Aside from the fact that it's lead by SJK, it's the way the story unfolds that made it really gripping despite…
the way the story unfolded hasn't been exciting for me. seriously it's just the same old plot and people trying to one-up each other. the script honestly sucks. like the aunties, i'm just watching the drama for sjk's face.
personally, the first responders is a better drama than reborn rich. in the loan sharks episode, the villains made use of sodium-potassium to blast an entire building in order to prevent the NFS from submitting evidence for court. the method is debatably more refreshing than the standard gunpowder bomb script. TFR does have some coherency and improbabilities and plot holes, though, but it seems we can never thoroughly escape them in dramaland. it's still more riveting than reborn rich tbh.
More than that is the sense of omniscience I got with his Reborn Rich character which gave me a stark reminder…
yeah his character isn't groundbreaking or anything. and knowing the people he served in and out in his previous life is definitely an advantage, but he's also very strong in his understanding in the fundamentals of business and finance. he's top in his current law class and he was top in his grade in his previous life. and let's be real, to outsmart those shrewd people, he needs to be shrewd himself. he's not a goody-goody this time around, because being the straight, loyal guy actually got him killed before.
this drama is honestly just a 6 at most for me. i just want to know how it ends. with vincenzo... i didn't even care how it ended. i dropped it halfway.
sjk should do an investigative drama. a horror, mystery, or comedy. this constant mafia/revenge sombre "i-lost-everything" or "i-have-trauma-so-i-am-filled-with-bitterness" trend needs to stop.
the first few eps were ok. then it got bad but i put up with it because of fatty and wu xie's friendship and humour. the last 10 episodes were so terrible i couldn't believe what i watched. all the romance subplots are dumb and to think piao piao is such an idiot in the final ep was the last straw for me
i'm on ep 3 and this show is boring as hell. camera lighting for scenes shot in the dark are also bad. the acting is so atrocious i just ... lmao. what has tvb become -_- bosco's acting and the other mains' are fine but the acting skill of minor charas "yidaluk" are awful.
edit: i'm now at ep 25 and every case has been so boring and unimaginative. the guy who's playing the medical student is so bad at acting, i suggest he takes more acting classes and spend more time practising his expressions in front of the mirror. his acting makes me cringe. i'm also sick of bo ying. she's so clingy and insufferable. the way she acts because she likes a guy is pathetic. the hou yin & taya pairing is also eye-rolling. their story is so lmfao far-fetched i can't even be mildly impressed. finished the drama painstakingly and this is the worst ever forensic series i've ever watched. i started rating this at 7.0 but now i can only give it a 1.0. i would give it 0.1 if i could.
This is very possible. The rich do not mean that they are generous, usually quite the opposite :)
they have maids at home. they can't bring one maid to the hospital? they just want to show sjk's character doing the dirty work and have the audience feel sorry for him.
lmao such a rich ass family and they can't afford to have a maid or plumber on standby? senior manager aka right-hand man does everything?? lmao this writing is such bs. also cheap. i can see this drama getting on my nerves worse than vincenzo already
this was a good drama, but it became progressively worse as the episodes go on. the twins' case was especially nonsensical. and qin ming's own personal case was the worst. the only redeeming quality was the female lead. luckily she's not annoying like many other badly written female leads.
dropped it after 14 episodes. i hate the message of the drama and the direction it took after ep 10. capt luo does whatever is "right" and whatever "justice" means to him in the name of "the law". but in reality, the law is flawed and good people sometimes suffer immensely because of it. in the drama, the main character capt luo can't see it beyond that, and the reason the drama gives? it's because of his "ocd" and slight asperger's syndrome. i hate that the drama constantly focuses on giving justice to people like child traffickers, druglords, because it's "only right". i should have seen that shit coming when the deuteragonist gao chuan was jailed on the basis that his car chase with the lorry driver had caused accidents and "disrupted public security". just wtf was that crap? and he got 5-7 years because of it!? this drama is hell-bent on sending good people to jail for the littlest mistake without taking their defense into consideration, while the evil people get their "rights" exercised before getting their "appropriate" punishment. what about the rights of the victims? the drama doesn't focus on the rights of the victims. i wonder if the author of the novel is an asshole or a criminal sympathiser for writing this crap. i started getting angry when the "wallpaper" scene came up. of course jiajia's teacher coincidentally needed to chage her wallpaper and of course capt luo were helping her when he found out about how glutinous rice actually works as a natural adhesive. the script bent over its back to find the truth to give "justice" to dead scumbags like child traffickers instead of having the police expending their energy elsewhere for victims who have been suffering for years.
