OMG YES PLS, IM ON MY HANDS AND KNEES!!! If not a show, at least do a novel with them as the couple, so I can live with peace.

I honestly love how their story as it was built, very rare and unique for a cdrama. I definitely think this trope should be done more often. So many claim to have this energy, but its a "villain" that hasn't even done that many bad things, just bad in name.

Ok I get it, Bai Xi/ Fu Ling did heinous things (although I am a Fu Ling apologist) and probably didn't deserve to live...but I feel Chong Zhao deserved to live happy with the constant kindness he's shown. I felt like they should've shown a happy ending for Chong Zhao and Bai Xi, in "another life" as they promised...

ik the fu ling chong zhao ship is sailing rn but i dont like the "mistunderstanding made me mistake my lover"…
Honestly SAME, I AGREE !!! I am actually a really big fan of their story and the trope they were following, which seems to be really organic for an "enemies to lovers" & "star-crossed lovers".

Especially since in CDRAMAS, more often than not, we usually that the male is the "villain/bad guy" and the girl is the "good guy". MM definitely went out the norm and made Fu Ling the villain & Chong Zhao the good guy and I REALLY ENJOY IT. Both of them are very well written and deep down the two characters actually have a lot in common, just two hurt characters finding comfort in each other.

I love how we saw how we get to see Chong Zhao go from wanting her dead, to resisting and hesitating to showing her affection, and eventually lowering his walls and admitting he has indeed fallen for her and is willing to take the steps to protect her and live life with her.

While Fu Ling, we get to see her obsession with wanting someone to care for her develop into love and how she began learning what love really is and with that, she began respecting him and his boundaries, making sure not to cross the line. As opposed to how it initially started, with her forcing his hand into doing things against his own morals to get him to stay.

Obviously their story is more detailed than what I summarized, but I enjoyed that their love was organic, two hurt people in very similar boats, falling in love and coming from different backgrounds.

The whole "turns out she was the one i was in love with the whole time BC OF THE NOTES" DEFINITELY ruined it for me, I hate how A LOT of cdramas are obsessed with the idea of "fated lovers" and force unnecessary tropes onto a couple that was good. They could've been fated lovers even without the notes plotline. It definitely made it feel LESS organic. I think the organicness comes from the idea of "moving on" which was GOOD BUT THEY DECIDED NOPE LET'S DO THE NOTES PLOT and I feel like "moving on" is VERY rare in fantasy dramas, it HAS to be "fated lovers" / "doomed lovers" no in between....

I am pretty sad about it too, I really really like Fu Ling's character, she is VERY well written. I also really like the writing for Fu Ling & Chong Zhao's relationship/story. Their story is truly super unique and intriguing . It is not often that we get to see a WELL written female villain and a good guy falling in love with each other especially in a cdrama, its usually unrequited until the end :(.

The two of them will definitely have their moments of happiness, but from script leaks, it looks like the main couple and maybe 2-3 other ppl have a happy ending no one else :(

I also read the script and unfortunately...she does meet a tragic end along with Chong Zhao :(

I would sell a kidney to see a spin off of Fu Ling & Chong Zhao in a spin-off/sequel OR in a different life. After what the two have been through in their past and throughout the show, I honestly think they deserve a chance at normal life.

Hello everyone! As I was watching Moonlight Mystique and I was just so intrigue by Fu Ling's & Chong Zhao's relationship. This trope isn't very common in cdramas and I think they did a really good job so far on their story!

I love seeing Chong Zhao's hesitation and resistance against his affections for Fu Ling. On the other hand, I enjoy how Fu Ling's character is starting her redemption; I think a huge part of that redemption is guilt which we can somewhat already see. Her character is truly complex and well written. Even though FL loves CZ, the more time they spent together, the more each of their walls lower and I enjoy the growth on FL's part, she is trying not to cross the line/boundaries as she used to.

I was listening to a song called "I Caught Myself" by Paramore, and thought it fit Chong Zhao's POV so well. The song is about the idea of being unable to resist the feeling of love for someone (AKA can't help but falling in love ).

I made an edit of the two of them using this song, its about 30 seconds and would really appreciate the support/feedback!!

P.S. I personally do not think this edit contains any spoilers, BUT WARNING IS ADVISED!

Omg, i really enjoy the dynamic of Fu Ling's and Chong Zhao's story. At first, I thought it was going to be really hard to redeem Fu Ling, but she managed to do it!

I want to know some spoilers and I heard this is also based on a novel? If they are in the book, please give me some spoilers on FL & CZ, whether it be from the book or show!! PLZ spoil me!!

New episodes and Fu Ling and Chong Zhao are toxic, but I somehow love them? Plus it seems FY finally will confess,…
I honestly really enjoy Fu Ling and Chong Zhao as well! In a weird way, and I'm not a fan of a toxic enemies to lovers but I am oddly addicted to their relationship?! I've been wanting someone to discuss it with!

I hope they dive into Fu Ling's backstory, it seems like there is a lot that we don't know about her. I'm speculating that she's possible Bai Shou's elder sister?? Bai Xi? I feel like it makes sense to me that she is because, when Fu Ling kidnapped the three, she told Bai Shou that she is doing all of this because she disliked Bai Shou's carefree life and happiness. I think Fu Ling/ Bai Xi after being seperated didn't get the same opportunities or upbringing, which might've lead her to be evil?

I really enjoy FL's complex character. It's so rare to see a female villain (within CDRAMA) that's well written with a genuine and ACTUAL motive/reasoning other than bc "i want ur man".

