Do you not realise that Shounen-ai literally translates to Boy's Love, which is BL. Shounen-ai is colloquially used for non explicit bl, while the term used for explicit bl is yaoi. This manga IS shounen ai, for the most part. And yes, it IS the author's choice. Because that's how she wrote it.
Apparently people are forgetting drama goes on script and not actually what actors think
They should be asking these questions to the scriptwriter, not the actor. Do u actually enjoying harassing women, then dressing up as a woman to escape punishment when u get caught? This is movie inspired by real life events? How can u convincingly write such characters without experiencing it first hand?
Stuff like this blows my mind. People will acknowledge the message of the movie and then turn around and say everyone…
Have u seen Soul Man? It's an 80s Hollywood movie where a rich white guy blackfaces as a poor black student (for the AA scholarship) because his parents spent his college trust fund to buy a 2nd yatch. He falls for a black single mom (the leads are a real couple). Towards the end he realises that scholarship he stole would have gone to the FL. The end pretty brilliant. After he gets exposed, the principal (a black guy) asks him, if he (a rich white man) understood how to it was to be a poor black person and the struggles etc., and he says "no. I can never truly understand how YOU people feel, because at the end of the day, I was wearing make-up. It wasn't my real face. If I couldn't handle the struggles, all I needed to do was take it off. But you guys can't, u have to live it with whether you like it or not."
And honestly that's what all these movies fail to realise. A man dressing up as woman can't truly understand what a woman has to go through. Because if the harassment gets too much, all he has to do take off his clothes and get a different job. But the women he harassed have to live with that not only the guy got away with it, he is also making a light of their issues because he can never TRULY understand what they have to live with.
This is ofcose in critic of the trope, in general, not this specific movie.
