Everyone says she lost weight. But her nose structure changed and thats nothing to do with weight loss.
And maybe the director also didn't get the best out of the cast. I'm talking about Zhao Lusi here but actually my biggest problem is with the performance of the ML, who I liked much more in A Journey to Love... and from all aspects really, whether it's the acting or the makeup or the camera angles. I think Liu Yuning has looked much more comfortable than this in his acting. I dunno what the general feeling about that is, but from my point of view the director hasn't helped the actors realise their best potential.

Main thing I noticed is her face seemed stiff and I didn't see the usual level of expressiveness or emotiveness in her acting, so the performance felt more forced or stifled than her usual awesome work.
And yeh she did seem a bit tired, a bit depleted, lacking some spirit to my perception.
You can't pay serious attention to MDL ratings. :DDouban isn't perfect but at least they're not in the habit over…
I don't know but doubt it. I translate any comments or reviews through Google translate, and use a mix of Chinese and English titles listed on MDL to find that drama on Douban through Google as well, because sometimes the drama title in one language doesn't give a hit. Navigation is a bit awkward as a result, no doubt.
Douban also has yearly reviews of the top rated media in a wide range of categories, which is worth checking out year-on-year for further possible recs.

I actually watched 24 or so eps of season 2, then the whole of season 1, then finished season 2. There were pros and cons to this. Probably one of the few dramas where doing it like this can work out. In the end it made season 1 slightly more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been for me, with all the curiosity and joy I got out of seeing how friendships develop knowing where the party were at in season 2, playing into my anticipation of all the whys and the hows. On the other hand, I probably got slightly less out of my first stint of watching season 2, even though I already loved the series thrust in medias res.
That said, of course it makes conventional sense to start at season 1. Both seasons have a lot going for them!
I am thinking about watching this. Is it worth the watch? 8.3 overall rating is not that impressive.

Douban isn't perfect but at least they're not in the habit over there of rating merely good, or even mediocre, dramas as high 8s or low 9s. An 8.6 on Douban tends to mean the drama is might fiiine. And this drama is mighty fine, to be sure.
I thought she's had facial work done recently? Certainly looks noticeably different to me...
I didn't say it as a statement but added a question mark at the end, meaning I still wasn't sure at all. In other words, I was inviting clarification. So well, thanks for clarifying, lol.

Maybe be less aggressive and ridiculous. Yes cool you seem to have an account with a photo of yourself and your name and you seem to be proud of it. I'm not trying to diss anyone that's just what I heard. It's also odd to me that you automatically would see this as some sort of diss. There's nothing petty or immature about it. Misinformed and ignorant? — Sure. I didn't go to extra lengths to verify what I'd heard from some others... I'm not like into the nitty gritty of these things and just watch the dramas really.
No need to be so negative and cynical when I mean nothing bad by it. Zhao Lusi is one of my fave actresses, and many other actresses actually have had work done and I have nothing against them at all.
I have two questions does this have a happy ending? And does she end up with tong xiao qi? Because I want to start…
There is indeed no romance between xbx and txq. If you do watch, it will make a lot of sense as to why and who they end up being interested in. You'll get the feeling even from episode 1, probably, as to how they'd never end up being a couple.

This is an interesting place.

There is some serious violence against children in this drama in one episode.

As for the aspect of cases and detective work, this is very mid. If you're looking for that then go to Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty instead.
ML is one of my fave characters ever, though. Let the man live his carefree life.