If they do fall for each other, I would love to see how that progresses from hate to love. NGL like she made him do some HEINOUS things and I wonder how she's gonna recover from that. And if they do fall in love, I wonder if it would be "real love" or the classic type of guy who is still hung up on the main girl (Bai Shou) like many cdramas do LOL but he's only doing it to spy?

Their relationship seems complex, if she is truly the sister and what I speculate is correct then, I hope she gets a chance at redemption and NOT DIE, and let her have a life she's wanted.

The main couple makes me giggle and kick my feet in the air but I can't help but be intrigued by the other two!!

Hello, I had a question to anyone who read the novels or want to add on to discussion! As I watch the episodes, I suspect more and more that Fu Ling is Bai Shuo's sister (Bai Xi -- I think that's her name).

It seemed a bit odd to me she has a bit of a random vendetta against Bai Shuo BUT NOW especially what happened in 13-14 and what Fu Ling revealed in those episodes. Fu Ling reveals that targets Bai Shou because of Bai Shuo's happiness. Which leads me to believe that after Bai Xi was taken away, she struggled with living and has become bitter (rightfully so) hence turning to the dark side.

I'm interested in Fu Ling character and would love to see a Chinese drama have a FEMALE villain that has more depth, I also hope she has a redemption arc and gets to live. (If this is truly Bai Xi and she had a horrible childhood after being taken away, it would be heartwarming to see her have a normal life). Seems like under that cold exterior, there is turmoil and sadness.

On a side note, I would also love to see Chong Zhao and Fu Ling's relationship develop into something more, it would definitely be a change in pace and something fresh and new IF we see Chong Zhao and Fu Ling go through as enemies to lovers bit, but knowing c-dramas and their patterns Chong Zhao probably stays in love with our main girl.

Ding Yuxi supported 1218x2=2436 copies of Yu Shuxin's magazine. "1218" is her birthday. I love their collaboration;…
I agree! I hope they remain good friends after this! (maybe there is a possibility for a 3rd collab)

Please help me to understand. So he literally got stuck in the novel? And then Miaomiao was suck into that world…
Basically, yes! ish? I think it's because the show made a huge emphasis on Miaomiao making him fall in love with him (the romance), that they failed to deliver or flesh out the more important themes that they wrapped up in the end.

The idea is that this world that Miaomiao got sucked into is the novel which is metaphorically Fu Zhou's headspace/mindset which is chaos, depression, not good (which is unironically what she describes the book as prior to being sucked in).

Fu Zhou likes to write books, that is his form of escapism and that's why his books are usually good because who wants to immerse themselves in a bad story? But why is the book that they both got sucked into bad? Because the book is representative of Fu Zhou's mindset/depression. He got lost in his own escapism trying to run from his problems which is why he was SUCKED into the novel. Fu Zhou getting STUCK the book represents him being a victim of his own mindset and mental health, throughout the story, underneath all the humor and romance, there was a message that was there all along. Which was acceptance, overcoming, taking control of your life, and perseverance.

Miaomiao in a way technically is there to save him, but it isn't overtly told to us in any way, because we are constantly reminded about the affection meter for HER to escape back into reality, not much about HIM needing to (which is why i think they shouldve left more hints and build up).
On Love Game in Eastern Fantasy Nov 17, 2024
Basically, he wrote books as a form of escapism and in dedication to MiaoMiao who inspired him.(they were classmates and her courage when standing up to bullies inspired him to do a procedure that saved his life.)

The escapism goes too far and he's stuck in his own world which is a metaphor to him being stuck in his mind/depression. He was depressed and in shambles, however, MiaoMiao just like she did in modern day when they were classmates, saves him from a dark mindset, this time with not just courage but her acceptance and persistence. Which is a theme that has occurred numerous of times throughout the story but wasn't overt.

Him being sucked into the novel, represents him becoming too immersed and too far into escapism. The lotus core is symbolic of his mindset going from dark to light. The whole journey was about accepting that he was a demon which alludes to accepting urself as who you are and taking control of your life. The arc about Mu Sheng's trauma was about overcoming/facing trauma/reality. MiaoMiao was the pillar that helped him in modern day, and she once again was the pillar he needed final escape the novel/his mindset.

Hence why the end talks about how one must love themselves before loving someone.

It's not necessarily a bad ending/open ending because we know that the reason why they reunite is to allude that they will probably be in eachothers lives moving forward.

I sat on it for a bit, and I've concluded that this ending is quite nice. I came in thinking this was going to be a romance, but it ultimately was a lesson about acceptance, overcoming, mental health. It's not a great ending, not an amazing ending, but it was just a good ending with a great message!

I personally wish they did more to allude to the real world, it would've made it a bit more cohesive. This show has been a great ride! I honestly don't regret it even if it could've been better. It had me for a good giggle while it lasted!

OMG! I wouldn't mind a modern or a wuxia, I would love to see one with Esther doing more martial arts too!

MJTY had such a good concept and ambience to it, although I was a bit disappointed with the ending! I would love to see the two act in a show with the same vibes! I agree Zhang Linghe's chemistry with Esther is great but have you seen the chemistry with him and Bai Lu?!
I think my top 2 collabs would def be Esther Yu & Ryan Ding + Zhang Linghe & Bai Lu!!

However... I remember reading that Esther Yu had to endure severe dieting because the director of MJTY didn't think she was "skinny" enough and he would threaten to film her on "bad angles" :( WHICH IS SO BS?!?!? She is literally so pretty & perfectly fine the way she is. As much as I love the concepts of the director's show, I wouldn't want her to work under those conditions. It's important to stay healthy!

Yea their body language and familiarity with each other is definitely there!

LOL, honestly yea i been waiting until 2AM just for the show even though I have to start the day early! I do feel a bit sad but also a bit happy so I can finally start resetting my sleep schedule!
