remember the part where he was talking to their boss? the boss was saying the higher ups want to promote him. after getting that trophy to stay with shilitai and planning a married life with xq, i think he knows it's time to move out of the frontline

hope they stick with writer's decision

XQ seems more rebellious than MYC judging from what SY said to MYC. XQ would instigate fights and all, to the point of him saying it was extreme. Although as a teenager, XQ still didn't have the strength to totally go against Mama Meng.
MYC on the other hand seems more passive which is why he justified their upbringing in his head and his only act of rebelliousness is hanging on to his feelings for XQ.
Still not saying I agree with his actions. In the end, he needs to let XQ be happy and find his own sonlight.

The moment YZ didn't tie her hair and copied XQ's hair in the photo, I stopped thinking she may turn out not like in the novel. She's getting more screen time than I'd prefer though. SY-XQ team's matchy-matchy would've been more fun to watch.

XQ cut ties. it's Papa Meng who tries to keep in touch but to no avail. MYC decides to go to Lebanon for some charity thing (i think). So her caterpillars both flew away.
She did have to kinda beg MiaoMiao to give them the evidence to clear MYC's name, but MiaoMiao was too good to let sis-in-law's parents really go beg for it. I think that was the most slap in the face thing that happened to her in the novel.

they are both grown adults (without a mama meng hindering them lol) so if they like each other and wanna date, that's their choice.
ngl their chemistry in fomh is giving off the charts cp vibe. but they could just be good actors being professionals. i won't hold it against them either way haha

In the novel, SY mom and Papa Meng had a thing. But the drama backstory of SY dad working under Meng company wasn't in the novel. So drama-wise, I'm not sure if they're against SY because of SY dad or SY mom.

I can empathize with MYC but his actions keep crossing the line. XQ even before she met SY already drew the line when she agreed to change her last name. And in that convo with Papa Meng, it showed that he's against all the other guys they're trying to pair up with XQ. So he really wants to keep her for himself, even if they're not together romantically just together in misery. That's not right.
So as much as I understand he is a product of his upbringing, I can't support his amorous feelings for XQ.

they already met during the joint rescue thing and the earthquake. in the novel, they meet her when he brings her to the station and introduce her as their sister-in-law.

Only because of earthquake + doctor + soldier/firefighter. but the stories are very different.

In DOTS, they initially broke up because FL couldn't see their values being aligned as a doctor saving lives and a soldier killing. I don't even remember if FL figured it out for herself. They meet each other again not too long after the break up, and get back together.

Here, the initial break up is because of FL family objection. They meet each other again after 10 years. They've both changed and figure out if they still like each other after all those years. When they get back together, there are other things they figure out together to get their HEA.

IMO, FOMH is a more fleshed out story than DOTS.

She's sus because everyone is saying she's sus (novel readers, XYX, friends saying go for a rich man). Plus she is interested in MYC (as a man? as a potential rich lover? as a person? ionno). For now, only drama writer knows if it will circle back to the same situation as in the novel or not.

It made sense to remove it tbh. Visually, unless Dr. Xu has terrible eyesight, it's farfetched hahaha. Also, XQ choosing to move to SY without any push felt like her mind was made up who she wanted to be with. Then XQ going upstairs without hesitation (or in the novel, having a riled up SY telling her to go upstairs) felt like XQ had more courage than wanting to appease SY. The sequence to me flowed better and get more agency to XQ than in the novel.

I wonder how it'll go with the drama. In the novel, her mom didn't really tell her to give it back. It was her decision which shocked her mom hahaha the part where she tells SY she doesn't want to go home isn't in the novel

I wonder if it's to mask their own generational trauma they can't escape. Trying to hold on to a belief that it's not wrong so it's okay to have gone through it and it doesn't mean they grew up flawed. This is how generational trauma gets passed on to one generation to the next. When they've made themselves believe that it's okay, so it's the same thing they do to their children. "I didn't grow up badly, so it shouldn't affect you negatively."
