Lowkey missing them rn. I still dont forgive the productions shitty cgi and lighting tho π This drama literally casted a power couple and called it a day. Even if this dramas quality is shitty, the couple will surely carry it. Im still sad they ruined the beauty of the novel. π€ I liked the relationship dynamics and chemistry of the casts.
CQL and WOH are two of the biggest bl/bromances of Cdramas, as such that comparison is hard to avoid ofc but plsss omygod for the love of god stop dragging the other one to raise the other one. Surely we do have our own preferences and personally I prefer CQL's plot, over WOH but pls do remember that they are also two different genres. Xianxia vs Wuxia, pick. Also, i literally cannot fathom how some yall are saying there's no chemistry cause hun... u need to seek an opthalmologist now. Okay im done yapping. Now stop slandering my two wonderful couplesπ€π€π€
sucks that I watched The Untamed first, because despite this show being ''good'' , its falling behind on every…
While i do believe that when it comes to the plot, CQL is more fleshed out and cohesive, in comparison to WOH being this typical wuxia set up. From the first place, Tian Ya Ke wasn't one of the strongest novels priest had written imo because I have read both novels but WOH has its own charms. Surely their production falls short compared to CQL because they literally had only not even half of the budget CQL had, take note CQL is already considered a low-budget drama, what more has the WOH crew even struggled. I beg to disagree but if yall are saying their chemistry fails, we must be watching two different dramas then. When I watched WOH during its airing, I could not believe all those FRUITY things were allowed by the censorship. It made all giddy, punching and screaming at my pillow. My boys had explosive chemistry both on and off screen. PERIODT.
If you count on romance then don't watch it xd . For entire drama maybe couple hugs , maybe two bland kisses and…
I mean that blindfold kiss was hot but not really burning passionate lolz but i like the romance, it's pretty solid enough for me.βπ» It balances well with the mystery. I like it how both initiates (lol pan yue just keeps on getting uno reverse cards and gets flustered instead π€). Aweee pan yue is such a malewife, he wants to know all the little things about her and care for her ugh i stanπ§π»ββοΈ
Pro tip if u want to start the drama, just skim through the moments of ycw and py in the first few episodes to avoid feeling betrayed after ep 2. πππ» Or u know what just skip it, dont get attached u know.
I watched the first two episodes and tried my best to suck it up and not get attached to the og ycw because it might ruin me. Thankfully i did just like how i needed to move on the fuck out when they swapped out mudeoki with naksu in alchemy of souls lmao.
This is like the biggest flaw of the drama. They should've made it as flashbacks instead and made it non linear. It's a drawback when two actresses are supposed to play one character yet the ycw but looks like sgz felt like a diff persona instead. So guys, just save yourselves im telling yall so you can peacefully enjoy the mystery, case solving and slow burn romance.
They kept on saying they'll change what fate the heaven's gave them but in the end they can only succumb to the misery of the punishment bestow upon then. These divine gods are quite problematic yall...π
Lingsha still died from the divine punishment of Han family and Tianhe became blind which I'm not sure for what reason. Was it because it was the consequence of wielding the bow or because he dared to save the mortal world when he should've just accepted his fate? His existence was basically considered a selfishness by the heavens.
i really hoped ziying would end up with mengli lmao but the four of them showcased different types of relationships:
platonic love. between friends. the bond the four has, who has always sticked and protected one another.
romantic relationship. a special one only between lingsha and tianhe.
mentorship. a special role ziying fulfilled in order to let the trio grow, especially tianhe. he protected tianhe along the way, treated him with kindness despite the fact he was labeled a traitor's son, his teaching helped tianhe put all his aspirations into action. ziying can understand tianhe's state of mind and will stand on the same page as tianhe.
sibling familial love. being under one teacher, ziying and mengli has a disciple senior-junior bond. su shen took mengli as her disciple to help ziying understand the true way of being a cultivator, get rid of his hatred and relieve him from the pain of losing a cherished younger sister. i cried yall when he caressed mengli's face, such a heart warming scene.
sisterhood. "my dear younger sister", as mengli lovingly calls lingsha.
a selfless one sided love. from the moment mengli tightly wrapped her arms around tianhe before leaving for huanming, i just knew she has always liked tianhe, didnt she? yet she cheered for them and told lingsha to cherish their love.
In addition, ziying and lingsha's. I dont rlly know how to exactly define them but lingsha toward's ziying feels both obv a friend and a younger sis. This perhaps stems from the fact that lingsha grew up with older male cousins, she is ziying's biggest cheerleader. her family has a tragic fate and that made her stronger. ziying has a weak heart but has a strong mind,a push from lingsha helped him along the way to move forward. ziying obv likes her, a silent protector!
i just finished ep 12 and owemji the eps keep getting better! why do i ship hls with mrzy and xuan ying more? hahahaa i find it cute how they slowly warm up and awkward they are. now jumping to sf6 yall
I THINK I WOULDVE ENJOYED THIS BETTER IF I WERE FOLLOWING IT EVERY WEEK AND SLOWLY DEVOURING EACH EPISODE
Let's start this review then!
You can take my comment half heartedly because I must admit that I watched this drama with too much fast forwards because I'm just curious how the ending will turn out because I got spoiled on youtube and i was so intrigued by their past life. I think I fast forwarded a minimal times during the earlier episodes but later on i think the episodes dragged and got me bored too.
