Seems to me like another case of pointless shoehorning. If a drama needs to be longer then don't limit it to 16 eps. On the other hand, many dramas often lose steam and were clearly suited to be told in 13-14 episodes or less but they force it to fix 16. I dunno... the planning for these dramas and the production workflow and habits don't always lead to a consistent product.

It gets a 10 like all the other 100s of dramas you've watched.

Lots of dramas have bullying and deplorable in it, even serial killers etc. If you don't actually have an intelligible point to make then don't bother. We all get it. You like it and you're bothered that I don't. Enjoy what you want. Happy viewing M8.

7.9 is not low - it's virtually 8 anyway. You're spoiled by massively inflated MDL scores maybe. 7.9 on Douban is already getting into "must watch" territory... anything above 9 could perhaps be considered a masterpiece.

No you just don't get the point. You're trying to distil art as an objective measurement, so you've simply lost the plot. I also didn't say art is immeasurable, I only implied that it is not a hard objective medium, hence why you'll never get a consensus agreement over how good or bad something is. You senselessly move forward with condescension regarding statistics and continue to head down the frankly insane path of trying to crystallise art under some sensus communis of objective measurement but it just doesn't work. I presented some statistics for you which you completely ignored as to why, as an individual ranking source, MDL offers a very narrow band of differentiation which doesn't offer much clarity in the levels between dramas. If you're so hooked on the stats, you'll also see that everything I stated was correct when supposing the other two dramas as superior in the community judgment, but that has nothing to do with whether you will be aligned or not with that judgment. Ultimately, after you've finished spamming Yang Yang dramas, you're going to have a ledger of scores which belie such supposed objectivity, just like every other user here. Having an opinion which doesn't align with such nonsense (such as me not liking My Mister despite its undeniable reverence across every rating platform far beyond WRTW) has nothing to do with burying heads in the sand. Try again, if you would.

WeTV C-Drama Top 5 isn't saying much. I have a WeTV account and it's very limited and not nearly enough ends up on the site - but sure congrats on #1 - the 2nd half of the year has been far more explosive though. Nobody is disputing that the drama had some success and popularity - it stars two massive traffic actors for crying out loud so it was guaranteed to have momentum. A lot of popular stuff also isn't terribly good. LLTG and LBFAD easily best WRTW though. Anyone who wants a Zhao Lusi drama which is all around respected through every source of rating and ranking can watch Love Like the Galaxy. Sure is a helluva a lot more inspired than WRTW and it also bests it by pretty much every community metric.

Also, in art, achievements do cheat. This isn't sport or math or somethin'. Otherwise everybody would like and dislike the same dramas based on some empirical backing and share an "objective" measure which is closely aligned for artistic merits. Most people love My Mister but I dropped it. It is what it is. I can see though despite not enjoying it why so many would rate My Mister so highly though, given its tremendously professional production and presentation. The set of WRTW was a mess and there was drama behind the scenes which changed some of the artistic trajectory of that show.

If achievements don't cheat then I have to come to the conclusion that every single user here who has rated a fair amount of dramas is cheating, because I guarantee you a cross comparison is always going to bring up drastic subjective differences in scores and general appreciation for dramas.

Ultimately, Douban is very useful for getting a gauge on levels of quality. On MDL any half decent drama gets 8+ in recent times which makes it tricky to use this site as any real barometer for recs. Being able to go to Douban and check a 5.7 for WRTW compared to a 7.6 and a 7.8 for LLTG and LBFAD is a lot more useful than looking at hyperinflated special snowflake MDL scores and comparing an 8.7 to a 9.0 to a 8.9, which basically consigns all three shows as unequivocal masterpieces.

No I will just say you have you're own opinion. No need to make assumptions. Compare Douban scores to MDL scores to understand my general point instead of acting up. It helps to have a range of about 5 points to make meaningful discernments between dramas and community opinion rather than 1 point. Bear in mind that fans here lose their minds if dramas they like "only" have a score of say 8.1, which is a high and extremely solid score.

I'm tired of elaborating on the reasons as I've already made extensive posts about the topic. Long story short: very narrow band of differentiation in scoring averages to determine quality - Douban far more reliable with much wider differentiation. Thank you.

You'd think with a score of 8.7 that this drama would be good but it's kinda trash and MDL scores are as reliable as an old man with IBS in an elevator.

Splendid in many ways. Often incredibly aesthetic.

Episodes 9, 15, 30, 31, 35 and 36 standouts.

It's only 12 episodes so perhaps it won't lose steam like most of these 16 episode kdramas.

She has effortless range and naturalness. She is an acting marvel. It's incredible how detailed she is too as she's deeply absorbed into her character, with her almost reflexive, impulsive, adlibbed extras.
