It's a 2023 drama. Censorship stopped it, but it's still a 2023 drama.

If this production team manages to creat one BL a year I'll be very happy.

I'm not blaming the idols, no way. I'm blaming the system. What I meant by censorship is specifically the BL targeting. These actors are putting their lives and careers on the line just by participating in a Chinese BL, even if it's been registered as Singaporean.
I'm sorry if my message wasn't clear enough. What I meant is that the Chinese industry is spending tons of money and talent on mediocre dramas, while KTL is so good even as a poor underdog.

They did so much with so little money.
This makes me proud of them, but now I'm so angry about all the big budget idol period drama. They get all the privileges, all the money, all the top stars and production teams, no strict BL censorship - and yet they still end up being so subpar compared to this little drama done with almost nothing.

Japanese dramas are usually like this, and it doesn't have many voters yet so it could change.
I have a system: I add half a point in my mind to know what the drama would get if it was from Korea or China. 8.3 is more like it, isn't it?

I think the original Japanese airing date is what MDL counts as the formal date. Netflix is what most of us watch, but it's technically just a rerun.

Does the novel have a HEA?

So again, it has nothing to do with the drama itself. Ratings should reflect the drama and not personal grudges. If people don't want to watch an actor that's fine, but why ruin the work of all the many people who worked with him and have nothing to do with the scandal?

Trolls. They are downgrading because they want another drama to succeed more. This often happens on MDL. It will probably even out in a few days. The drama is doings well in China, so it can't be that bad.

That's true 🤣 but sometimes a drama is the victim of a particularly vicious one.

Why are the ratings down? Is there some fan fight?

You mentioned LIP and CAV but there are many more like this. It's a Japanese manga thing, a certain style that repeats itself and they seem to like.
If this isn't a style you like (and that's totally fine) you can avoid it by looking for signs: based on manga, has a bombastic name full of clichés (phantom, Yakuza and such), covers that are pink/kitschy/have a couple in a gripping hug.

It took me 4 episodes to realise. Such a different character with a completely different look, I didn't recognise him without the attitude and bleach.

I don't buy into the Cripple is her cousin theory. He was way too young twenty something years ago, even from his back you could see the kidnapper wasn't that young then.

I actually read an American book about how kids can be stolen in Mexico and be adopted in America. By the time the adopting parents get them it's all been white washed and looks legit. They go through proper adoption agencies and have no idea. So this isn't as far fetched as you might think, it's happened even in western democracies.

Major surgery and the kid isn't hospitalised the night before? That's farfetched. Good for a dramatic twist, though.

Madam Hong looks like such a sweet grandma, that's just wrong. That's scary.
