im not mad about this show. it is beautifully shot and acted etc. BUT the actual story felt like grief porn in a A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara kinda way ifykyk.
honestly after ep 8, this show could go on forever and ever and i would not complain i just wanna be a part of these lesbianās lives. representation like this, outside of just romance and drama is so so important. a community of like minded strong friends especially for lgbtq folks is so needed!
this show is so special!!! this was one of the shows from the 2025 lineup that i was truly waiting for and im not disappointed to say the least. they really took their time with this one. and im so glad perthsanta got cast as leads for this project because they can really showoff their acting skills. everything from production, set design, story pacing, acting, sensitivity to issues is 10/10, no notes.
can i just say that the actress that plays Mata, is so good!!! her expressions especially in that scene at the end of ep 2 after the fire was breathtaking.
im just watching this for pearlpeak and the iconic lakorn vibes. but since ep 1 the story feels quite predictable. the uncle is clearly the one who put the dad in a coma, and also wrote that fake letter to get kaysornās mom to go to bangkok. i am just wondering if the mom died (got killed) or is alive somewhere. also kinda confused as to how they are gonna extract the perfume since it only emanates from emotion/love it looks like. and once kaysorn realizes that he is being betrayed by scent, there goes the fragrance. this isnāt like they can take his blood to concoct his scent or something. 8 eps is really too short. i wish we got dmd series style length so they could build the story slower. i hope pearlpeak keep working together in many more projects together. they are great actors and have excellent chemistry.
i donāt think iāve ever rated a show (BL or not) a 10/10. but this one became a 10 early on and stayed that way all the way through. im so glad i watched this šš
Yes, your second paragraph says it plainly. I bailed after watching those scenes. Not sure that I can continue.
i actually skipped most of them after the first few times because i knew i couldnāt handle it. i think it is a very good show still. would highly recommend you to continue watching, just skip those parts. i also didnāt binge watch the show. just two episodes per day and missed some days in between. binging might not be the best for a show like this imo.
theyāre right when they say not to trust the ratings on here. this is at least an 8.5 or 9. this show is for you if you donāt expect a clean cliche wholesome lawyer story. real stories that stays with you long after the episode is over. the episode arcs donāt end in a predictable way, where everything is tied up neatly in a bow and everyone gets what they need. great acting and chemistry between the leads and really good production in general. i loved the ending theme and the cinematography/coloring.
my only gripe with this is the violence shown. i am not one to enjoy watching violence on screen especially when itās on old people or mentally disabled folks, so those episodes and scenes were particularly hard to watch because this drama actually shows the abuse. but you can always skip those scenes. this is not for you if you are expecting something like ishiko to haneo that have happy endings, b&w characters and little to no violence shown.
listen i didnāt think dmd could make a 10/10 show until now. yes, iāve watched khemjira. it was very good. not a 10 for me. but this show is so special š„ŗš
every few years i come on here to check on this screenwriter to see if she is making anything new. im so glad that she is this year. i canāt wait. doubt ANYTHING will top my mister though.
this is not a professional take or review at all. but the best way i can put into words how this drama made me feel was this: annoyed. iāve never felt this annoyed to have to finish a show i started. also the finaleās āex bfā was so abrupt like okay sure they didnāt last, but why show that they were doing fine right before? FL was unreasonable af and hard to empathize with because the aegyo thing was too strong in how she acted that it wasnāt cute anymore. honestly, thatās bound to happen if you cast an idol. Also up until the very last episode MLās feelings didnāt show on his face. i usually like a quiet, slow paced, iyashikei style drama. but i think them trying to combine that with the romance genre did not work. if you want to watch something better by tv tokyo, i HIGHLY recommend Bansan Blues. well written and executed. no romance though but heartwarming and wholesome.
i canāt say that this was a favorite show because the story felt a bit predictable, shallow and overly dramatic at times. but there were some really good scenes and moments that did make me a little emotional. especially in the last two episodes. when junichi hugs makiko and all of them walk towards nara. and in the finale when masaki is walking to school with his friends but they are the younger junichi, makiko, keisuke and naoto. also when junichiās gf hugs him and asks him to spin her around one last time. LOVED the ending theme by yuri. itās beautiful and really leaves an impact. as a longtime jdrama viewer, the story, and some of the melodramatic parts were overdone that made it feel more like a 2010s piece. i did watch anta ga with takeuchi ryoma before this so i guess my expectations were particularly high for a fresh and modern drama like that. and this story felt quite old fashioned and trite - idk how else to put it. the actors, especially the child actors, did the best they could, but the plot just was not there.
