Stop saying it's a sad ending.

I've officially finished watching and I can surely say this is the novel adaptation that priest deserved.
I was a bit skeptical at the beginning but the characters won me over. Even though the budget is super low (and it shows) they somewhat make up for it with other aspects. A huge thank you for whoever that made this gayer than the novel.

The story is good, but some might find the political sides a bit boring. It does lag sometimes. Somewhat different than the source material but not that drastic of a difference and it definitely helps. The hidden details just make it more interesting.

CG is definitely not the best. Music and bgm are also decent as well. Costumes are so pretty especially the ML's.

I do not have enough words to describe how much I love the main CP. Butterflies everytime they interact. Their relationship is so beautiful. Every episode is just ......chefs kiss*. The side characters are also decent. If you loved CQL you will definitely love this one too.

Even though it has its fair share of heart breaks the ending is happy and satisfying. They become immortals together. There is a short 37th episode & I would suggest everybody to watch that. It's a genuinely happy ending not open or ambiguous. They had to edit it out because we all know how BS Chinese censorship is.

Wallmart SVSSS but Hear me out.

The story os about 90% similar to SVSSS (scum villain) but is it enjoyable? Absolutely.
It's somewhat in the category of 'its soo bad it's good'. The episodes are only less than 5 min, but the set, props, production etc is kinda decent considering the budget.
The redeeming factor is certainly the actors and. I was laughing the whole time and kind of wish there was more. They say there is a second season, hope it's true. Honestly this one is worth watching as it it's only a few minutes and thuroughly entertaining.

They called me a pathetic single in six different languages.

In simple terms: a time-travel revenge story. This plot might be a dime a dozen, but this series is worth watching. The negatives are few but relevant. The main actors performances are decent but some of the supporting actors are hard to watch. The direction & screenplay could've been better. Production quality could also use some work, but it's watchable. The time travel is not very convincing. 25 years in the future & they still look the same & expect for the phones & some electronics, 1999/2000 looks too modern. A lot of unrealistic things despite the fantasy setting.

The MC, Armin is an actor who was killed & then time travelled 25 years back in the past. He is annoying sometimes, especially during the beginning, but he mellows out and is sweet mostly afterwards. The ML is supposed to be the scary Mr. CEO, but he is totally wrapped around the MC's fingers. The ultimate sugar daddy; with the grand romantic gestures , gifts & throwing money left and right. He is soo down bad for the MC, it's embarrassing to watch (I'm not jealous nope no not at all). They make a great couple & the actors having good chemistry helps with that. Their intimate scenes together - sizzling 🔥Not stiff & awkward. Of course there is some corny stuff only BLs can get away with. Nonetheless, this is worth watching even just for them.

It is definitely one of the better Thai BLs to have come out recently, definitely one of the best in 2025.

Not that good.

I just lost my faith in 'Immortality' because these two dramas have the same director (do hope they prove me wrong).

I am surprised to see all these positive reviews honestly. The main CP is good & that's about it. It was boring most of the time and I had to push myself to watch it for the sake of finishing something I started. I did not feel anything for the characters at all.

From the beginning itself this drama gave me 'Guardian' vibes. Even though the setting and props were good it just somehow looked low in quality. The story is sloppy at most and the execution is not that good.

And don't get me started on the ending, I almost threw my phone across the room.
It's the classic 'bury your gay' trope and we've got enough of that already.

Alexa play ' Let the world burn' by chris grey.

The song pretty much sums up everything. I wish it went another way, but damn it was inevitable.
Acting is okayish, chemistry builds up gradually & stays good. The fames look good(decent production value) beautiful cinematography. Costumes are pretty, but are repeated a bit too much which affects the continuity.
I don't want to give away much of the plot. The main characters are two people put in difficult situations & were forced to make difficult choices. MC & ML both have their reasonings, i may not agree with most of it, but it is what it is. Wish it had more episodes to shape the plot a bit better.
Don't know why they went with a sad ending story despite it not being a Chinese production. Excuse me while I go watch The untamed again to heal my heart.

This might be an odd thing to notice, but it sounds like it was dubbed by the actors, that is both good & bad. This works for some characters but not for others. It sounds like casual modern conversations, which comes across as jarring sometimes, given the historical & imperial setting ( could be a script/ dialogue delivery issue, don't know exactly). Editing is messy & it makes the plot confusing.
Overall it is a good watch if you are ok with not so happy endings.

This one is pure Magic

Fair warning if you are here for just a wuxia drama, then you may not like it but if you are here for BL, this is the one.

I watched this around the time it officially released but wanted to write a review after watching other Chinese bl drama adaptations. This won't be a professional review because a lot of people have already done that.

Most people might have seen others gushing about this drama and honestly if I am allowed to, I will definitely rant for hours about this as well. It is not without reason. It has been two years and of all the bl adapted dramas there is, CQL is still the best yet. I lost count on how many times I've re-watched it.

