I'm here to copy paste my comment here from before + add ons since it got buried before. I'm doing this since the drama is popular and I'm afraid some people keep attacking Esther Yu Shuxin especially her voice. (I also know some passerbys are just giving their honest opinion so I'm acknowledging it, just don't result to ad hominem and fake analysis in order to score the drama low. To her fans like me please don't join nonsense fight, we all know that it will only affect her since she's the one who is known. Defend her reasonably. I'm not here to fight, just to clarify some misunderstandings about her. Let's all have peace of mind.
1. Is it her voice in this drama? - From what I know, she's the only one confirmed who uses her real voice (the cute one and the one when she body swaps as DFQC). DFQC is dubbed by a voice actor, I don't know if Dylan Wang dubs XLH when he body swaps. I know this because the one who supposed to dub him is they said a famous voice actor but I forgot the name, but they change it to another dubbing actor because it's too deep and mature for Dylan Wang face value or age (That's what I saw before on weibo when they release the first trailer). Both voice actors were great since I can't judge it critically since I'm not professional voice actor. I'm not sure about supporting characters. I have no idea if they dub themselves or not.
I also believe that producer and director won't let her dubbed Xiao Lan Hua if it doesn fit. It's a big plus if Shuxin dubs it will make her fan happy because almost of her dramas were dubbed by her except in Amazing Boyfriend 2 (Since she's not original voice actress in Season 1), As a fan, I know her voice and I'll be uncomfortable if I hear other voices especially if I hear so familiar voice actors who dubbed so many characters in CDRAMA that in my mind I'll be imagining other person.
Also, she was given a chance to mandarin dubbed in MY LITTLE PONY. A proof that her dubbing is recognized. Her first ever movie voice acting job. So means it's just her voice and not trying to sound like a child. Also, there's rules for dubbing. Not every actors in China can dubbed because of a certain srtandard.
Aside from that, she was praised by a famous dubbing actor when she dubs a little lines of Baoqing Fox (A Sassy Character in White Snake)
And I believe there's someone to guide her while dubbing Love Netween Fairy and Devil because in My Little Pony dubbing vlog, there's someone to guide her. It doesn't mean that it doesn't suit your preference, it doesn't mean it's childish. You have to know first what the character do like is the character being unreasonable in work or being petty when it comes to her friends. Just don't immediate jump into conclusion that someone is childish because of her voice. Please know that in real life, we have different characters, pitch of voice and mannerism. I also acknowledge that some of us have ear sensitivity and character preferences, but we should also know the word respect, and the difference between giving constructive criticsm from just throwing hate on someone.
At first, I really don't get why people are pinpointing on Shuxin's voice and suddenly says it as childish without giving as an explanation. People telling act her age. I'm super confused. It's supposed to be cute and coquettish and some people want her to talk according to their preferences,
2. Which of those voice is her most natural ones? Why is she the FL? - It's definitely without a doubt her natural cute coquettish voice that everyone questions to the point they question if she is faking her personality and trying to be cute. It's so funny how can people easily judge, You can watch her interviews, vlogs, variety shows especially behind the scenes of Cang Lan Jue and you know they chose her as the female lead.
-Since she always given role of cute characters, aside that her voice is naturally in high pitch and need to act cute and soft, people immediately judge it as childish.
-With this, I just want to point out that why we always stereotype Strong female character and portray it to be always to be tough, fierce, bad@ss, sassy, diva. It is really satisfying to watch because it looks like it represents equality. In reality, strong female are multi-dimensional who undergoes different phases and experiences. So if you encounter someone who you hear talks in high pitch and naturally cute voice doesn't immediately mean they are childish. You just lack understanding, because you already judge someone without paying attention to manners and actions .
3. Why she always play cute roles? Why her character always annoying? A. It's so hard for her to get out from cute role since she's been stereotype since she got recognized for her acting as Cai Minmin that even got her nominated; and especially when she joins Youth With You 2 that people see her personality as cute, coquettish, bubbly, naughty. Since YWY2, some think she's an idol turned actor and uses it as an insult against her (Although I see nothing wrong if you change career as long as you're passionate in you're craft. In fact she's an actor who joins an idol group.
B. Another answer based from one of her interview, She learned from one of his mentors that you need to be known first for a certain role (for example cute role)than to keep on jumping from one role to another without being known to prove versatility.
C. Last thing is, not all actors can choose script especially if they're just starting, and they sometimes many compete for the same script or if the company will allow it.
So it's not her fault, depends on the character. She just always landed on cute roles because it's one of her branding image. Another thing, xianxia dramas love to use cute voices a lot. If you are used in watching Hollywood, it definitely isn't for you.
