okay can someone please explain the whole controversy with this show? why did it get cancelled after 8 eps and why is Japan airing it now? and it's edited in this new version? will we ever get the original unedited episodes after those 8 eps?
toxic psycho men: the series that's it. all three of them. i know this'll be an unpopular opinion. but i said what i said. the direction, production, acting and casting was all great. but the problematic source material is what let this thing down. im a fan of darker storylines but this was a whole lot of horrible violent acts without the characters causing the trauma facing the consequences. yes jaemin went to jail. but only he did. they also took all the sexual assault from JM and SH so lightly which was disappointing.
this show had so much promise but couldn't deliver imo. if only it had an actual plot, and dunk would know how to emote, it would've easily been one of the best bls of the year. idk what jojo had envisioned for this show but it didn't happen. firstkhao and joong carried the show. the episodes were entirely too dragged out and long for the lack of plot.
every episode i cry and that's a great thing tbh. this is a beautiful drama! if you are considering watching this, please do it! it is not grim or a sob story. overall, heartwarming and truly worth it. the visuals are beautiful too. i also love the director's other works.
is it just me or did motai masako's character feel super creepy in this? like it was so scary how she appeared outta nowhere each episode. lol. this show is visually striking and the depth of the conversations are good. however, i prefer stories to have a little more oomf, and more warmth like Danchi no Futari. Charming show regardless. The first episode with Koji Yakusho playing a hyperactive weird character was such a surprise (especially if you think about his character from Perfect Days).
this started off promising but overtime it became incredibly dragged out (like there no need for 1+ hour per episode and 10 episodes at that). Another recently adapted Sammon's work, Spare Me Your Mercy was much better executed. At this point this show is focusing too much on one thing (the raindrop killer) to the point that it is getting annoying. The acting isn't half bad, but the story has lost any and all meaning imo.
Makiko was my fav sister. I am still confused if her husband is cheating or not but I guess yes
i was confused too but then i remembered how he mistakenly called home and then hung up. so he clearly was cheating. but i wonder whether he was cheating with the colleague who got married or someone else entirely. out of all the men makiko's husband was the worst because he was the sneakiest and always denied vehemently.
I liked the first 5 episodes but started to get really annoyed and tired of the wife and her destructive and immature decision making styles. They kept saying that she is a very honest and straightforward speaker, but I think she is the most confused person and led to all the issues in the marriage in the first place. I just feel bad that the husband is willing to put up with all of her whimsies so that she gets what she wants. She wanted her husband to not have sex with her, she got it. She wanted her husband to love her again, she got it. She wanted to try having kids with her husband, she got it. She could no longer picture being a married couple and wanted a divorce, she got it. She wanted to sell their apartment, she got it until she changed her mind. She wanted to get back together with her husband, she got that too. For every single one of these decisions, Otoya continued to support her and give her what she wanted. As an audience, I just got tired of seeing this pattern over and over and over play out in the exact same way. I guess that's why I couldn't feel happy with them ending up back together in the finale. That's all.
In the novel, there's no video game, it's something like parallel worlds. So there's no best friend for LQS. And…
Hi thanks so much for explaining! I finished the drama, and haven't read the novel, but in the novel is it Ling Qiu Shi who creates the game? And in the ending of the novel, what happens exactly? To be honest, the drama ending was a bit sad and also frustrating for me because of the huge time jump, and them being in the spirealm world and never being able to be in the real world because RLZ is an NPC.
can someone please tell me how the series differs from the actual novel? i read somewhere that lingling doesn't actually have a bestfriend but he is the one who created this game? And how does it end in the novel?
maybe it was because the production/director changed but this season didn't catch me at all...the humor and the camera work felt flat. something was off, and it wasn't because of the actors, but probably the direction and dialogue that caused this where has the hilarious crack punchy humor gone ?!!ðŸ˜
in ep 11 i think they skiped a chapter cause dang that was faster than lightning
i haven't read the novel but if qian has never dated anybody how did they just get to that so easily idk that was my only question. i guess the episode lengths may have had them do that.
that's it. all three of them. i know this'll be an unpopular opinion. but i said what i said.