The best thing about this is that the plot and romance go hand in hand. Even if not seen on the BL point of view the plot is still good. If you are new to this the first few episodes will probably confuse you very much, it was for me so I dropped it ( a decision I still regret) and picked it up again.
One of those better budgeted productions, so looks decent. It's not technically amazing or anything but it doesn't matter because you wouldn't be looking at anything else other than the main CP. They are my favorite couple and the ML is one of my most favourite characters. They are just perfect, casting wise and acting wise. They make everything worth it and more.
There is no other annoying, unwanted hetero romantic subplots for the sake of censorship (I am eternally grateful to the makers for that). You can feel exactly what the two leads relationship actually is even if a lot toned down. The other characters are also done well.
The story is almost (95%) similar to the og novel and did complete justice to it. The ending is open and ambiguous, again for censorship sake but not very disappointing.
This was a game changer because it successfully adapted a danmei without loosing its core elements even through censorship.

The bar is in hell huh?

Pretty privilege is real. Can we all stop letting actors pass just because they're good looking. The biggest gripe i have about this series, is that the acting is atrocious. I was yelling at the screen most of the time for the main leads to go back to acting school. The little girl was actually better than most of the adult actors.

The ML is an absolute psycho, but turns into a simp in the latter half (which was nice). Don't get me started on the R*pe, just played off as romance. Zero acknowledgement. The second couple is actually more healthy.

Story is a mess, don't ask for how anything works. Lots of uncles & cousins and brothers & idk who's who. The editing is sloppy, music just cuts off abruptly half way & the dubbing is waaaayyy off (i'm not Chinese but even i could see that)

Stop being non critical of things just because it's a BL. Will you watch this series if it was a hetero love story? Hell no. Only genuine criticism can make things better.

Despite it all, the leads do have good chemistry & the ending is cute. So much potential, but bad execution made this an one time watch.

Watch it for Shen Wei's sleeve garters.

Let me just tell you the most redeeming thing about this drama first- the leads. I only exclusively watch BL or danmei adaptations because, reasons and this is something I would highly recommend.
The story is very very different from the source material which is both good and bad. The priest novel is so complicated especially for people who are not familiar with Chinese mythology. Here they attempted to simplify it but ended up loosing a lot due to sloppy writing.

One of the main characters, Shen Wei is adorable and sweet and very mild mannered while the other, Zhao yunlan is crude, brazen and yet brings in an effortless charm and they are just perfect for each other. A lot toned down obviously but enough present as far as a c-drama is concerned.
The music overall is okay, some might like the OST some might not.

The production value is low and it shows, the cgi, props, set etc are not good. A lot of scenes feel illogical even with its fantacy setting.

The acting is okay-ish, some side character performances were okay while others were just plain cringe. The leads did a pretty decent job especially the actor who played Shen wei.

The thing is despite the negatives the drama is worth watching if you like BLs.

BOC, did you atleast kiss the brick before throwing it?

Pain & trauma wrapped in a pretty packaging & adorned with bows.
If you approach this as just another BL, you will be disappointed a bit. This is so much more. There is plot & politics that goes hand-in-hand with the romance. The pace is a bit slow, it lags in some places, but overall it's engaging enough. The production quality is very good, even better than KP. They spend serious money & it shows. The frames are top notch & the cinematography is incredible. This show is excellent in the technical side. Acting was okay. Songs were all beautiful & adds to the narrative.

The issue most people have with is the main couple. They have excellent chemistry, but their relationship as Trin & Tanwa could've had a bit more depth. It doesn't get much traction until the finale (the scene by the seine was beautiful). After much hardships of their own, they do get a happy ending.
Now the second couple, they broke my heart & made me cry. Their relationship felt more prominent & interesting, only to suffer the worst fate. Krailert's ending was the worst out of everyone. I don't want to see anyone defending Dhevi, because she knew he was gay & was the one who told her father to do what he did. Women are the victims of the narrative in most cases but not this one.
The politics might be boring to a lot of people, but it's a personal preference. These are real things that happened & still happening all around us. It could've been a bit more cohesive, but overall it is a great show & worth watching.

Smarmy (little bitch) lawyer husband X Righteous (simp) PE teacher husband

Came after I saw a very good waist grab video from this show on Instragram, stayed for the ML's creepy smile.

As the title suggests, the main character, Charn-our lawyer is manipulative and ruthless. All he cares about is money and power, or so he says. Even when he is shown in a negative shade and is a huge brat, he is very endearing. He just turned bad to protect his soft insides. Film portrayed him very well. The other lead-Tinn, is a goody two shoes, and is all about justice and doing the right thing. Which should make them the exact opposites, but at their cores, they are both the same. It kind of makes it enemies to lovers, I guess. They are both super smitten by each other, it's adorable. I've liked this pair since 'To sir, with love', as they have good chemistry together. Acting is decent for the mains & okay-ish for the side characters. The mlm-wlw solidarity is strong in this one.