Don't mind her. Stereotyping is her game. For them, being bubbly and trying to be cute is annoying and childish while being judgemental is not. (I don't get it though, because their character is not stepping on people. The standard of maturity of some people is really questionable. You're only mature if you are inline with their preferences. You'll always be annoying to people no matter what you're not in line with their preference or doing what they think you should supposed to do. It's really unfair. It's okay there's a lot of people like us who love Esther Yu Shuxin. Besides, 4 million and still counting reservations for Love Between Fairy and Devils, a record breaking in IQIYI a proof that a lot of people recognized her acting and love her.
Honestly, I really wish that the female lead was someone Different. I just really can't stand her baby voice and…
Before throwing hate to someone else, did you even know that dramas of Xu Kai are all dubbed by someone else (but also there's nothing wrong with it, maybe his just so busy in other things so he cannot dubbed his dramas) so please stop commenting also about other actor's voice. I understand you have preferences but still don't forget to respect others. The cast is not official yet -it's still a rumor anyway). I also wish Xu Kai a success even I'm not his fan of his works. Also this won't any good to Xu Kai if you incite hate towards other actors. Just support and focus on his work. Let's all be friends!
COPY PASTE MY COMMENT FROM SWORD AND FAIRY 6 HERE IN MDL TO CLARIFY ABOUT SHUXIN'S VOICE: ● First of all, the director of Shuxin dramas always wanted her to dub because they like her voice so they want to keep it because her voice fits the CHARACTER. YES, ALMOST ALL OF HER DRAMAS WAS DUBBED BY HERSELF. ALSO, I WANT TO CLARIFY THAT SHE IS AN ACTRESS BEFORE SHE BECOMES AN IDOL, AND PEOPLE ALREADY RECOGNIZED HER ACTING IN MAINLAND BECAUSE OF HER CAI MINMIN ROLE BEFORE SHE JOIN YOUTH WITH YOU 2. SHE EVEN GOT A NOMINATION FOR THAT. ● Since she always given role of cute characters, aside that her voice is naturally in high pitch and need to act cute and soft, people immediately judge it as childish. And it's always unfair that they brand sassy diva, and bad@ss girl who always talk foul as cool and portray it as a strong female character. With this, I just want to point out that why we always stereotype Strong female character that always need to have a fierce look and always serious in talking. I like the musical score, camera works and color palette of moonlight. It has this classical vibe.
Moonlight really dig up a deeper perspective for authors, editors, and publishers. They just don’t use the contemporary work set-up as a front to giveaway for romance.
As for the color palette, they use a neutral/tone down which is really good because it contrast the brightness of the Chu Li and quirky attitude of Zhou Chuan. It also gives you a homey vibe & nostalgic visual feeling of reading a book.
The music score usually leans more on classical tune (subtle putting it on funny scenes), sweet and calming soundtrack. They are so smart in translating the essence of “usual noise/music hears when reading a book” into the screen.
As for the mood, If you didn’t notice, most of characters follows the neutral/low-contrast/tone-down mood vibe and color palette of the drama except for the two leads. This is just my observation but they put more brightness on the leads in the aspect of acting & technical.
In terms of mood, The leads have more freedom and angst when it comes to attitude while the supporting cast have restraint, classical and subtle feeling. You can notice it not just in acting, but also in the color scheme.
I can say I like that the first episode because if you notice, you will know there will be more background/in-depth analysis in the supporting characters because they all have this subtle intro of conflict in the beginning w/c means they’ll not be use just a prop for the leads.
In terms of pacing, so far, I can say, good pacing. Not fast nor slow. It is good enough to follow how usually a publishing company works. Workplace plot & romance are well-balanced. The conflicts are easily solved but the ways they solve it is not rush. Not intense. More of a fluff and heart warming.
Me being fair: As for the acting, because I read the novel, I can say that the two leads really fits the characters.
Me being bias: Shuxin & Yuxi looks like they have a battle of expressions. So on-point! No wooden acting & not exaggerating. Shuxin character is more tame here.

I also acknowledge that some of us have ear sensitivity and character preferences, but we should also know the word respect, and the difference between giving constructive criticIsm from just throwing hate on someone.
BESIDES, THE CAST IS STILL NOT OFFICIAL AND IT'S STILL A RUMOR, But some still already commenting and badmouthing the actress.
My wish to passerbys is not to jump in any conclusions without even trying to know the truth first. Let's all be reasonable. Thank you!
It’s reasonable that Suo Heng ends her friendship with Dir. Yu Yao because 10 years have been passed and their dreams in life become different.
Good thing she found new hope theough the help of Chuli Smiling face with tear
