I have watched some Song dynasty set dramas in the past but this drama here is the one that made me care about…
I love this post. This is how I feel. I tell my husband all the time about how I love how the Chinese have so much knowledge and respect for their history and you can still see it today. They don't try to destroy it or ignore it. They acknowledge it and show it in their works.
What did you think of Jian Jun story line by the end?
I still didn't like the fact that they spent so much focusing on him. I felt his storyline was so overkill. I don't mean for this to sound bad, it just he wasn't really one of the main leads and it is like they spent almost the whole second half of the series all about him, granted there were other stories, etc, but I felt that there could have been so many more stories told and his should have just ended when he went to prison. I was sad about the way he died, I did like that it brought Yang Shu back at the end to the apartment with all of them. I actually thought Li Di Wei's master would have been the one to step in front of the bullet and die, I didn't really like that they had Jian Jun do it, it didn't make sense they allowed him to be at the scene, that honestly imo would never have happened. But I am not the storyteller and it still was a great series.
I'm on episode 4 as well. It's not fast paced but it's not boring for me. CLOY was more boring for me than this…
Ahhh yes, I have seen that (sort of), didn't know why I didn't put it together. Yeah I can see your point. I really like the actors in it, but I agree with your review. I found it slow and I fast forwarded and skipped episodes til the end. It was a good drama, but it wasn't for me.
Thank you 😊 Happy thatyou liked it. I binge watched too much, so now need some sleep before I tackle another…
Yeah I am thinking of starting A Dream of Splendor as well. I don't know if I want to try and catch up to the series or wait till it is done and binge it, same with Heroes. I usually prefer binging. Lately though, I have been watching series as they air, it is a different feeling watching as air than binging. I watched the first episode of Flames of War, mainly cause Leon Lai is in it, but I couldn't get into it. I am not a huge retro era drama watcher, although I did really like Arsenal Military Academy.
Yang Shu got to come back in the last episode. What a good ending! This very well could be a great series to continue. The cast was phenomenal, the acting, and the stories. I have never been a fan of this type of genre or drama, but the acting made this very entertaining to watch. I loved it all. Sad to see it end.
Ahhh the teaser for episode 38!!! Also, nice to see Yang Shu again, but probably the last time, cause I saw on XKC's instagram page his farewell to his character. And, can we please stop having storylines about Jian Jun. I thought his story was over and yet they keep bringing him back.
The two new episodes were a little slow for me. I did like seeing how everyone (when I mean everyone, I mean even the people in the different areas they were at) in their own way celebrates the new year. It was nice to see the chief reach out to Jian Jun's family and invite them to the celebration at the police station. When Chief Gao was requesting 2 young men, I had a little hope they would be bringing Yang Shu back, but unfortunately not. I do hope we see him again. I can't believe they didn't invite him to their celebration.
they haven't shown any other than really close friends/colleagues, we might see some now that both their moms are becoming really good friends, but I don't know, there's only 6 episodes left so I guess we shall see
Finally heart warming episodes and happy for xia jie that she moved to household registration. Neither her mom…
her mother seems to be better after that talk with xia jie's master, household register is probably a better fit for her, at first I thought she wasn't going to be at the same station, I didn't realize the household register was right there, so I feel better about her going there. I was afraid they were going to move her like they did Yang Shu.
XJ's mother is unreasonable. How can she demand her daughter be transferred? I am sorry if I was her daughter I would make her seek help. I understand she lost her husband, but it has been over 12 years. She really needs help if she is being this clingy and irrational still. She really doesn't care about her daughter, it is all about her feelings. If she did she would let her daughter live her life.
Just started the new episodes. LOL, I absolutely just love it when Li Da Wei and his mother interact. They are…
I wonder if Bai Lu and Zhang Ruo Yan were really laughing "BTS" when his "mom" was dragging her "mom" across the street to go eat. That was funny. I think my favorite character is LDW's mom.
Just started the new episodes. LOL, I absolutely just love it when Li Da Wei and his mother interact. They are so cute together. He is so funny, standing there dancing along with her and then on his own when she ran to get clothes. I mean how cute is that. LOL ZRY is embracing this role and I love it.
She's absolutely out of control in ep 29 and 30. :S There's no saving that character... she is toxic. I'm wondering…
She probably was a bit okay, up until XJ actually started working as a police officer. And then it started to get worse and XJ moving out and then when she ended the relationship with Mr. Liang and came back from Dali. I am about to start the new episodes now, but from the comments I am probably going to dislike her more. But, from my view point now, I wish XJ would get her help. I know her mom would probably refuse it, but already at this point she needs it and XJ can't be expected to handle her all on her own and have her own life.
I can't say enough about how great this drama is. Even though I disagree with a lot of the situations and the response to those situations, it really is good. The acting and the stories make this so realistic and believable. You want to hate the bad guy, root for the good guy, be discouraged by the incompetence, and praise those who deserve it, all because these actors are doing such a great job with this script. Regardless of who gets more or less screen time, they have shown what it is like in a "backwoods" low ranking police station.

***I have to say, about these last two episodes, I feel like they kind of gave up on Yang Shu. I get it he probably needs to be away for a bit, but I hope they bring his character back.***
This drama has the capacity to boil our blood. Top 3 cases where I was absolutely pissed off:The case of both…
Yes! I think I really enjoy when Li Da Wei and his master are on screen or the focus. I also like Ji Wei and his master, they are entertaining, especially Ji Wei. I like Xia Jie, but not her master. I am a bit aggravated she is not getting more screen time especially since she is shown as one of the main cast.
I have no sympathy for people who drive under the influence. I hate seeing Yang Shu's character saying it is his…
Also for a supporting character, they spent way to many episodes imo, on Jian Jun. I fast forwarded through a lot of these last two episodes, cause I really don't like this character and I really hate the fact that everyone wants to excuse his behaviors.