Now that we have the positives out of the way, let me talk about the not so good aspects & oh boy. The direction & editing are just ugh. The production quality is also abysmal.

The story was unique and had the potential to be really good if the screenplay and direction were a bit better. There were a lot of cringe & logic-less scenes that I let pass only because it's a BL, otherwise I would've thrown my phone across the yard. Definitely tests your patience sometimes.
I did not care for the second pair at all, but other side characters like the grandma, charn's friends & his ex (such a simp & I love him for it) were interesting. The thing that makes me most sad is the missed potential. It could've achieved a close to kinnporshe level popularity but sadly the quality was a hindrance.
They get married in the end & not gonna lie, it was very cute.

They are fu*king cousins y'all !!

Why where the leads presented with romantic bgm & chemistry if they are supposed to be related 🤮The tags literally say 'homoerotic subtext'. ( Pardon my french) What the f*ck? which circle of queer baiting hell is this? 😭
Mediocre at best.
The actors are ok, costumes are pretty. Set, props & everything is passable. It's only around 15min, so not a lot of time is wasted.

The screen play is a dumpster fire. The story is all over the place. I don't know if the makers know what they want this story to be. I don't understand half the things the characters are doing or what's going on. The subtitles are shit.

Did we all watch the same thing???like hello??

TOXIC & PROBLEMATIC STUFF PLAYED OFF AS COMEDY!! 100% agree with the negative reviews.
I'm not saying chinese-BLs we've got so far are masterpieces, but they were worth it (even with censorship). Even the bad ones had a minimum standard. This new kind of Chinese dramas that surpass mainland release are turning out to be so crappy.

Cringe acting, logic-less plot, sub-par editing, bad direction & shitty screenplay-- i would've let it all slide, because it was entertaining upto a point, but the ML is toooo shitty, not just to the MC but others as well. Like he literally threatens to r*pe the MC's friend & it's played off as comedy. At first I thought it was a translation mistake, but no. He can't bare to force himself on the MC but other people are free real estate, like what the f*ck? Why are we normalising/romanticising this shit? This is why BL's get such a bad rep. Everyone would be up in arms if this was a mlw drama.

The MC is annoying as hell too. I actually like the second couple more, but don't know how they turn out, because I dropped it.

I once again urge the audience to stop praising less than mediocre content & demand the makers for quality.

Denial is a river in Egypt, your fiancé is gay!

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece or anything but it has its charm. Kinda soap operaish, but very old school romance. If you like melodramatic romantic dramas, you will like this. The leads start out as being annoyed with each other but it turns to love. Chemistry is excellent, they look good together. Their scenes are super sweet & romantic.
The prince is very similar to Prince Henry from RWRB, same personal dilemma & vibes (they even look kind of similar). Acting & music is okay.
The series falls short in the technical department, mainly direction & editing. Wish it had a more solid screenplay, the father is a10/10 hater & Pin(the girl)is super vindictive & then just immediately turn around? Doesn't make sense.
All that aside, it's worth watching.

So sweet; it gave me cavities

A little late to the picture but anyway. I typically don't like highschool stories, but this one was too nice to not watch.
Pros- Toooo cute, especially the MC. The definition of cutie patootie. If you google the image of a boy in love, his shy smiles should be there on top. The ML, the perfect other half. Not just a green flag, but a whole forest. They are utterly perfect for each other. Excellent chemistry. (GeminiFourth will forever be one of my fav pairings)
All their scenes together are so sweet. A nicely done highschool romance.
The ML's friend is the best wingman to ever exist.
Good pacing & songs.

Con's- All the typical cliches of Thai BLs: Annoying product placement, hyper exaggerated acting, some cringe dialogues etc. They are teenagers, so some of the cringe can be excused.
The direction & screenplay could've been better. It had the potential to be better, but still a very enjoyable & entertaining watch.

Could've been better

The story is like an investigative drama but too much emphasis is given on the drama part. Insertion of unwanted romantic subplots really takes away a bit from the story. It's like a typical Jackie Chan movie, good action and comedy, which makes it charming enough.

Editing is shit, scenes just cut off abruptly. Music is decent.

There is a cooking montage every five episodes and they eat something atleast twice every damn episode. It makes you wonder if you're watching TLC instead.

There are three main characters whose roles are equally important. The MC is constantly hungry, eccentric and smart. The other main character (or ML) is a grumpy looking guy who doesn't talk much but when he does it's so soft spoken and soothing. The last one is cunning and ruthless yet has a vulnerable edge to him and perhaps the one who goes through a whole character arc.

Love their little family and the dynamics between all the members. It's a decent watch if you have time to spare.
