kind of wish it was revealed when san grandpa was alive, maybe would've added flavor to the whole dementia situation. Again, my own preference/opinion.
3. It was reality but still annoying.
4. We have different opinions on this one but I will respect that.
5. I was talking about the depiction in the show at the point I was at but I got the gist.

I would like to rant. And hear me out. This are not my final thoughts, since I still have about two episodes to go. But if i don't get this out I'll probably burst.
1. So they're just going to mention cases and not say what happened afterward. In the case of the disappearing girls in the name of making them palace maids, I understand that Hong Ro was going to take care of it. But that's it??
2. I liked how the past played out in this show. However, I am concerned about the ripped page out of the forbidden book. When will the king find out. How is Hong Ro always taking credit for what he did not do and get away with it. I was hoping they would've said something in the episode where the maids' rooms were raided. I remember seeing a snapshot of the ripped paper and got excited for drama but alas. Nothing.
3. How is Hong Ro getting away with literally everything with no consequences, not even a slap on the wrist. Especially on ep 14. It gets on my nerves OMG.
4. I am right in the beginning of ep 15 and What The Heck! HUHHHHhhh. The unconsented kiss. I understand that maybe for the timing of the show consent wasn't in existence. The show admits it is a depiction not as accurate to the real events. But it is embarrassing especially with the then immediate change of heart. So what was the purpose of the kiss?
5. And lastly, I know the king is devoted to be a good ruler. But i got to admit with queen dowager. He has not done anything of significance. He has goals. That's it. Its not over yet though, so I am looking forward to see his grand plan

I am on episode 4 going into 5 and despite being a hardcore kdrama watcher I am not getting the humor aspect and the storyline is so hard to grasp. Yet I'm not compelled to leave the drama. Like WHATS NoT CLickInG????
