Person Kris Wu
lol i've always disliked him and thought he looked like a villain, sounded fake and pretentious even before the rapes came to light. if this was china there's no way this page would still stay up.

LMAO you are butthurt because you can't accept that people have differences in opinions about certain characters. I respect that you like her, but you can't respect that I do not. Got it.

I understand that you're trying to see the positives in her character but sorry. I just can't agree with the justifications. They have already teamed up - therefore it's a collaboration - they need to co-operate, and that means both of them have to persuade/dissuade or learn/teach each other. Since she knew better through her so-called "investigations" of the family for years, then yes - she needed to give it to him straight. And yes - both people do need to spell things out for the other because that's what communication is. That's what team work is. She isn't a "powerless" reporter. She's the leading female, she's supposed to do things that nameless extras can't. Her character archetype is a penny a dozen in 500 dramas and honestly I'm sick of her type. The type that acts big and mighty, criticising everyone who can't do things right, when she can't do things right herself, and then scream and shout and needed to be saved. I can't for the life of me just go, "oh well she's powerless, just like all the other extras." She shouldn't be taking up screentime, then.

yes i agree he's an arrogant shithead ahead of himself, but it's obvious he truly did not expect the old master to hold him back for another day over a warrant. he gave them the benefit of doubt and underestimated them. however, the girl reporter knew better. she already knew how deplorable the shen family is. she should have spilled the facts point blank for him. she went off at him and said "I TOLD YOU, YOU DIDN'T LISTEN" but what did she tell him before that?? nothing. she only said "stop investigating" without giving any reasons throughout that course. and LMAO oh my gerd she has a whole wall of investigation on this family but what exactly did she discover in her capacity as a reporter during all this time? the final 10 eps were all wasted running around the both of them doing piss. i just don't like her character and in the later eps i also find the actress in that role being way too exaggerating with her acting.

Lol. Not scary at all. There's no ghost. It's just murders. I like Ruby. She acts well as usual. But I find she's always acting in saintly roles. So there's nothing like "WOW" or "AMAZING" about it. I'm a person who gets spooked easily by horror or thriller films, yet all the "scary" scenes in this movie are kind of comedic, lmao.

at ep 16 and i'm so pissed at the reporter female "lead". why does she make it sound like it's the guy's fault that the women died? he didn't know they would be murdered. if she's so smart and sure about it, why didn't she tell him that they will be murdered or why didn't she save them instead? damn i hate it when these female characters are written like an annoying caricature. so few women characters are written well. it pisses me off. at episode 20 and she's acting bratty instead of showing compassion for someone with abusive scars. when she rolled her eyes, acted like a jealous brat, and accused the daughter of taking off her clothes just to seduce her stupid inspector whom she has a crush on. makes me wanna slap her face. Totally useless character. LOL. She got "possessed" or hypnotised and stabbed her stupid inspector in the guts. She's that kind of character who talks but can't do shits. All she does is yell at the inspector for his mistakes, what about her own mistakes? She's so "perfect", apparently. IDK what's the use of her character. Damn. 26 eps in and this has gone down the drain LOL.

Title Miss S Spoiler
From the way the show was setting up Ding Rushan as the antagonist from the beginning, I have to admit I was expecting…
His daughter actually died many years ago, way before he started kidnapping girls to ressurect his dead daughter. He had this idea to have her risen from the dead after visiting the tomb and chanced upon that "secret ritual" which is actually just a load of bs, but yeah he got obsessed with it. The production team slightly changed this subplot to differ from the original Miss Fisher's, where the main antagonist was also a lecturer and became crazy after visiting a tomb of the Pharaoh's, and subsequently became obsessed trying to ascend as a "god".

I watched the full 34 eps on a Chinese site, and just realised that all the English subbed version has only 30 episodes. Not sure why HBO Max cut out a full 4 episodes - that's a lot tbh. It's 40 mins x 4! I wonder if many scenes are affected by this edited discontinuity. It's ridiculous.

Edit: I rewatched this series. The first episode of the English subbed version seems to have been fixed - but they cut the dancing scene short and they changed the music! It was terribly weird, badly timed and didn't fit the dance number AT ALL. Scenes are then steadily edited out throughout and by Episode 14 (English version), they have already cut 40 mins worth of scenes (by this time it would be Episode 15 of the Chinese version). It's disappointing that HBO Max did this.

Edit no.2: Either way, this is one of my favourite series and I love that it's about a female protagonist rather than a male protagonist. I love everything about her. Luo Qiu Heng is kinda useless, but I love Su Wen Li too much to care about him.

lmao wtf woman? my original comment was a short one-liner. you know what kind of people respond to a one-liner with essays? zealots. which is a euphemism for crazy. i responded rudely because the comments were rude and full of shit. "no one did that to you" lmao, everyone rushing their ass to mob me with the same verbose, empty BS is totally "nothing". totally. i have already said everything in my previous comment, idk why you feel the need to rehash the same thing over and over just to feel righteous. and after all that holier-than-thou speech, you go "happy new year" "have a nice weekend" lmfao pls save it. i'm done with this convo.

and just because i didn't explain in full, the mobbing is warranted?? there have always been, and will always be comments that mention what should have been more faithful to the original in every work. disappointment is a fact of life. in dramas or movies, just take it and express it and move on. it's crazy that every dissenter has to "explain" themselves in order to avoid mindless and repetitive harassment. honestly idc if other people like the actress or the casting or that the adaptation strayed from the novel. i personally don't go replying to comments that i don't agree with, regardless of context. but no, most people just have to rise up and waste time trying to convince the other person that their opinion is "wrong". think about why most people just can't read an uncomfortable comment and move on. think about why people prefer to "own" someone else's opinion for some little bit of validification.
