I can agree you on everything you said about chemistry being subjective until you mentioned, you see her as DD when in romance with WL and not Changge. That's a very wrong notion taken. Dilraba's character in Love Designer was the mature, independent modern woman who can without restraint show her love and get bold in physical intimacy with her man. Dilraba's character as Changge, is an adolescent, introvert girl, who is a lady killer with the ladies but when it comes to love, she's clueless, new, shy and introvert, not bold in physical intimacy (like in the mature woman she played in LD), she portrays all the shyness, heart beat at every subtle touch she feels when Sun touches her very amazingly, letting us feel her "Tsundere" character vividly. She lets us know what's Changge's first time in romance and love looks like, and makes her feel. So when you see her as Dilraba and not Changge and immediately conclude that as a real life judgement of her seeing him as a little brother, that's very double standard, which in general is to boldly say, Dilraba as the real person has more chemistry and feels no hesitation with Johny contrary to Wu Lei. As much I'd like to appreciate your take on getting back at that comment "subjective", unfortunately, I can't. Because you are to judge the romance through the characters, the actresses/actors portray, not by seeing their "what must the actress be feeling for real for the actor". All those expressions she gave out with Johny was for her character and all the expressions she gave Wu Lei, are for her character. She is not an unprofessional actress who would as you are saying, letting any feelings as real person, inhibit the potential to see the sparks you want to see. Dilraba and Wu Lei portrayed excellently, the love, they felt for the very first time, when they were coming of age, in a conservative era, but lacking bold moves physically only made their manifestation even more significant. The love, which wasn't just about themselves, but about their nation.