Past life vs Modern life. I would've loved this as a sageuk drama with no reincarnations involved or perhaps a rebirth drama instead! I felt so attached with their past life that as im writing this, i cannot remember any scene from the leads in their modern counterpart that had me on the edge compared to their tragic past.
Acting? Commendable. Not familiar with Pyo Yejin but I think she's great and has a cute gummy smile. Kim Youngdae definitely nailed this one. During the earlier episodes, I was just thinking that his character was an absolute menace. His eyes are expressive, I especially liked that scene when he took a lot of medicine. He looked really pitiful there. Also a thumbs up for their vocal modulation! Doha getting caught off guard by Jun-o's high pitched voice was so funny. Han Rita's 'naeuri' is iconic.
Chemistry? Han Rita x Kim Doha = epic, Kang Younghwa x Kim Doha = 50/50
Miracle Firefighter. She was epic at the earlier episodes, especially the Han River incident damn i could barely breathe there and also fighting against 5 or more men when they were kidnapped? amazing. This held so much potential but at the end of the episode, where did that badass Younghwa go? I wouldve loved to see her kick So Ri Bu's ass.
Things I would also like to point out: Recycling flashbacks again and again was damn annoying; that Mr. Seok was damn scary; OST was meh. OG Jun-o was so Gong Taesung coded lmao. Doha's death was iconic periodt.
Ending was... expected. I think it was cute but couldve been more! I like that Jun-o came back tho, Min-o deserves to get his brother back. The closure scene between Jun-o and Younghwa was very much needed. It felt so bittersweet thinking on Younghwa's POV that this person I'm talking to rn is not the very person I loved. He can talk like him, carries a bit of his memories, even thinks of me everyday, but those are just the traces he left. A piece of him.
Changing of the Past. If Rita died with him instead of doing it herself, would the 1,500 years of lingering not happen? A 50/50 perhaps because the main reason Doha stayed was to protect her and let her reincarnate peacefully. Or maybe yes, Doha even forgot what his purpose from the beginning was, he thought he had grudges against her but it was his lingering feelings and wish to guard that made him stay. If he didn't questioned her love because she accompanied him to death, maybe there wouldn't be a knot in his soul left to untangle. When they both died in each other's embrace in Younghwa's dream, damn I cried a bit lol.
Overall a 7.5/10. Would i rewatch this? only for KYD, he looks so good here LMAO. If you like Youngdae, you'd enjoy him here.
you'an was such a red flag. but i do get it, with all the emotional baggage she has been carrying it is a defense mechanism to protect her heart. after all, she came from a divorced family where her dad "cheated" and a mom who kept on telling her not to marry coz men are sht, an ex who got her expelled that she had to ask her dad for money to study abroad, had a coworker who pursued her but was a hell of a self-centered type of man experienced misogyny at her workplace.
and then bam, here comes lil bro of 10 years of age gap coming to chase her. it's already so hard to open up to someone when your guard is up from all the trauma, and then meeting this breath of fresh air, a kind and determined guy is just too good to be true. the tendency to just self-sabotage due to overthinking the relationship and what future they will have.
yes, their first life dragged a bit, but still I loved everything in this drama which is rare bcz i'm really picky…
yah, cdramas usually have great pacing in episodes 10-15 and then midways shts go downhill or slow down, but ironically LY7T dragged their earlier episodes, making some viewers bored. still glad i sticked with it. the next tribulations were far more better executed. Nonetheless, Lu Changkong will always have a special place in my heart.
so, chu kong has actually been repeating this lifetime for the nth time because whenever he and xiangyun went back to 30 000 yrs ago, his memories gets erased and will be stuck and live in that timeline, same major scenarios happen and he'll fall into the loop again. this time, he was able to break the loop. I'm speechless lol
I am still holding on the hope for that, because we really need a reunion between the sisters. But I guess we'll…
yass! it would be great for her and cang hai to fight together. and then ming yue can take the throne and our lovely couple can go and be worry-free wanderers
I feel you. When I first started watching ongoing dramas it was daunting cuz your spending so much time devoting…
love and redemption! you should check it, its also xianxia.. there's too much misunderstanding too and heartbreaks lmao. but the plot twists are mind blowing lol
One thing I don't get it that if Qilin clan is supposed to be the royal family of the heavenly realm? At that…
after watching today's episode, i guess there was no sole tribe who was the head of the six realms, it was only after two of the most prominent clans moluo and dixiu was exterminated that the qilin clan was able to lead with chu kong's brother being on the highest position.
I feel you. When I first started watching ongoing dramas it was daunting cuz your spending so much time devoting…
at this point i have already accepted that the endings of cdramas especially historicals wil just suck or be unsatisfying lol. AoL and LaR had one the most satisfactory endings out there
i think we can predict what happened, this insecure older brother of Chu Kong plotted against moluo clan by unsealing Cang Hai's twin and manipulating her, making her know she was abandoned and make her cause chaos with her uncontrollable powers. i feel bad for her tho

It would've given me so much comfort if at least we can see how the two spent the rest of their remaining time. 100 years was too long for Tianhe, it was both a gift for the people and a curse shackle for him. π©
Hugs everyoneπ« Thus a bittersweet yet beautiful ending for us. ππ»ββοΈ
